Response from NaturaLawn of America - Baltimore West
Hello Mrs. [Member Name Removed], I first want to apologize that we were not able to meet your expectations. Anything less than an A rating is not good enough in our opinion. I am glad that your lawn looked great in the spring and fall and I think where we fell short is setting expectations about the summer months. While watering does help keep your grass alive through the summer, sometimes the heat itself is just too much to allow the grass to stay green all summer long. We live in a transition zone for grasses and cool season turf is most suited to grow in temperatures of 80 degrees or less. Anytime the temperatures go above this, the lawn will tend to stress. Aside from the high temperatures of the summer, it also takes a large amount of water to keep a lawn green all summer. I looked over your account and though you did water, we have the notes and codes on your account that the lawn was often still too dry during the summer. We also noted that the lawn was mowed below 3.5" for some of the season, which also reduces the grasses ability to stay green through the summer. Again, I am sorry if we did not set the expectations correctly for the summer. In this area, there is almost always a month or two where the lawn stresses and does not look its best. Our goal for non irrigated lawns is to weather the heat and get you to look great again in the fall, which we accomplished. I also see that you have continued with our Mosquito Plan this year, so thank you for continuing to work with us, we really appreciate it. For this summer, I suggest longer and more frequent watering and raising your mow height to 3.5" or taller. When checking your mow height, make sure that you use a tape measure or the length of a credit card to check your deck. The settings on the mower itself are often inaccurate. I would love to discuss your lawn further, so please reach out to me anytime. Thank you Bill Wilson Naturalawn of America
