We hired Davis Paving to do our driveway in March 2015. Paid Jeff the first 1/2 of the payment. Told us he would come and start tearing down the retaining wall that needed to be cut away for our new driveway as soon as the snow melted. The snow melted, we waited 2 weeks and didn't hear from Jeff, even after leaving numerous voicemail messages. Finally we heard back from him and he said that he hadn't been by to check the progress of the melting snow but he would in the next couple days. So we wait some more. The middle of April rolls around and they still haven't come to do anything. When we finally get a hold of someone it's Jeff's brother in law, Felix who tells us that Jeff's family has had a personal emergency and that is why we haven't seen or heard from Jeff. We understand that, we really do but, it's not very professional to just leave people hanging like that, no phone calls no word at all, especially after you've taken our money. A couple more weeks go by finally get a phone call from Jeff and he says that he hasn't been by to do anything because he is waiting on the asphalt company to open for the season, which will happen the first week of May. We wait some more..........May 30th is when the ground work started. June 12th they cut down the retaining wall after waiting almost 2 weeks for the drill they needed to cut. By June 17th we had the loom all in. Then we had to drive/park on that for 2 weeks. No word from Jeff for awhile....phone calls go to voice mail. There was a point where phone calls were rejected entirely. We had another Davis Paving customer stop by our house to ask us if we were able to get a hold of them. Finally fed up with playing phone tag I leave a message that basically says come and finish the job or we're going to have someone else come and do it. Again, it's not Jeff but Felix who calls and says that they will be here Friday, which at this point is JULY 17TH. And they kept their word, they came on the 17th and finished the job. And the driveway is beautiful. I have no complaints on the quality of their work so far but we haven't driven on it yet---it will be a week on Friday and we're waiting to put my much heavier vehicle up on the new driveway, especially where it has been so hot the last few days. Had a good rain storm and everything seems to drain properly and the sidewalk entry was done to code. I should say that I picked Davis Paving because of the relationship that they have with the town. Lionel Case was the code enforcer that I had spoken to about putting in this new driveway and he had a good relationship with Davis Paving as they do a lot of work for the city of Augusta. My complaint is definitely with communication. I am an understanding person if kept in the loop about everything that is happening and any setbacks. We paid Jeff on March 30th 2015 and the job wasn't finished until July 17th 2015. That's a pretty long time. And we know that we weren't the only ones waiting. Jeff himself told me he was finishing a job up the street the same day as ours. I wondered if they planned it like that on purpose. We are happy so far with the driveway but we haven't put it to much use yet so there may be a second review at a later date once we've had time to see how the driveway weathers the winter.

We truly apologize for the wait! We try our best to complete work as soon as possible! Mother Nature is a big part of our scheduling process! We work around that and there have been some health issues. We are very happy the quality of the work is up to your standards as that is our goal! I hope you read the how to care for your driveway booklet too as this will help preserve your driveway! It will explain the do's and don't's of your new driveway! What to expect and how to care for your new driveway! It seems like communication was an issue and I apologize for this as well! It is not our intention to upset anyone! We do have an appointment book and sometimes weather and even the asphalt plants breaking down affect our schedule! Thank you for your business and brining this to my attention. We will work harder to fix anything that may be broken! Just a reminder that extreme heat is not over and with a new driveway it takes up to 2 years to cure! This means harden. So, to help prevent tire marks which happens to almost all new driveways and parking lots, hose your driveway to cool it down and try not to turn your wheel in the same place as this will cause tire marks! If you have any questions or concerns please call us as I am feeling better and will be in the office! Betty!

In the first year it developed several cracks. I called several times and he would not respond. Now entering the second year the driveway has dozens of cracks and is falling apart. He answered my call once and when he figured out who I was never came over as he promised. Very unprofessional and a shyster. DO not use Davis Paving of Augusta, Maine!

Sorry, however you failed to mention that we stopped by your house and left a card in your door to let you know that we were there! Unfortunately we cannot guarantee against cracks! We live in Maine where cracks happen due to frost! We give contracts that clearly state this on them!

Instead he brought in the cheapest material Sandy/ clay mix Jeff did not grade, crown or shave the edges of our driveway...we were also told that the more we drive over the driveway the hader it will get. Im not a driveway/ dirt expert that is why you hire a " professional" which Jeff Davis is obviously not!!! We contacted him many times to come look at the driveway, he had finally came to look at it 6-7 months later agreed that it was really bad( muddy) and that he would with a better mix. Here we are 2 years later driveway is progressively getting worse...and still no JEFF DAVIS!!!! BEWARE HE IS A WANNA BE SMOOTH TALKING LITTLE CROOK!!!! I have plenty of pics to show and would love to Post....
Description of Work: Was hired to recondition our dirt driveway which is approx. 250'x 14 wide. Was suppose to bring in quality crushed road gravel, grade the driveway, bring in the edges and crown the middle.

Jeff did go back and address the problem! After informing the customer he would come back and redo the entire area again he brought out reclaim asphalt! Which is recycled asphalt! The best gravel closest to paving you can get! Not to mention the MOST expensive! This was used to build up the area in the roadway! After reading this comment I am positive of the negative, threatening Christmas card that was sent to my home and family! Not called for as Jeff has been nothing but professional! Yes you paid $3800 dollars for the roadway! Gravel is NOT a life long solution to a roadway! It will wash out with weather and wear and cause potholes! This is something that Jeff talked to your wife about while with me grocery shopping! He also told her that he was extremely busy and would go check out what was going on and she called him a crook and didn't want him on the property! Also again, I'm not sure what you expect him to do at this point? So, I will ask for Jeff as he already asked what will work for you! What can Jeff do for you without actually paving your roadway that will satisfy you? Please feel free to call me personally Betty! Or email my business! But please know that we have been out and redone the roadway twice! We do care about our customers! We try our best to please please our customers! I look forward to hearing from you about what you choose to do from here as we were asked not to come back and see what the issue was! Thank you for your business and know that we are here if you choose to resolve the situation! Betty

Work was done at the end of summer, 2013. Took them 2 months and numerous phone calls to get the job done, davis was supposed to spread loom (dirt) at the bottom, as the driveway was a foot higher than lawn, said they would come back in the spring as the loom was frozen. Numerous phone calls, never call back, and when he does it's all BS, thinks people are stupid. June of 2014, called numerous times, in reference to the loom and some issues with the new part of the driveway, sinking spots, holes appearing, collapsing areas in front of the garage, after making the 3rd call, left message that I was not going to put up with all the BS I had the previous year and would that other action. He called back and gave me more BS on why he had not returned my calls, said he had a job down the road the following week and would stop by to correct the problems and put down the loom, that would have been the end of June, here it is the 11th of August. He is all about getting the money, and your on your own. Would never, ever recommend, this company. I am probably going to take him to small claims court.
Description of Work: Put in new driveway from garage to previous driveway, then re-coated the existing driveway.

Our customers are very much appreciated! Sorry again if you feel we didn't live up to your standards! Also, the price of that job was nowhere close to what was displayed! It was 5,200!
