I got quotes from three builders for the demolition of my old wood deck, to be replaced by a new one using Timbertech/Azek decking materials. Tom was by far the most reasonable and had top-notch reviews. You aren't paying for a large pricey showroom with him. You are getting quality workmanship at a reasonable price. The process went smoothly from start to finish and I would highly recommend.

Local family business that takes pride in workmanship. Very accountable with timelines and budgets. Tom provided all the documents needed for our HOA, which made the process smooth. Our deck is the talk of the neighborhood for its design, size, and looks. Would highly recommend if in the market for a deck.

His work was OK but slow. He gave me a time frame of one month and it took more than two to complete the task. Mr. Barna never put in an 8 hour day. A few hours here and there. Sometimes he just showed up and dropped off some materials and left. Usually he appeared around Noon and was gone by three P.M. He also did some things of questionable nature like framing the deck on top of my shrubbery. When I asked him why he would do such a thing he replied "Usually the customer will us not to" His words "You know how it is some times when you get on a roll you don't want to stop ? " His son stood there nodding his head in agreement. This seemed to be a no brainer to me that if your going to build something you would be sure there was nothing in the way to interfere with that construction. If I had not caught him in the act and insisted he cut down the shrubs he would have surely continued. By now I would have bushes growing up under the deck and between the boards of my deck. Another move was the removal of some of the siding where the old deck was connected to the house. It was raining that week and I happened to go downstairs to get a tool. Water was running down the cider blocks above the windows because the rain flashing was not properly reinstalled. Now I have trouble with the gazebo door not shutting and out of alignment and the gate posts are loose and need reinforcing to make them solid. I have tried to get him to come over and look at his work sent him E-mails requesting assistance but to no avail. He E-mailed me back and gave me attitude about how busy he was and yadda yadda. Mr. Barna had no problem taking my money though. Every time he knocked on the door it was I need another 10,000 dollars. Ten thousand here ten thousand there to the tune of 46,000.00 dollars i paid. I kept my end of the contractual agreement and paid him in full and on time. Now that the project is finished and payment requirements have been met it so long. I call for service and what do I get ? Attitude and I will get to it when I get to It. The **** with my plans right ? The irony of all this is that the deck hasn't even been used yet and its already falling apart. loose gates and doors that wont close lumpy siding that was not replaced but just shifted around is not the mark of a good craftsman and the refusal to come over in a timely manner speaks for itself. It seemed that the closer we got to the end of the project the sloppier he got. Smearing window caulking and screens that don,t fit the window openings all spell sloppiness and just get it done. If I had to rethink this project again, I would rethink this project again... and not with Russett Decks.

Tom and his son did an excellent job installing our new deck. It is such a pleasure to look at and to use. His craftsmanship is truly exemplary. We highly recommend him.

Tom Barna is a true craftsman and does excellent work. He tore the old deck and hauled it away then started the frame work for a whole new project. Step by step I monitored the progress checking the way he did things against you tube videos. Every cut was spot on and every decision he made was a good one. Joining and connecting railings digging post holes and pouring footers all done up to code. Never once did he tell me no. On top of all this he was just a nice person to deal with. No dark agendas lurking in the background. If all my contractors were like Tom I would be a happy camper for sure. If need future work done I will hire him for sure. Tom god bless your honest heart and spirit.

It was perfect. My wife and I had been discussing a deck or a patio for the back of the house for 3 or 4 months. We contacted Tom and he came out in just a few days. We sat down and shared our general thoughts, and he made recommendations based on that. No long meetings, no sales tactics. He just took our ideas, and then a few days later sent us a plan. We offered some changes, which he perfectly incorporated, and within a week of signing paperwork he was starting our project. He worked through the snow, and finished the deck in less than a week! The cost was higher than we wanted it to be, but it was definitely very competitive. Good craftsmanship is not cheap. We are thrilled with our new deck, and strongly recommend Tom to anyone looking for a deck.

Tom built a roughly 500 sqft deck for us using Azek. About half of the deck is rectangle screened porch. The other half is slightly irregular deck. They are pretty high off the ground as shown in the picture and the stairs also curve back to the side of the house to save space. Tom and team did a great job. I get a lot of compliments from friends and neighbors I waited almost two year to write the review to make sure the build quality stands up to time and it did!

This is a nice family business. Tom is a very skilled carpenter and did a beautiful job of fitting the deck boards against my curved garden wall. My brother-in-law who does carpentry gave the job a thumbs up and he's hard to please. He also commented on the quality of the wood. I get a lot of compliments from friends and neighbors. I look forward to seeing them this spring to do the sealing. Thanks Tom!

Tom performed exceptional work taking down an old deck and building a new deck. The deck looks great and he added some nice touches such as a railing and a diagonal floor board design. Additionally it’s more than I expected and very safe too. I highly recommend Tom for his work, I am very pleased!

The project got started a little late due to weather delays. Tom Barna and his son did all of the construction. The finished deck is beautiful, and the workmanship is outstanding. We were totally pleased with the process and the results. Mr. Barna designed a replacement deck, adding a second level step-up area. He removed the old deck cleanly and quickly, and built the new deck with excellent materials and good workmanship. We have no reservations recommending Russett Deck Professionals.

The new deck looks absolutely beautiful! I contacted Russett Deck Professionals, Inc. in June and Tom Barna, the owner came out to give me and estimate. I appreciated that he did not use a high pressure sales pitch or try to interest me in "extras" - I explained what I wanted done and he gave me the estimate, which was reasonable. I signed a contract and the work was scheduled for late August as his schedule was full until then. The work started a bit later than originally scheduled due to the really bad weather, but he had warned me before I signed the contract that this might be the case. The business is family owned and Tom and his son did all the work. All the debris from the old deck was carried away and the yard was cleaned up properly after the work was completed. I am very pleased with the work that was done and would certainly recommend them to others.

Tom was quick to respond to my inquiry for a new deck/porch estimate. Price was very reasonable but decided to postpone the project until a further date. Will contact again in the future when we decide to proceed.

Russett Decks tore the old deck and built a gorgeous screened porch. Tom's attention to detail and quality of work are stellar. The porch is top quality.

The contractor is a great carpenter and the deck is beautiful. The decking is AZEK composite. The railing is Trex vinyl with an AZEK topper and 12 volt LED post caps. All workmanship is first class, and we are very happy with the result. This is not the cheapest contractor, but the result is worth the extra investment.

Have lived at property 20 years, with small 12x8 wooden deck. We simply used this deck to house our trash containers, and never once purchased a table/chair set - to entertain company. We also never treated the deck once - simply left to itself, it was virtually falling apart at time of construction, and not very safe to walk on. Interviewed 7 candidates for this project - a replacement synthetic deck slightly larger in size (12x12) for our smaller home. Russett Deck (Tom) impressed us with their knowledge of the industry, trends, products and experience. Visiting their website and becoming educated about deck construction (in laymen's terms), strengthened our confidence that this was the company to sign up with. The attention to detail was evident. We were secure in Tom's ability to do a quality job with the product of our choice - Azek. After clearing a few obstacles with our local home owner's association - project construction got delayed til year end time frame (we did not mind, since we weren't planning to purchase furnishings/use til spring of 2017 anyway). The foundation Tom made was MUCH stronger than our previous deck, with corner bevel cuts and very firm post/handrail settings. He also installed decking (Vintage Mahogany) in a nice diagonal pattern, with beautiful (Kona) border edge - to complement the lightposts/handrails (Kona). Indeed, the Azek Posts/Handrails/Balisters and Lattice Skirting finished this deck off in superior fashion - giving it a top notch appearance within our community. Truly appreciated, was the special stairway Tom made to accommodate my wife's mobility issues - by reducing the risers dramatically. This required proper slope and foundation pourings. My wife can now safely walk from the deck to the back yard! We found Russett Deck Professionals (Tom) to be professional, down to business at the work site and extremely trustworthy - to make the right choices when necessary. I had pre-planned this deck construction, but deferred to Tom in numerous instances - to resolve unforeseen issues. Am happy to say, that we feel very secure with his choices/advice. We would not hesitate recommending Russett Deck Professionals to anyone looking to replace their current structure. Tom works with his son, minus the crew. This ensures a higher quality/no nonsense/more responsive work product at a competitive rate. What we have now is a new life (Spring 2017, when we inaugurate this beautiful deck with table/chairs ... for the first time EVER in our home)!

They did a good job. The clean up was fine. There were a few nails that were left around but it was no major issue. There was an issue as far as when the people came out to inspect the deck. There was an issue and they came out to fix it. They were great with the service. The deck is wonderful and I had no other issues.
