I searched on Angie's List for a service provider that could refinish my chairs. I typed what I needed to be done, and sent the request to all of the providers in the Maryland service area. Everyone replied, but Walker Furniture services sent a reply that really demonstrated that they had the expertise to make my furniture exactly what I wanted. I was on the fence of whether I wanted to buy new chairs or refinish the ones I had. There was a chair set that I saw online by Marge Carson that costs thousands of dollars. It was really grand and elegant. I sent pictures of the set to all the furniture service providers and asked "who can finish my existing furniture to look like this?" Some of them replied "We should be able to" and "I think we can give you that look and finish". Rusty, the owner at Walker Furniture Services, called me and assured me they can do it, and even explained the process. Then he scheduled a time to pick up the chairs and quoted me a price that was too good to be true. When he brought the chairs back to me I was stunned. He took my regular chairs and renewed them with such high quality I was impressed. I am so glad I got the chairs refinished instead of buying new ones. Out of all the other companies I spoke to, I definitely picked the right one. Amazing. The attention to detail is incredible. The finish has a perfect sheen to it. This company is so professional. I would definitely recommend them for any furniture work.

The company provided such excellent work and at such a reasonable price! And as an added plus -- actually a huge one -- they actually came to the house (from upper Maryland to Loudoun County) to pick up the swing part and chair and returned both in a timely fashion without any additional cost. I wholeheartedly recommend Walker's Furniture Service!!! They are terrific and again services performed at a very reasonable price!!!
Description of Work: The company provided reupholstering services. They installed new fabric for the outdoor porch swing and on a family room desk chair.

I accidentally broke my wife's wooden antique rocking chair by placing my winter coat on the back. Somehow it managed to survive over 100 years, but we only had it for about 3 months before totally ruining it. As you can imagine there was much hostility in my household, as it sat in the garage for a long time while I looked for someone to fix it for a reasonable price. I did a search on Angie's list and came up with several providers. Most of them wanted at least $100 JUST TO PICK UP THE CHAIR!! Nevermind the cost to fix the back and possibly need to recane it, which could easily go above $500 alone. I contacted Mr. Walker (Rusty) and sent him pictures through the Angie's list messaging system. He was extremely polite and said he could pick up the chair, fix the back, and possibly fix the caning for roughly $150. Seeing how the other providers wanted basically that amount for pickup alone, I told him to come pick it up. The work took probably 3 to 4 weeks total. We scheduled a time to have the chair dropped off at our house. My wife was home at the time and was extremely impressed with the job he did. I was thankful that he was able to repair the small bit of caning without needing to redo all of it (would have taken longer and cost a lot more). It's a shame that we don't have more wooden antiques for me to break, because I'd love to use his services again. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Rusty came to the house gave me an estimate and an appointment to come and fix the pieces in my home. The broken shelves needed to be taken away and fixed and brought back. He did the work beautifully and with care. I was very satisfied.
Description of Work: I brought several items of furniture from my mother's house in Illinois to Silver Spring, MD. One old cabinet had pieces of veneer missing and two broken shelves. One piece of furniture had doors that didn't close without rubbing. Another old piece had shelves that needed to be fitted in individually oddly cut places. A final piece had a drawer and doors that didn't close properly.

Rusty from Walker Furniture Services arrived 15 minutes early and already had thought about two ways to repair the bed frame from the pictures I had sent him. Once he decided how he was going to do the repair, he clearly explained it to me and it was clear to see it was the better option. Once repaired it was obvious that the repair was a sturdier/stronger repair than the previous one. Rusty even helped me get the box springs and mattress back on the bed frame before he left. I would call Walker Furniture again!

After a very bad experience with another furniture refinishing company it was a pleasure to deal with such a professional. His task was to refinish the work that the first company did such a poor job on. Unlike the first company Walker gave me an accurate estimate and delivered the work on time. The care and quality of the workmanship was obvious. I only wished I had gone straight to him in the first place and saved myself some money and heartache.

I had first contacted Rusty after moving back to our old apartment after a fire that had resulted in minimal fire damage but fairly extensive water damage and moving damage to several pieces of our furniture. Almost all of our pieces are mid to high end furniture from various High Point furniture manufacturers and all were less than 5 years old. Some of the damage was water damage, but a lot of it was due to poor handling on the part of the people who moved us out of the apartment, stored our furniture while apartment repairs were done and then moved back our furniture. The fire occured in November 2010 and by the time we moved back it was February 2011. After all the insurance settlements were done, we wanted to get an evaluation of how much it would cost to fix all the repairs that were determined NOT to be due to water, but rather mishandling by the movers. So I called Rusty Walker. Rusty came to the apartment on time and promptly (and did not charge an assessment fee), assessed all the pieces (about 15) and gave me an estimate of $580. At the time we were thinking of moving and figured there may be further damage from that, so held off on pursuing the repairs. Well as it turned out, we ended up building a new house and moved in April 2013. Well there were no new damages from our move. However, the Christopher Guy mirror that I had been hiding underneath my bed for all these years and finally had hung on the wall, had mistakenly fallen, leaving the mirror part intact, but the wood broken in several places. I was able to save some of the chipped wood but not all. So, in May 2013, I pulled out my old estimate, and I called Rusty. Rusty not only remembered me, but was willing to honor the estimate he had made two years ago! He was extremely friendly and generous with his time and spent one whole morning doing the touchup repairs onsite. I even asked him to do a few additional minor touchups for which he did not charge extra. As per the mirror, he took it back to the shop and brought it back 3 weeks later...like new...well almost new. I can see where the repairs are and probably he can too, but no one else can...and I have very discerning family members...trust me he is good. Bottom line. You can not go wrong with trusting Rusty Walker with your furniture projects. I would call him again myself if the need came and I would recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Rusty did touchups of chips and paint that had come off after water damage and/or moving damage on over 15 items (chests, curios, beds, dining table, bed...etc). That cost $580. He also repaired a very intricate Christopher Guy mirror that had fallen off the wall and the woodwork had broken in multiple places. That cost $125.
