Customers deserve more than what this company provides. They cancelled our service visit twice, and lied about it the second time. After the first cancellation, we had to wait over a month until the rescheduled visit was supposed to happen. The day of the second visit after the technicians were already late, the nasty receptionist stated that they were "definitely still coming," but never showed. Furthermore, a year ago they came to troubleshoot a faulty Lennox thermostat they sold us previously because it was not working properly, but instead fried the electronics and told us we needed to purchase a new $450 thermostat from them. No way! Bought a new Ecobee thermostat for a fraction of that and it works much better. Do yourself a favor and choose one of the many other reputable HVAC businesses in this area.

Do not trust what this company tells you. They will try to charge you more money for a problem that doesn’t exist. We had a service tech come out and evaluate what was wrong with our AC system. He spent a total of 5 minutes at our house, only looked at our outdoor unit, and told us “You might have a leak in your air handler but I don’t want to go in your attic to look at it, so I’ll just have someone come out to quote you for a new system.” When I called the office to say I was unhappy with the service, the service manager told me they would waive the service charge and send out another tech to look at our system and evaluate the problem. The second tech told us that he thinks there might be a leak, but couldn’t know for sure. We had two other companies look at our system and determine that there was no leak and it was a different problem entirely. A month later, we received a bill charging us for the service after the service manager told me he was waiving it. I have called several times to discuss this with the service manager and have been told every time that he stepped away from his desk. This company will just tell you lies, so go with a more reputable company if you need something fixed.

We started noticing our AC was cooling below the point from which it was supposed to stop. We called them and a technician was supposed to come out. They were to call us 30 minutes prior to let us know he was on his way. He showed up within the window agreed upon but he did not call us when he was on his way.. He didn't know what was wrong and he said it possibly needed a new thermostat. He was wanting to charge us when it was under warranty. We thought he should have asked if it was. We went and spoke to another company who came out and they fixed it in 15 minutes. I eventually spoke to one of the managers who said he had worked for this company for a number of years but he did not have his journeyman's license. In my opinion, the prices they charge is outrageous for what they provide. We will not use them again.
Description of Work: We have been paying $480 a year for them to service our HVAC system but they do both visits per year in June. . This was supposed to include emergency back up service but we found out this does not include weekends in the summer. The additional fee was $139.

Our Trane AC was no longer working after 22 yrs. Called Modern Comfort to get a second estimate and within a half hour Glen the estimator call me back, and was able to come out to the house the next day. Modern comfort was recommended by our neighbor who worked with Glen and recently had their units replaced and converted to gas. Glen was great, extremely helpful and patient answering all our questions and there wasn’t any hard sales pitch. We decided to replace the AC and furnace at the same time. The following day the install crew came out, Kevin, Chris and Tyler. Kevin, as installation lead, was great patiently explaining and answering questions and each crew member was very professional and respectful. I was very impressed with everyone from Modern Comfort from the initial call, prompt return of calls, availability and scheduling but most of all how professional each person was, which speaks to their outstanding customer service! And pricing was definitely a big plus! If your looking for a group that seems honest, fair, professional and responsive, call Glen at MC! Thank you Modern Comfort team - the AC came just in time for the August heat.

Very professional from estimate through installation. Very happy with unit and customer service when I called with stupid question, were courteous and helpful. Called back this year for my first free check up of system, Nice young man who spent about half an hour going over things in attic and outside. Please with follow up. (Purchased unit in August of 2017)

Repairs completed and heating systems worked. Very expensive. Heat out in both 1st and 2nd floor zones. Parts needed replaced so they waited to get the second part before they came out to replace them both. Even though they charged separate fees for each zone as if it was a different job. I talked to multiple people in the office and had to re explain the situation each time. Not timely in responses nor did the mechanic ever communicate to me what the issues were until i called the office. ( this property is a rental property and the renters were there when the mechanic was on site). He performed the work fine and was knowledgeable, not happy with the company.

We have a contract with them. Whenever we need service, they come. They do very good. I've used them for about 10 years. I go back for their quality of work and their punctuality. I would recommend them. They are reliable and you can count on them.

Minor start delay on one day but consistent with my stated ratings.
Description of Work: I had Mod Conf provide us, along with two other companies, an estimate for replacement AC system (includes duct work, wiring, thermostat etc). Mod Comf was not the cheapest proposal (some $ driven by the unit I chose where others proposed less costly solutions) but their proposal was most complete turnkey - meeting one of my criteria for best value.

They troubles shoot it and figured out the problem. They were very prompt and they came the same day.
Description of Work: Out thing had shut off a couple times. The reset button tripped the line a couple of times so out heat went off. They came out and they serviced it at no charged to us.

This company came out and checked a non-functioning air conditioner. Its technician, who arrived hours after he was supposed to show up, diagnosed the problem as requiring a new motor, which he installed for $800.00. The system worked fine the rest of that day. But when I came home from work the next day, Friday, the system was not working. I called and was told that this company would send someone out but, because it was Friday after 5.00, only if I paid an "emergency" of $125.00 plus a diagnostic fee of $100.00. I asked why it did not stand by its work, and was told that the warranty for repairs was only in effect Monday through Friday, and from 9.00 am to 5.l00 pm each of those days. Outside those times, I was told, I would have to pay these additional charges. When I said this was unacceptable and I expected the company to stand by its work, I was told (after the person on the phone consulted the owner) that if I waited until Monday, the company would waive the emergency fee--which he had just told me is not in effect during regular business hours on Monday, anyway! When I said I was insulted by that and that I expected the company to stand by its work and come out without charging the fees, the person on the phone said he did not have to listen to such disrespectful talk and that the owner would call me: he then slammed the phone in my ear. The owner did not bother to call back that night, thought I left two additional messages asking him to do so. Eventually, on Monday morning, the owner called and left a meaningless message that cut off after only a few words. I never heard anything else from them. In the meantime, I called another company, Blue Dot, which came out, did not charge an emergency fee or a diagnostic fee, and fixed the problem quickly.

An MCS technician performed an initial installation, but this had problems, and the equipment was slightly damaged in the process. I notified MCS about this, and they promptly and without any hesitation replaced all the affected components. The components they replaced (two inside units and the outside unit) were a model newer than the originals, and everything is working fine. While the initial installation was not good (and why the Professionalism grade is a B instead of an A), the follow-up was outstanding. This is the third system we've purchased from MCS, and all are functioning without issue. The two other systems are propane furnaces, and they were lower cost estimates than we got from competitors. Glen Leppo, who spec'd the systems, sent us the proposals, followed up on the installations, and oversaw the Mitsubishi replacement has been most excellent. We have since switched over our maintenance of all systems to MCS, and I expect we will purchase new systems from MCS when we need them.

Let me start by saying overall, the diagnosis and repair were spot on. I will definitely use them again. That being said, my frustration was with communication and follow up. They were prompt with their diagnostic visit. Following that visit I had to make several calls to "babysit" making sure my issue was being addressed. I didn't feel I'd have ever received a call if I didn't check in on status. The diagnostic tech told me the part could be obtained within 24 hours. The 24 hours went by and I had to call. It appeared they didn't order the part because they told me I couldn't get service until at least the following day when the part arrived. I had to call back the next day to make sure the part arrived, at which time I was able to make an appointment for late the next day. Because I had to check on this frequently, I called back on Friday to check and make sure my tech was going to show. They told me he would and he showed up not long after my call (clearly on his way prior to my check in). Throughout this process I had questions about whether the part was covered under warranty and was never given an answer. I tried on 3 occasions to get this question answered. I didn't learn that it was covered until after the work was completed. That made no sense to me. Throughout the week, I gave thanks that the weather wasn't super hot like it was the weekend the unit broke because it ended up taking a full 4 days from initial diagnostic to completion to repair. At the end of the day, getting the right work done right is a good chunk of the experience and I do appreciate that. My own business is built around customer service - I expect things to be handled without having to check in and found this frustrating.

I have a heat pump in an addition to my home and an oil furnace in the main house. These folks had a maintenance contract on both. After multiple repair attempts on the heat pump and a conversation with the service manager last heating season I gave up and engaged another provider to get the heat pump functioning correctly, Hence when the contract came up for renewal, I didn't renew it. Last night the phone rings - and its a robo call from Modern Comfort asking me to call about "an important issue" with my account. I call the number provided by the robo call and I get a recording that says "our offices are closed." It seems that they use the Credit Department's robo call capability to call customers regardless of whether they are delinquent or not. Modern Comfort is not sufficient IT savvy to differentiate the message. The unapologetic credit department manager tried to blame me for calling the wrong number - when in fact I merely called the number they left on my voice mail. It also took this provider three tries to get my oil furnace working correctly last season. The last tech who came out to work on it - looked at the service history - shook his head and installed a Tiger loop to keep the oil flowing properly and I haven't had an issue since.

The technician was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable. He was also very thorough with checking out both systems. We have them come to our house every spring and have always been satisfied with their service.

The humidifier is working fine. If we have a problem, they will always come back within a day. The quality of their work is very good. We've had no problems. We don't compare prices; we just trust them.

It is all about the competence and confidence I feel about the company about to do the work. This was a big and expensive choice for us that we would live with for a long time and would affect our everyday comfort climate wise in our home. We felt comfortable with the knowledge and patience that the estimator had when discussing our options. He took the time and educated us on the alternatives and the possibilities. He brought in the person that would design the ductwork changes for us so we could make intelligent decisions. We were given 3 detailed estimates for different scenarios we discussed. We chose one, and then contracted for Modern Comfort to do the work. The work took about a week due to the fabrication and installation of the new ductwork. They coordinated the pump out of the remaining oil in the tank and the removal of the tank outside and the old abandoned tank that was in the basement for 40 years. The old ductwork was removed and the new installed. This involved adding 3 new returns in the upstairs bedrooms. The old furnace and air conditioner were removed and the lines removed and holes sealed. The new Lennox 2 stage system was installed and the compressor was installed outside. All items hooked up. Luckily this was done in May during the time when we actually did not need ac or heat so we were not uncomfortable for the few days we had no unit. All communications were good, the contract was followed, The estimator followed through on the entire project and checked for our satisfaction even two weeks after the job was finished. The company provided rebate information and followed through. The manufacturer offered a rebate as well as BGE. Both rebates were received within 2 months. We are very satisfied with our new system and configuration. Our electric bills has already decreased even taking into account the lower temps this summer. We look forward to having Modern Comfort service our systems through the coming years.
Description of Work: Remove oil furnace and two oil tanks. Relocate hvac unit to opposite side of the room for better floor plan. Install new high efficiency 2 stage heat pump furnace and ac. Remove old ductwork and build new ductwork for returns for better airflow and to accommodate new location. Install new smart internet connected thermostat. Check out all systems and follow up.

I called for same day service on a 90+ degree day and got it. They promised a technician would arrive after noon, and he arrived at about 3:00 pm. He replaced the capacitor, which was clearly dead. This enabled him to check to see if the unit would run correctly. It did, but he thought it needed refrigerant. He quoted prices per pound,mand added only one pound. He gave me a 15% discount on the refrigerant. A/C is working perfectly. Great job!
