Description of Work: Tom built a second story 14 x 34 two-level pressure treated deck with 2 sets of stairs and landings. After receiving 5 different bids, we selected Russett Deck because of price, excellent Angie's List reviews, and our opinion of him during our initial meeting. He answered all of our questions (we had many), and also offered suggestions on the design which we accepted. His presentation was low key with no pressure. Although his price was the lowest, the quality of materials was the best. He used all 6 x 6 posts, C-Select 2x6 decking (clear with only a few knots), and #1 PT lumber for the structure and railings. For a pressure treated deck, it doesn't get any better than that. He also obtained the permit, and his work passed the inspections with no issues. Tom removed the old deck and built the new one by himself. It was amazing to see him work. No laser levels or high tech equipment, just quality craftsmanship. The deck is perfectly level, and structurally sound. The finished deck looks great and has been admired by everyone who saw it. We highly recommend Russett Deck to anyone who is considering having a new deck built.

He helped me design the deck I wanted, and paid particular attention to my particular likes and dislikes. As he demolished the old deck and built the new, his work was always careful and meticulous. Every day he left the worksite clean and picked up. He even assured that any materials that stayed over night were moved to a concrete area, so as not to damage the lawn. It is clear that Thomas takes great pride in his work, and anything he builds he does so as if he was building it for himself. I would highly recommend this company!
Description of Work: I had my old deck removed and materials hauled away, and a new maintenence free deck built in it's place.

+ 0 moreI made the initial call for an estimate and Tom came over on Saturday morning. Tom came prepared with a portfolio of his previous work. Tom has worked on some major decking projects. Tom provided an estimate and I signed the contract the following week. I did get other estimates from companys I found on Angie's List, but I felt Russett Deck would complete the job better than the other decking companys based on his experience and looking at the portfolio. The estimate was in the margin of expectation. Tom took care of the permit and coordination with the inspector which added a couple days to his work waiting for them to approve everything. All the work was completed by Tom which was pretty amazing. Tom worked just about everday in the hot and humid weather and even with all the bugs invading his space. Tom took his time and made sure the platform tiered deck and landing was level and square. The previous platform decking was held up by bricks and rock! We love our new and level Trex deck! Great job Tom.
Description of Work: Replace existing rotted redwood deck around the garage with new pressure treated frame and Trex decking. Replace existing platform deck, stairs, and landing with pressure treated lumber and Trex decking.

+ -1 moreThe guy did a phenomenal job and it only took him about a week to build the deck. He was very timely and had a good design. Instead of being parallel, the deck was diaganol and has a better look and more support this way. He had a great looking website too and it helped push us to use him. I would definitely recommend him to others.

+ -1 moreTom, the owner, responded promptly to our request for an estimate. (We already had plans drawn up by an architectural company.) His price was competitive. His experience was strictly decks and porches and he was very professional. Our other estimates were very close and the companies were also professional. We liked Tom's experience. He built the porch and deck that we wanted and not what was easiest for him. He uses top of the line materials. He made recommendations for items based on his experience but did not pressure us to make any specific changes. He started the project on the stated date and finished just a little later than projected (due only to weather). He handled the entire project from beginning to end, including permits, inspections, delivery of materials, construction and clean up. We are very happy with the porch and deck (and cannot wait for warmer weather to use it)! Tom was a pleasure to work with. We gladly recommend Russett Deck Professionals.
Description of Work: Russett Deck Professionals built a screened porch and deck for our home. The screened porch included two skylights and a ceiling fan. There were stairs on one side and a ramp on the other side leading to our driveway. We used low maintenance decking materials.

+ -1 moreWe had a great experience with Tom. He did all of the work himself, with no assistance. Tom built exactly what we asked, in the timeframe he promised, using only top quality materials (we used Azek). He is also an excellent craftsman, highly skilled, with an attention to detail that shows in the beautiful product he creates. We really felt like we hit the jackpot in choosing Tom. He made the effort trouble free, and is the best contractor we've ever had. We would recommend him highly, and choose him again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Tom, owner, came out twice, once to give an estimate, and a second time to sign the contract. We had a deck built that was 32 feet in length, and 14 feet deep for one-half, and 12 feet deep for the other half of the deck with, a deck railing and posts, and two sets of stairs. We found Tom to be very willing to negotiate in order to make the price competitive without sacrificing top quality in the specs and materials. We showed him pictures of what we wanted, and he also had excellent suggestions that added value to the design. He was very informative regarding various deck materials and which were considered the best.

+ -1 moreTom made two trips to our home; first to provide a quote, and the second trip to have us sign the contract. He later called back when the necessary paperwork was approved by our HOA and the permit was approved. The project was started a week earlier than we had anticipated and he accommodate the fact the we did not have the up-front money that was agreed upon in the contract. But the best part the deck looks great and went up in less than a week.
Description of Work: Tom was very punctual in the initial contact, providing an estimate, and providing the plans so that we could get HOA approval quickly. I was impressed how quickly he put up the deck and the quality of the product. He did not have any helpers or assistance
