Excellent! On time or early, very professional.
Description of Work: Pete came out a bit earlier than the agreed ontime, was thorough in his evaluation of the job, gave me great information, both verbal and written, made some excellent suggestions and produced the estimate during the visit, we had a new segment of roof and once we agreed to terms Pete squeezed us in to a very busy schedule so the new plywood would not be exposed to weather for too long, they showed up and completed a fairly complex job (4 skylights to work around), except for painting the stovepipe) in a day as promised. Dave refused payment until they were completely finished. They came back on 11/28 to complete the painting. We are very pleased with all aspects of this job.

Had a couple leaks in a 20 year old roof. One leak was from a pipe collar, and the second around a vent stack. Had two other pipe collars that were not leaking, but were cracking and after 20 years was time to replace. Called DWM roofing and received a call back shortly from David Morris. Was quoted $275 for installation 3 new pipe collars with flanges, and sealing around a flu stack. Charged an additional $25 to clean out my gutters (saving me $80 on my Fall gutter cleaning). Planned to come out about a week later because of the holiday. However, came out and performed the repairs a few days later (day after Thanksgiving). Mr. Morris also did some other minor repairs and checked out my roof. Though it was 20 years old, he told me is was good for another 3-5 years, which was unexpected good news. Very happy with service and professionalism. Will definitely get a quote from them when it comes time to replace my roof.

DWM has performed several roof replacements in our neighborhood. Based on neighbors' feedback as well as Angie's List reviews, we contacted DWM and asked for an estimate in late October. Something we felt stood out for DWM was the fact that we have never seen a representative walk the neighborhood knocking on doors. We have been approached by a number of reps from other companies and were engaged in conversations we did not care to have. In our experience it seemed these young guys were sent in for a quick sale and had a touch of sleaziness. We cannot speak as to their price or quality and want to focus on DWM's service here, but the fact this was not one of DWM's practices here resonated well with us.. Aside from work trucks the day of the job, DWM only leaves a small sign in the yard after a job, which we would gladly leave for display for some time. We submitted a request for proposal online in the evening and were contacted the following morning. Peter Miller was our representative and promptly set up an appointment with us. He arrived on time. got up on the roof, inspected the roof and provided an assessment. He suggested replacing the roof as it showed obvious signs of deterioration. We also asked him to inspect the gutters as we had water gushing over the gutter during heavy downpours. He assessed the gutters to be in good shape but identified a loose fascia board in the location of the problem. Peter promptly made a note to fix this (at no additional charge). He also suggested hidden hangers to screw the gutters in in addition to the existing spike and ferrule. After inquiring about a proven system to keep debris out, he responded with E-Z-Lock gutter screens. He mentioned while they may cost a bit more at $6/ft, the coated steel was more durable, more impact-resistant, and longer-lasting than many alternatives. We agreed to cover the main roof but leave the garage as it was more easily accessible for us to clean out. We considered a regular 3-tab as well as an architectural shingle. We opted for the latter for a better warranty, a better overall product, a better-looking shingle, and only a marginally-increased price. Shortly after considering our options, Peter was able to provide us an estimate he printed in his vehicle. We received the invoice today, and it mirrors the estimate exactly, including the options we opted for after the estimate. Peter mentioned DWM was deliberately not in the practice of following up after providing an estimate as they did not want to push their services on potential clients. He said the next time we'd be talking is if we were to get in touch with him for further questions or moving forward. This, too, provided a level of professionalism. We contacted DWM several days later and decided to move ahead. At that time we also asked for the E-Z-Lock gutter screens to be included on the garage. Peter said he would look at the schedule that night and see when we could be placed on the schedule. He set expectations for November with a likelihood of the latter half of the month. He was clear in that schedules were always subject to weather changes. Peter called in mid-November and informed us our roof was on the schedule for the following Wednesday, provided the weather held out. Within days and after a day or two of rain, he called and let us know we were on schedule for Friday. Throughout the process Peter was always very good about keeping us informed, and we never got the feeling of being fit in last-minute or being forgotten about. This is what we expect from a professional and were served well. Throughout this last conversation prior to the job, I mentioned to Peter I was up in the attic to inspect air flow through the soffits and noticed a bathroom fan venting into the attic (albeit about 4 ft up and aimed towards the gable vent). Peter mentioned this was not unusual practice for the time the house was built. I said I would be more comfortable venting to the outside. He immediately added a slant vent to the order. The day of the job the crew arrived prior to 7am and began laying tarps on our shrubs and moving our garden furniture. The crew was on the rood shortly thereafter and began tear-down of the old shingles. That morning I met the owner, David Morris. We quickly talked about the job, and he assured us everything would be taken care of, cleaned properly, and finished in the afternoon. He was very personable and answered all remaining questions I had. He installed the slant vent and told me exactly what I needed to do to tie in the bathroom vent. I appreciated him installing the vent next to a rafter, so I could easily attach the duct. Another detail I appreciate was an additional rubber gasket on the vent piper to protect the pipe collar from the elements. This simple, cheap detail will ensure a leak-free vent for years to come. The job was completed in the early afternoon, and the crew cleaned up, blew leaves, and swept the area with a magnet to find any stray nails. All garden furniture was returned and arranged properly. The roof looks terrific and professional. This was very much a job well done. DWM provides a 10-year workmanship warranty at no additional cost. Peter was very clear that DWM stood behind this warranty, no questions asked. We take comfort in knowing we have worked with a very reputable company that stands behind their work with pride and quality. Thank you, DWM!
Description of Work: Our 23-yr old roof on our colonial house was replaced with a new 30-yr CertainTeed architectural shingle. Ridge vents were installed atop both house and garage. A slant vent was installed to vent a bathroom fan that previously vented into the attic. Hidden hangers and E-Z-Lock gutter screens were installed on both house and garage gutters. Drip edges were applied on the entire perimeter of the roof.

I contacted the company based on the Angie's List rating and comments. The phone was answered by the person who came out to give me the estimate. I had a leak in my roof and a fair number of missing shingles that I needed replaced. He came out 2 days later (a Friday) and estimated $275 for the job. He said he could do the work sometime the following week. I agreed to having the work done. He showed up Monday morning and completed the job in about an hour. I asked him if he could also clean out the gutters and he agreed to do that. When he was done I asked him how much more it would be for cleaning the gutters. He said there was no charge because he was up there anyway. He informed me that I should plan on replacing the roof next spring because it looked like the roof was 20-25 years old and the shingles were getting very brittle. He was very professional and did a good job. He even left me the extra shingles that he bought to fix the roof. Two days later I noticed that it looked like there was one place where there was still a missing shingle. I called the company and left a message and got a call back 5 minutes later. He said he wanted me to be completely satisfied and would be out the next day to check the spot where I thought a shingle was missing. I was very impressed with how concerned he was that he might have missed a spot that needed a shingle. Since I can only look from the ground I could be be wrong but he said that didn't matter, he would be out to check it out anyway. I will definitely call this company again when I am ready to replace the roof.

David Morris, the owner, came out the day after I called for an estimate. He actually arrived a 1/2 hour earlier than the appointed time. He explained in detail the problems with the roof construction that caused my leak problems. He promised me a written estimate would be provided by email later that day. He kept that promise. We agreed on a price and start date. The work was done promptly and professionally. There was an minor increase of $75 in the price as additional shingles were needed to cover more damage than was estimated. There is also a 5 year workmanship warranty on the repairs, which none of the other companies I interviewed would provide. I would not hesitate to use DWM Contruction in any future projects.
Description of Work: Removed existing shingles from valleys and walls. Replaced 2 sheets of rotted plywood. Installed certainteed flintlastic in wall catch area. Installed aluminum step flashing in walls. Installed new shingles in walls and valleys to match existing shingles. Sealed nail pops found in roof.

In looking for a roofing company, DWM caught my eye just by their website, which, in every way, bespoke "quality." That's, in fact, what we got, in spades, when we contracted with DWM to re-roof our entire roof and replace all our gutters and gutter covers. I. Roofing We first got an estimate on the re-roofing job from Peter, the operations manager, when he came out months earlier (before last winter) to take a look at our roof. We decided not to replace the roof at that time, since Peter said we could probably could wait a while. Other companies we had out for an estimate made no such claims or suggested certain repairs. I thought Peter, in fact, was totally honest with us and really strived to give us his best professional judgment on the issue of whether we needed to repair or replace the roof at that time. The roof, in fact, had some visible damage (minor, in the overall scheme) from previously-rubbing tree branches, and some visible cracks in the shingles (only visible upon close-up, not at "normal" viewing distance), but no leaks. Peter said he wouldn't repair the roof (by replacing certain shingles), and didn't think it needed to be replaced immediately, but would simply replace it in perhaps a few years. (I hope I am not misrepresenting what he said.) The following spring, though, another company doing work on our house remarked on all the cracks in the shingles, and even though I figured things were probably "the same" as before (we had no leaks), I asked Peter -- but no representatives from any other companies (because I had been so impressed with Peter) -- to come out and take another look. This time, Peter said things had indeed deteriorated, and yes, he would replace the shingles at that time. Hence, without even calling any other companies to come take a look, we contracted with Peter to re-roof the entire roof. DWM included, among other things, drip edge on the entire perimeter of the roof, and WinterGuard -- a waterproofing shield designed to prevent leaks from ice dams as well as wind-driven rain. Both were features we didn't have before, so we welcomed them. DWM installed CertainTeed Landmark Premium shingles -- with a lifetime limited warranty (and a 10-year workmanship warranty from DWM) -- as well as 17 sheets of plywood under the shingles to replace plywood that had been damaged, apparently, because of the cracks in our previous shingles. (Our previous shingles were of a type that was prone to cracking, as Peter explained, because the company was trying for a high wind rating -- yet the downside was all the cracking, because the shingles could not expand and contract properly in the heat and cold.) Neither Peter nor we knew beforehand (of course) how many sheets of plywood would have to be replaced until the old roofing was removed (in fact, Peter didn't even buy that many sheets of plywood initially, since he didn't know so many would be needed), but regardless, everything was completed in one day -- including replacing four skylights -- which was an exceptional accomplishment, in my opinion! (Peter said our roof is about 4,000 square feet.) In addition, our new roof included another feature that I hadn't seen before (not that I'm an expert on roofs), namely, brown aluminum pipe collars installed over the plumbing vent pipes (along with new rubber gaskets), with the vent pipes spray-painted brown (similar to the color of our roof). Whoever heard of plumbing vent pipes (that protrude from the roof) actually looking good -- as ours do now! For the more technically-minded (I'm not one of them), our new roof also included, among other things, CertainTeed SwiftStart Starter shingles, CertainTeed Shadow Ridge Hip and Ridge Accessory Shingles (hip and ridge capping), and Air Vent ShingleVent II (installed at the peak of the roof, to allow exhaust ventilation all along the roofline) -- all worthy features, I'm sure. Since installation, our new roof has performed marvelously, through a number of torrential downpours, the gusty winds from Hurricane Irene, and the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee. In fact, we were so impressed with our new roof that we contracted with DWM again, to replace our gutters, since our "old" gutters left something to be desired (to say the least). These, in fact, were nearly new gutters, just replaced a few months earlier by another company, but I felt they were so inadequate -- and DWM's work on our roof was so impressive -- that I felt it was "worth" replacing these "old" gutters (yes). II. Gutters and gutter covers DWM, in fact, gave us 6" gutters and 3"x 4" downspouts -- which didn't cost much more, and which DWM recommended over our previous 5" gutters and 2"x3" downspouts, because of our large roof area and steep slopes -- something the previous gutter company never even suggested. (Peter speculated they may not have had a 6" gutter machine.) Also, when our previous gutters were removed, the "expert" from DWM (26 years in the business, with a long history of satisfied customers) said our previous gutters were not pitched properly (which I'm sure was responsible, at least in part, for their overflowing); were not sealed where they abutted the house; employed cheap gutter hangers that can pull away from the fascia boards, and strip miters (as per our contract), which can leak; and were a mix of .032" (which we had contracted for) and lesser-gauge aluminum (not to mention sections of downspout, downspout hangers, and screws that were of a slightly different color from the gutters -- with the gutters themselves not of a color we chose (but should have been)). Moreover, we ditched our "pricey" Gutterglove Icebreaker gutter covers that we only had had for a few months, because they had no functioning self-regulating heating cables (as they should have had) to melt the ice in winter, to prevent the formation of ice dams. (The Gutterglove company (dealer) never set up the cables properly -- as discovered by yet a third company, which removed our Gutterglove Icebreaker gutter covers prior to our roofing job -- because, apparently, they (the Gutterglove company) didn't know what they were doing -- just as they didn't know what they were doing when they installed our previous gutters -- and I'll never deal with that company again.) Also, the Gutterglove Icebreaker gutter covers would have had to have been adapted to our new 6" gutters with brackets installed in the gutters -- and as Peter pointed out, the WinterGuard ice-and-water shield that we now have on our roof should protect us from any damage caused by ice dams, even if it can't prevent them from forming. (This gave us a new way of thinking about ice dams.) In addition, our new larger gutters and downspouts should be more apt to remain patent (not blocked by snow or ice) throughout the winter. So, instead of re-installing the Gutterglove Icebreaker gutter covers on our new gutters, we got the E-Z Lock gutter guards from DWM that Peter recommended -- that should let more water into the gutters than the Gutterglove Icebreaker, yet should still keep out most of the debris -- and should be easy to remove, for cleaning. (We may still have to get the gutters cleaned once or twice a year -- since we live next to the woods -- but that may be a small price to pay for free-flowing gutters that don't overflow.) And just like our new roof, our new gutters, downspouts, and gutter covers have performed marvelously since we got them -- without a hint of overflow or leakage from any area. Included during this time have been the several days of rain -- with many heavy downpours -- from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee! (I guess this shouldn't be a revelation, but it is to us, given the performance of our previous gutter system!) III. "Extras" Besides giving us a new roof, gutters, and gutter covers, Peter helped us out with "little things"-- at least to him, but very meaningful to us, and at no extra charge -- including straightening out an underground drain that another company had left crooked, which was visible from the front of the house next to the garage; removing some screws that "didn't belong" that another company had left visible on a fascia board; pushing down a "leftover" irrigation hose on the deck, that I still wanted to keep but make less visible, but which was wedged in too tightly for me to budge; and before the installation of our new gutters, removing the "leftover" self-regulating heating cables of our prior Gutterglove Icebreaker gutter covers that were never functional to begin with(!!) because they had never been set up properly (what a ripoff). Also, Peter discovered and picked up some debris that the previous gutter company had left behind! IV. Summary Most importantly, we got both a superb roofing job and a superb gutter -- and gutter-cover -- job from DWM (and I do mean superb, in all respects), and I would recommend them -- and employ them again -- in a heartbeat! And the roof and the gutters and gutter-covers not only perform great, they look great as well -- money well-spent!!

They presented themselves very well during the estimate. Not only did they provide the lowest estimate, but they left me feeling more confident than any of the other 4 companies that came. They did the work on a signature. No money down. They came the day they said they would. By the time I got home from work, the job was done. Later in the afternoon the owner inspected the job and used a magnet around the house to pick up any nails. Some highlights: No money down. They provided a lifetime architectural shingle for only $130 more than the 25 hear 3 Tab shingle. The cleaned the gutters when they were done. They spray-painted the white PVC pipes to match the roof. 10 year workmanship warranty.

DWM Roofing Company provides exceptional service. The quality of the work done was exceptional. They were just an absolute delight to work with right from start to finish. It was the easiest thing that we have dealt with since January. If everything was that easy and that wonderful, life would be good. That?s how good they were. I would use them again in the future. I wanted to update my review for DWM ROOFING - Dave Morris was the most professional, considerate, detailed, and understanding contractor we have ever had in our home. Besides my plumber, he is the only contractor that has done work that we haven't had problems with after the fact. Even when we thought we might have had a leak in the roof 6 months after installation, he came climbed up in our attic and surmised it was the newly installed bathroom exhaust fan pipe that caused water damage on my son's room ceiling. He said the pipe was tilted down from the outside opening vs up, therefore if the rain was hitting that side of the house the water came in and ran down thus dripping in the attic and staining the ceiling. No charge for the visit and as always, he was very kind, friendly, and professional. I have referred many of my friends to him and those who decided to replace/repair their roof went with DWM Roofing. Also, within an hour of finishing the roof, when I came outside to take a look, the exterior of my home and lawn looked as if NO ONE HAD EVER BEEN THERE !!!! My lawn and mulch areas were immaculate. I had commented during the sale that I was worried that my small dogs might find debris/nails in the lawn and eat it. When Dave came to inspect the job he brought a sweeper magnet to catch anything that the naked eye might have missed. Honestly, he didn't find much. That was a surprise because when another company did our siding/windows we were finding their debris in our lawn and mulch areas for over al year. I would be happy to recommend DWM Roofing to anyone who is willing to listen. Dave is "GOOD PEOPLE" in all sense of the word and so his the integrity of his company. DWM wasn't the cheapest quote, THEY WERE THE BEST QUOTE FOR THE EXCEPTIONAL JOB !!!

DMW Roofing was extremely responsive - continuously giving me updates when weather made it dangerous to go up on the roof. Shingles were replaced and an estimate given for roof replacement. I was shocked to feel water dripping from the bathroom ceiling, climbed up into the attic, found a puddle of water, but could not tell where the water was leaking in. I placed a bucket on the area as the rain continued. The next day, when it was sunny, I discovered that I could see skylight around a vent pipe going up to the roof. With heavy rainstorms predicted for the rest of the week, I needed to act quickly. I scoured Angie's list for names of roofers, and phoned DWM. The owner was between appointnments and happened to be 10 minutes from my house when I called. He came immediately, replaced the vent collar, tightened some ridge fasteners, assured me that the roof and gutters were in good condition. I went on with my day and my life, much relieved. The owner was professional, easy to work with, generous with his information, reasonably priced, and I'd recommend him to others and use him again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Replaced the vent collar, checked roof overall, tightened ridge vent fasteners. Townhouse built in 1973.

DWM Roofing Company was excellent. Everything went really well. They were very professional. The sales person that I dealt with was more like a worker so he wasn?t trying to sell me up. Their product is comparable to other roofing products. They had some really good suggestions. I got three other quotes and DWM Roofing Company was definitely the best.

I called after being referred by a few friends and seeing they had an excellent review on Angie's List. Having contacted roofing companies in the past for repairs/estimates, I think what stood out here was responsiveness. Despite their having a lot of calls for storm damage, I had an estimate the same day and repairs done the next day. When I was told it would be "today or tomorrow" or "Tuesday or Wednesday", it was "today" and "Tuesday". The roofers were here briefly to repair the trim and replace the shingles. It is hard for me to tell if they did check proactively for other problem areas (as promised) because we have a steep roof-- I guess time will tell. As others comment, $275 is a lot when they're here such a short period of time. But most roofers have this kind of minimum for a repair. And a "plus" with DWM is they bought a box of shingles for the job that are now mine. So, next time we need repairs, it won't be as expensive. I don't think most other places do that. I would definitely use them again.

Thank you for the great review. I am happy everything went well with your roof repairs. I really wish we didn't have to charge as much for a minimum as we do. Unfortunately in Maryland we are forced to use Chesapeake Employers Insurance Fund for our workers compensation. We pay a ridiculous high rate and that is why in the roofing business you pay a lot more than if you called almost any other contractor to do work at your home. Please let us know if we can serve you in the future. Thank you for your business!

Fantastic! I have several jobs that need to be done in my home and I was especially concerned about the roof before the winter. I had been researching roofers and saw this very clean truck with DWM Roofing on it driving on I-70. When I got to work, I checked out their website, looked them up on Angie's List, then scheduled an estimate through their website. I had a message when I got home. I called back the next day and Dave said he could come in two days to take a look. Early that day, I received a phone call at work and Dave explained exactly what was wrong. He said he could do it right then and gave me the estimate for the call (the least they charge) and said he'd bill me. I have to take it on faith that it was fixed since it's in a place that's hard to check but with the reviews I've seen and the experience I had, I would be shocked if there was something wrong. After the h*ll I've been going through with a Sears' contractor not showing up (twice) in the same week, this experience was heaven. I only wish the other jobs I have were appropriate for their company. I received the bill today and it was exactly what was quoted. I will gladly recommend them.
Description of Work: "Renailed and sealed apron flashing." This was for a section of roof over a bump-out in my living room. During a few very windy rainstorms, water had leaked from the ceiling of the bump-out into the room.

They?re good. They had the best warranty agreement of anybody we looked at and the best quality of supplies and suppliers. They were responsive. There was one problem; we had a burnt out patch of grass and they did come back and looked at immediately. We are still waiting to see if it?s going to come back or if they?re going to have to replace it.

Thank you for the excellent review. I am happy we were able to provide with warranty and products in the industry. Unfortunately in the summer time when we lay our tarps down to protect your property when tearing off your old roof sometimes it leaves some burn marks in the grass. They usually come back with watering them in a couple of weeks. Please let us know if we can serve you in the future. Thank you for your business!

Everything that they did was good and I can?t think of anything bad. They showed up when they said they were going to and did a very good job. They gave us more than anyone else said they would give us. Their bid was the lowest bid that we had received. They put ridge line vents on every single ridge on the house, which I never expected them to do. They had the most entailed perspective for the roofing job than anyone else. I would recommend them to others and I would definitely use their services in the future too.

My skylight began to leak on a Saturday, and I called several roofing companies to see if anyone was open. DWM was open and scheduled me for the next Monday morning. The roofer showed up on time and checked out the roof. He told me that the flashing had come up alongside the skylight due to some nails popping out. He removed the old nails, nailed everything back down, and sealed the area. That was several weeks ago and the skylight has been water-tight ever since - and we've plenty of rain to test it. The cost of $250 I thought was a little steep given that he was only at the house for about 30-45 minutes. However, I don't know much about what it should have cost and we had a torrential downpour that afternoon so it would have been counterproductive for me to get multiple estimates in this instance. Overall am quite satisfied and will have them out for an estimate on some other roofing work we need to have done.

The overall project went very well. We called them and set up a time for an appointment for a review to obtain a quote. They were one of three that we talked to about the project. They were the only company that came prepared to go up on the roof to see what the project would entail. The company representative the prepared a quote on the spot based on three different type of roofing material. He answered all questions and advised that we review it and call him with any questions. The other companies sent sales people that only wanted to sell not consult with us about the project. We selected DWM because of they came prepared and were responsive. The initial impression of the company was carried through when the materials were delivered when they said they would be and the roofing crew did as well. They worked the first day from 7:00 until dark (8:00pm). They policed the property for all debris and returned two days later to complete the project. Rain forced them to skip a day. They completed the job and sent me a bill for the completed project three days later. There were no problems with the install and the roof makes the entire house look better. I would recommend DWM to everyone.
Description of Work: They removed the old roof, replaced rotten plywood panels, installed new 50 year shingles and ridge vents, removed and replaced four skylights, and cleaned up the entire area including some paper materials that were blown several yards away.

Wow, what an amazing recollection of your experience. All of our trucks are equipped with ladders, so we never price a replacement job without first examining the roof ourselves. We find it very important to walk the roof and look for any thing that may be unusual and present that information to the homeowner right away. And communication thew out the whole process is very important to us. We believe in informing the customer of what is happening every step of the way. It is also unfortunate that rain sometimes delays our work. However it does make it easier when we have an understanding customer just like yourself. Thank you again for the great review, and should you ever need anything in the future please let us know.

The owner, David Morris, is quick to call you back and for simple jobs like this will provide an upfront price on replacement. He had the work completed early the week following being contacted. He also sends a bill, which I prefer over paying in advance. I like to see that the work was done before paying.

Thank you for the review. You will be happy to know that 8 years later we still return messages the same day (usually within the hour), complete all work in a timely manor, and never take any money upfront. We believe it is these basic simple things that has allowed our company to grow bigger every year.
