We purchased our new home in September last year. It came with a pool and we even had McConnell do the pool inspection for us at the time. We did not open the pool since it was so late in the season, but called McConnell in Oct to secure a date (May 4) to open the pool. I registered my concern about the pool not being open for 2 seasons and stated that it probably needs an acid wash, but that I’ve never cared for a pool before so they would need to look at it. So we (excitedly) booked it for an opening and a potential acid wash. Since I called so far in advance I was expecting them to arrive first thing on May 4 and even called a few days earlier to confirm. On May 4, they arrived at 2.30pm after numerous calls to their office to find out where they were!!! I really expected to be the first appointment given the work required for the pool and because I booked it months ago. They removed the pool cover, flushed everything, dumped some chemicals in the pool, stated that I had a cracked pipe (connected to the automatic pool cleaner) that they could not fix today because they didn’t have the part and that they were slammed because they had 11 appointments booked for the day. I asked about the acid wash and they didn’t think it was necessary, stating that the chemicals would eat away at the built up grime and dirt in the pool. They said they would try and come back tomorrow (Sat) or call tomorrow to return and fix the cracked pipe. I did not hear from them until Monday. By that time, I had already called another pool company, because I had spent the entire weekend scrubbing the sides of the pool, skimming it and collecting leaves and a dead rodent from it. The new pool company suggested that we should drain it, perform a light acid wash and refill the pool. We have a 30,000 gallon pool. So, needless to say, I’m really annoyed at having donated $400 to McConnell. To be fair, everyone I dealt with was very friendly, but I just think they either have too many customers or don’t have enough staff because in hindsight - my pool was a mess, but I just felt like they didn’t have the time to ‘deal’ with it.

We had a ripped pool cover and they repaired that as well. They were extremely friendly and did a great job.
