I have been involved in construction for over 30 years, and this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Many promises made and not fulfilled. The owner, Dominic, does not actually work on the job much and calls on a variety of his buddies in competing masonry/concrete firms to do actual labor. They work for him when they have nothing to do on their own, so it's hit or miss. He wasn't there more than half of the time, but no matter: when they did work, he and his crew never arrived to work prior to 9:30 AM, took one hour for lunch, and left by 4:00 PM. The job took more than three times the contracted timeline (in spite of the fact that we had penalities for overages in writing.) He even went on a cruise in the middle of my job! Started work on October 16, 2010, finished on March 5, 2011 - ridiculously long time to build a regular house foundation, even considering the weather. He refused to use plastic tents or protect the site against the elements as he said "that cut into his profit too much." He held up all other subcontractors and made entire job run months over time. (However, Dominic was VERY consistent in calling me and requesting another draw on the money!) Also, Dominic is unable to work around other subs. He fought with them and complained loudly if anyone was even working near him. He wanted the site all to himself. My electrican and carpenter refused to come on the job if Dominic was there because his temper made them uncomfortable. (He threw tantrums that we all called "hissy fits.") Saddest part of all was the quality of work. My masonry work has inconsistently sized mortar joints, mortar color varies depending on the batch mixed, lines are not straight, and the overall job is inferior. I tried to get someone to take over the job when Pour Boys was taking so long, but no other contractor wanted to follow behind such poor quality workmanship. I finally paid Dominic off just to get rid of him (and with his temper, I was afraid to subtract late charges for what he might come back and do to my property.)
Description of Work: Built new foundation for my home. Included pouring concrete footers with rebar and constructing masonry walls (concrete block and brick) with air vents and access door. Built back porch and front steps from brick as well.
