Our house had an existing gas furnace from 1973. The a/c unit was more recent but still considerably old. Additionally, a previous owner had built a family room and sunroom addition without providing an efficient means to heat and cool the rooms. Therefore, we decided to replace HVAC to service the original house and add mini splits to service the additions. The HVAC installation started 10/11/18 to 10/12/18, and the mini split was installed 12/17/18 over 3 days. Southern Pride had to return again on 1/2/19 to install the thermostat for the mini splits. Since the installation, they have been out to service the unit. I choose Southern Pride for the following reasons: 1) The first person who came out to provide me the estimate appeared knowledgeable. He took the time to inspect the existing system and determine where everything ran. As a result of his visit, I learned valuable information about the system. He also took the time to answer all my questions. I never felt as if he was trying to sell me anything extra. He had retired by the time recontacted the company about doing the work. They sent Chris to meet with me. He also took the time to answer my questions and review the original estimate that I had received. Additionally, we discussed the installing mini splits in the addition. 2) Since I would qualify for rebates from Pepco, I had to use a company that was on its list. Although there were several, there weren't many that were on Angie's List. 3) I wanted a company that would service the systems annually, and I felt comfortable with Southern Pride's customer service. 4) They did work at my place of employment as well as a building project near my job. 5) They installed the type of system that I wanted. 6) The estimate was better than the other company that was listed for Pepco and Angie's List. I was pleased with the work done by Southern Pride. Prior to the start of the project, they came back out to discuss it and review what would happen during the installation. There was a slight issue over the installation of the mini split. Southern Pride misjudged how they were going to install them so more damage had to be done to the walls than necessary. However, the company resolved the issue to my satisfaction. The HVAC unit works well. Its a big improvement over what we had. I'm also happy with the decision to install the mini splits. It changed the way we can use the space especially the sunroom which originally only had a A/C unit. The company has been responsive to my calls for service. When I have an appointment, the person shows up. It's usually Chris who will call to tell you he is on his way. If there is a problem, he takes the time to diagnose the issue. With the new systems, it's important to have them serviced because everything is computerized. It's an added cost to have them inspected regularly but the systems aren't cheap. It's better to discover a problem before it becomes worse. Based on my experience, I'm comfortable with having Southern Pride provide that ongoing service. I was able to get rebates for all 3 units. Southern Pride handled dealt with the paperwork for two. I sent the information in for the third but Southern Pride provided me what I needed.

I contacted Southern Pride to diagnose the issue with my Trane air handler and Honeywell zoning device. The system is only about 6 years old so while it may not be new, I didn't think it was time to replace any major part. I paid them $95 as a dispatch fee. They quoted an additional $3000 for repairs saying it needs a new motor, among other things. I called another technician (B&B Heating & Cooling) to get a second opinion. Sure enough the problem was minor, some of the dampers were screwed in the wrong way and the zone that wasn't working was wired to the wrong part of the board. They only charged $210 but got the whole issue fixed. I'm very disappointed with the way Southern Pride handled this.

at the time of construction 16 years ago, all seemed fine. however, within several years, a new unit was needed and many workmanship flaws were discovered by the new company's installers. then very recently (the last straw), i discovered deep in the crawl space, a one-foot gap in the duct work. this explains why heating bills every January and February have been extremely high as air was blowing unimpeded into the open crawl space. to be fair, this was not discovered when a new heating until was installed, and also not discovered by a home airflow audit.

We have a half electric, half oil air conditioning unit. We priced out a bunch of people and they came back as the highest quality, and are very competitive. They were incredible. The owner always answers the call or calls us back right away. They are just wonderful.

I received quotes from several different vendors and selected Southern Pride due to price. After signing the contract for the work, the manufacturer of the Geo equipment changed their shipping system which caused extensive delays in delivering my new system. Southern Pride gave me the option to order from a different manufacturer in order to expedite the delivery however the new system was going to cost an additional $2000. Southern Pride negotiated with the new manufacturer and was able to get me a better price. After finally receiving the new systems Southern Pride employees did an excellent job with the installation. They were very professional and showed up at the job site on-time every day. They also cleaned up every day before leaving. They addressed any and all concerns that I had.
