I had used Arocon before for my roofing needs and when I and the neighboring landlord decided to replace the gutters on our connected rentals. The other landlord asked me to get some estimates, so I decided to contact Arocon and another company. I had contacted Arocon via the Angie's List messaging explaining the complexity of the job. My rental and the other landlord's rental have a connected gutter system with a downspout that is smack on the dividing line between our houses that is near falling apart. The young man who came out to give an estimate showed up early and was pleasant enough. Because I had to leave early, I asked him to just email me the estimate. One week passed. Nothing. It was around Christmas, so I figured that was the hang up. Second week passed. No estimate. I called the main number and was told that the young man who did the estimate would get it to me that week. Third week. Christmas and New Years had passed, where's my estimate? I called again and was told by the receptionist that he's get the estimate to me that day. I'd been checking my email and my spam folder looking for this estimate. Later that day I called the main number again and was patched through to the young man. When I spoke to him he expressed concern about working on a connected gutter and said he was afraid of getting sued by the other owner. I was too angry to explain to the young man that I and the other owner were united in our goal to replace our gutters and it was the other owner who said go get some estimates. He asked if I still wanted the estimate. I said yes, and 5 days later, I have not seen hide nor hair of this estimate. I really wish the young man had the courage to tell me weeks ago that this was something he or Arocon would not do. Instead, I had to waste my time chasing down an estimate that probably was never written. I am now going to go with another gutter provider who DID provide an estimate. This other company was recommended, so I hope it goes well. A roof issue also popped up but I will go with another roofing company since it also involves a neighboring townhouse on the other side. When I find a company that I could work with I tend to stick with them. But this experience was so disrespectful of me as a customer, I cannot work with them in good faith again.

AROCON is awesome. Used AL deals for roof repair on two occasions and they were great. When time came to replace the roof, I called them. Price, quality, timeliness, and professionalism were top notch. Would recommend them to all !

Looking through our records we did need to reschedule the first appointment due to a scheduling conflict and weather issues. In regards to the second appointment we called and emailed the day before to confirm and did not hear anything back from the customer, then when we called the day of to say that we would need to move the time we also did not hear anything back. We do apologize for any miscommunication or inconvenience, and if we have incorrect contact information we would be happy to update that as well! If you have any questions or concerns please call our office at (410) 861-6767.

In the process, I learned that an airflow in the attic from the eaves to the roof ridge is the modern way. This system replaces attic fans. The new system requires venting near the eaves (soffits) and of course the roof ridge vent. My 1957 home did not have any soffits. Some roofing companies did not include this in their estimates. Arocon did include a lower venting system (not soffitts but the same idea) in their bid. They installed a mid-roof vent rather than venting near the eaves as my home has a roof overhang. All went well but about 20% of the pine boards (not 4 x 8 plywood) required replacing. The roofer took pictures with his cell phone and at least I had that visibility of the project.

I have never found a worst company than Arocon. There was problems from the beginning until it ended with a BBB complaint. The worst part has been that they scratched 6 windows in the back of the house, broke an exterior lamp and several window screens. They replaced the lamp and exterior screens, but now, 3 months after they finished the work, I'm still waiting for them to replace the window glass for those 6 windows. Arocon called a company to make an estimate and the price was 200$ per window. Arocon did not contact me about it, I had to contact the other company directly to get the info. Arocon was to settle the damge with a $500 refund that does not cover the replacement. The most incredible thing is that I warned the roofers while they were throwing shingles and damaging the windows but they said it was going to be ok. A few weeks later a manager came looked at the windows and said the scratches would come off. In general there has been problems from the beginning, from the moment they ask you to sign a paper to represent you to the insurance company and they don't, to when they block my garage with materials and it takes them 48h to move them, they leave them on my lawn for two weeks killing my lawn, to the rescheduling of the project ( they were contacted in March and the job was done in July) and the lack of communication and professionalism. I absolutely dont recommend Arocon. Stay away from this company!

Nikolas Gordon inspected my roof and determined that the builders never used house wrap and water was getting into roof joint behind the siding. Nikolas offered to caulk the immediate areas where the water was likely entering at no charge. He called in to the office for me to arrange for an estimate to re-side and wrap the house. Arocon replaced my roof just under 5 years ago and I had a great experience with them then. I appreciate that they are supporting their work even though it appears this leak was not caused by anything they worked on. Because of Nikolas's professionalism and previous positive experience, I will be considering arocon to replace my siding when I decide to do that.

Arocon is not good at communication. I had someone come by to look at my house for new windows and replace my rear gutter. He showed up, looked at my place, and said he would get back to me with the estimate. I never heard back and a follow up email from me was ignored. I called the head office, was handed off to a couple people, and was told that someone would get back to me within 24 hours. Still haven't heard back. The repair personnel themselves might be competent, but I would be very hesitant to do business with a company that is this bad at basic business processes. You might be setting yourself up for a lot of headaches down the road.

Austin Lowe (my technician) was extremely professional, timely, and efficient. He arrived at my house on time, and quickly got to work on assessing the status of my gutters and roof. He provided pictures of his work/findings, and also discussed with me the work he completed. He was extremely helpful and I would definitely recommend using them again in the future.

The entire experience dealing with Arocon has been extremely difficult. Throughout the process, there had been no communication on scheduling, installation dates, or consistency. During the entire process, as I attempted to make contact many times to get answers to questions or even receive my promised paperwork via phone or email, often never getting any response. In the end, there were several problems with my installation and it took months to resolve all the issues. I initially called Arocon to get a quote for a roof repair after mine was damaged in a wind storm. They were helpful in working with the insurance company to get them to help explain the damage and need for my roof to be replaced. However, each time the salesman came out to my house, the contract/quote that he created before mysteriously kept disappearing and he had to re-enter all the information, with slight fluctuations in the price and details. Despite my original contract saying “valid for 30 days”, that clause seems to be invalidated when they when they lose the contract, despite being well within the window. Additionally, the format of each contract was very different from the next, making it extremely difficult to compare each version to make sure nothing was missed. In my case, the installation of ventilation fans from my bathrooms was missed in the final contract (despite being promised to me and included in all prior contracts). I also missed that it was not included in the final contract and to Arocon’s credit, they did install the vents eventually, albeit after I complained heavily. After I signed the contract and got a hold of the scheduling team, the replacement of my damaged roof was scheduled 6 weeks later. My roof was already in a damaged state, so I wasn’t happy about this timeframe, but I understand it was a busy time for them, due to storms. I was told that I would be receiving a phone call the day before my installation to go over what I needed to know to be ready for my new roof. That call never came, so I reached out to them around 5pm the day before my scheduled install. They informed me that due to weather, my project was delayed and they would let me know when it was rescheduled. Two days later, I heard nothing and called again. When I called around midday, to my surprise, they told me that they were just about done with my project, while never informing me that my project actually WAS rescheduled. I never received any information warning me that my roof would be replaced that day or what I had to do to prepare (such as open my gate or move lawn furniture). When I did come home that day, I discovered that the (blatantly) wrong color gutters were installed and the vents I expected were missing. I was disappointed, but not at all surprised, given the difficulties I had with this company up to this point. I immediately called up Arocon to inform them of the issue and they said they would look into it and get back to me. It took constant prodding on my end to get any traction, as their poor communication shone through and I heard nothing back. The result was that the gutter color I was sold does not exist anymore (if it ever did), so they were unable to install gutters in that color. After complaining, they sent someone out to choose a “new” gutter color to match what I was sold and had previously chosen. The result of that meeting was that they decided the gutters were installed poorly and would be replaced. Also, the color I was supposed to get is just unavailable, so they decided to replace my gutters with a new set of gutters of the same, incorrect color! They agreed to replace my gutters again, free of charge, if the HOA complains, which doesn’t really help me, since they do not have the color the HOA approved! All of this was promised to be delivered in writing, which I did not receive until over a month later, after constant pestering. After this meeting to inspect my gutters, I was told my gutter fix would be done ASAP and I should expect to hear from the scheduling team very soon. After waiting for about a month, I finally called Arocon again to see if they were actually trying to schedule my gutter repair. Someone took my name down and said they would call me back later. The next day, they again called me to tell me my work was almost done, after NEVER reaching out to me to schedule! After this final time, the gutters were indeed replaced, but are still the non-HOA-approved color that I didn’t want in the first place. Overall, the communication with Arocon has been extremely painful. I am also displeased with the results and the fact that it took 4 months to even get this far. I was assured by Arocon that my case was atypical of their customers’ experiences, but I find that hard to believe given the problems I had at every step in the process. I will not be using this company in the future and do not recommend them.

When I detected a water mark on the ceiling of a second floor townhome bedroom I contacted AROCON to provide an inspection and estimate for a roof repair or replacement. The “Project Consultant” (whose name I’ll withhold) arrived on time. I directed him to the problem area and we discussed the potential cause. He brought his step ladder into the room and went into the attic via the access in the closet. After 10 to 15 minutes he came back down and advised me that the problem was a leak in the fire sprinkler system and not the roof. He never went onto the roof. He told me he had a friend/relative who did sprinkler work who could assess and mitigate the problem. He called that person from the house and after the phone conversation told me that his contact would call me at the beginning of the following week. After I did not receive a call from that person I called and left a message at the AROCON consultant’s number. I did not receive a return call. Subsequently I contacted a sprinkler company and agreed to a two hour minimum charge; this company, upon inspection, assured me there was no problem with the sprinkler system. To make the situation more frustrating, the AROCON tech had pulled back a considerable amount of insulation and never placed it back into position. The result was that subsequent rain had a much more direct impact on the drywall ceiling and consequently the carpet, and further increased the ceiling damage to the point that replacement rather than repair was evident. I contacted a reputable roofing company to place emergency tarps until proper repairs could be made. This process became considerably more expensive that it should have been and further exasperating because the repair took longer than necessary. A personal observation is that notwithstanding the A rating for this company, there seems to be many more Fs than for other companies.

We do apologize for any miscommunication. Due to the volume of rain and storms in our area, several of our projects have had to be moved which means that some appointments have needed to be rescheduled. According to our records, our team did reach out to the customer one week prior to the appointment to reschedule due to the weather delay. Again, we apologize for any miscommunication or misunderstanding.

I cannot say enough good things about this company, specifically Eric Consuegra. My roof had much damage due to the March 2 storm. I faced problems with my insurance company, including that they wouldn't let me initially fle a claim. Eric helped me every step of the way. He always quickly responded to my questions. As an elderly woman, I have met with several contractors who have looked at me thinking, "Watch what we sell to this old lady." I may be old, but I'm not stupid. It was a delight to deal with a company that treated me like an intelligent human being. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how helpful Eric was! The new roof is on and looks great!

I purchased a roof tune-up with this company through Groupon. Unlike some companies that get overwhelmed when they offer a Groupon, I was able to schedule my tune up within a week and a half of making the call to schedule. I was given a 3 hour window, and the person they sent up showed up 5 minutes before the window started. He was very nice, honest, and professional. He replaced a shingle, checked the gutters, repaired it in a couple of places, and gave me an honest assessment of my roof. He also took photos so that I could see what was going on up there. Fortunately, I do not need any more work done on the roof but when I do I will go back to them.

It didn’t. Nathan showed up promptly and gave me an estimate for more than I really wanted to pay ( but they had a minimum so I signed up for gutter replacement instead of repair and I don’t think the price was unreasonable). I signed the contract and returned it. He also told me he was going to give me an estimate for a roof replacement as well which he didn’t do and I do need my roof replaced. With the signed contract I reminded him I also still wanted the roof estimate and I asked where to send the 1/3 deposit for the contract work. No further response from him and it’s been 2 weeks. They are either really unorganized or my job wasn’t big enough so they just decided to ignore me. In either case - I’ve worked with plenty of companies and this was really unprofessional. And Nathan seemed knowledgeable and I really wanted the work done.

AROCON apologizes for any miscommunication. Unfortunately, our consultant did not receive the signed contract for the gutters due to a computer issue, and we have reached out to the customer, and are sending the estimates for both the gutters and roofing in order to move forward with these projects.

Arocon was assigned for our roofing project by Lowe's. We signed the agreement with Lowe's on 4/26/18 and have made two installments to Lowe's since the contract was signed. I spoke with Nancy on 5/7/18 who informed me that the roofing installation was scheduled for 6/26. I was disappointed to hear that we would have to wait 2 months from the date of the contract for the installation, nevertheless, we waited patiently. From May 7th to June 25th, I had no contact with Arocon. On the morning of 6/25, the materials were delivered. At about 11am, I called Arocon and spoke with Nancy, the person who scheduled the job. I was curious about the dumpster for the waste and wondering if they were providing it. It was then that she told me that the materials should not have been delivered and that the job was postponed to a later date TBD. 1. Arocon must have known that they were behind on job sites as soon as the prior week. 2. This job was not just for my roof, but for my neighbors roof as well. Arocon had two different contact information, yet neither my neighbor nor I were informed of the postponement 3. Arocon scheduled this job, it is their responsibility to contact the customers 4. After I had called the morning of 6/25, I was told the job was postponed. That notification is less than 24hrs from the original start day/time 5. Had I not called on 6/25, would we have been notified at all? Would we be left high and dry on the original start date of 6/26? After speaking with Nancy, who promised a call back to my neighbor as well on 6/25, I have had no other productive contact with Arocon to date. I emailed Nancy on 6/26 and did not get a response. On the morning of 6/27, I contacted Arocon to address this matter with upper management. I spoke with a receptionist. She took note of my concerns and told me she would pass along to Mark, a production team manager and owner, who was in a meeting. I gave Mark ample time to respond seeing as the message was left in the morning. I did not get a response at all. Lowe's has since dropped them for my project and gone with a different roofing company who has given us a timeline of two weeks to be onsite. ------- Update 7/11/2018: Below is the response by AROCON to my previous review. While I realize AROCON doesn't want any negative reviews, AROCON should know how their business is conducted in the eyes of customers or potential customers. I'm not here to bash AROCON, but it does seem that their poor reviews have a common thread, which is the lack of communication with customers. I hope that by bringing this to AROCON's attention, they can take steps forward to remedy the problem. "We do apologize for any miscommunication, however, this is not a very accurate portrayal of our company. AROCON is a contractor for Lowe's, and does not have control over when things are sold or gotten over to us for scheduling." FACT: YOU WERE GIVEN THE JOB BY LOWES ON OR ABOUT MAY 4TH. ON MAY 7TH, I RECEIVED AN EMAIL AND A CALL FROM NANCY SCHEDULING THE JOB FOR JUNE 26TH. FACT: AROCON HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS JOB AND IT WAS ALREADY SCHEDULED 8 WEEKS OUT FROM THE DATE AROCON RECEIVED THE JOB. "... due to the rain and storms we had during the month of June we did need to reschedule this work." FACT: YES THERE WERE RAIN STORMS AND AROCON SHOULD HAVE KNOWN AHEAD OF TIME, AT MINIMUM, THE PREVIOUS WEEK, THAT THEY WERE PUSHING BACK OUR JOB. FACT: NO CALL OR EMAIL TO WAS SENT OUT PRIOR TO THE START DATE OF JUNE 26TH TO RESCHEDULE THE JOB. I ACTUALLY CALLED WITH A QUESTION ON THE AFTERNOON OF THE 25TH, IT WAS THEN I WAS INFORMED THE JOB WAS NOT GOING TO BE PERFORMED AS SCHEDULE, LESS THAN 24HRS BEFORE THE ORIGINAL START DATE/TIME. "During the time that the customer of Lowe's had called us, Lowe's had informed AROCON that they would be using a different contractor for the installation, which is why AROCON did not call back to reschedule." FACT: YES LOWES DID PULL AROCON FROM THE JOB ON OR ABOUT JUNE 28TH. AROCON AND ITS OWNERS HAD 3 FULL BUSINESS DAYS BEFORE THEY WERE PULLED FROM THE JOB TO CONTACT ME TO RESCHEDULE OR APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISCOMMUNICATION. 1 MESSAGE TO NANCY, 1 MESSAGE TO "MARK" (OWNER?) AND 1 EMAIL TO NANCY WENT UNANSWERED FOR 3 DAYS BEFORE LOWES PULLED THEM FROM THE JOB. "We do apologize for any miscommunication or misinformation." FACT: CUSTOMERS WOULD RATHER GET A CALL EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE ANSWERS RATHER THAN FEEL LIKE BEING LEFT IN THE WIND.

Appt was scheduled for 25 Jun. I called back within 40 minutes and left very detailed msg with their service explaining no work should have been done on my home on 13 June. No call back on 14 June, 15 June. Received another voice msg and an email from office on 18 June seeking payment of invoice. By this time I was home and discovered work was not done properly. One end of wrapped fascia board left open - gap for wind, rain to enter, supposed to use PVC mounting blocks for downspouts and not only were they loose and not properly mounted they were wood and NOT PVC, large gap left uncaulked between fascia and wall. Called and requested a manager come to my home ASAP and indicated I had no intention of paying balance until job was done properly. A manager came the next day, He acknowledged the problems with the installation particularly where things were not done as specified in the contract. He arranged to have team come out on day they were originally supposed to come 25 Jun. When they showed up that day, the man in charge of the 2 person crew kept trying to insist I did not need PVC he could use concrete nails and mount the downspouts with straps. Touted 10 years of experience and kept insisting I was not understanding what he was telling me. After telling him for at least the 3rd time I wanted the work done per the contract which called for 1x6 PVC mounting blocks I came into the house and called the manager who had come out previously to write up the work order for the corrections. Had to leave voice msg for him to call this guy and insist he complete the work per the work order and per the contract. I presumed he had somehow gotten through to him when I went back outside later and saw they were using PVC blocks. When all work was done and they asked me to look it over this same guy pointed over to a neighbors downspouts and pointed out to me the way they were mounted which is what he was trying to tell me I should use but I was not understanding. I pointed out that half the straps were broken and then took him to back of my home and showed him a previously replaced downspout mounted with block not straps and told him I had specifically requested that the new downspouts be done in same manner for a “cleaner look” and maintenance free - thus PVC. Do not understand why I should have had to deal with installer trying to change the specs on a signed contract because he has been doing this for 10 years??? This company was not the cheapest but I was so impressed with the project consultant that spec’ed the job that listened to what I wanted and wrote the contract accordingly that I chose them for this relatively small job. Way more trouble than they were worth, bad enough they messed up the date but to ignore my message until they call days later wanting their money but to have to deal with an installer that kept insisting he knew how to fix the problem and I was not understanding him - pretty clear he did not want to be bothered with doing what the contract specified. Anyone that uses these guys should def make sure you are home and make sure the installers are following the specs for the job per contract. And don’t believe their verbiage in contract about running a high power magnet over lawn throughout and upon completion of job - I specifically watched these guys as they loaded and finished - no such magnet used but I just wanted them gone so let it go. I “thought” using their own employees vs subs would equate to an advantage but pretty clear the guy leading the repairs was more interested in getting it done the easiest for him. Absolutely astounded that I had to “argue” to get the job done as specified

Simply stated, this interaction was perhaps the worse customer service experience in over 25 years of being a home owner. From the scheduling of the work, to the final bill collection, the transaction was handled extremely poorly. 1.) We signed a contract and provided 1/3 of the total cost as a deposit May 25th but didn't get a call from the office to schedule the work until I call the sales rep and back and asked for a my money back a full 9 days later. My roof was leaking so much we had to place buckets to catch the water but no one from this company offered to help until I learned from another company that I could have asked them to provide a tarp for some relief. 2.) I received written confirmation that the work would be completed on 6/18 so I arranged my schedule to be home. No one showed up. I called and was informed that my job was scheduled for the 19th but no one thought to call me. 3.) The contractors that did the work were good and seem to have done a credible job. 4.) I was going to remit my final payment but was just informed they charge the customer a 3% fee for using a credit card. That's not mentioned in the contract and I was not informed of the policy when I made the purchase. Ironically, now that I owe them the final balance, they have been able to call me 2 times. Funny how that works.

Response from AROCON Roofing & Construction
AROCON has reached out to this customer several times in reference to their concerns, but have not heard back in regards. To address the issues 1. The contract was signed right before the Memorial Day holiday, however, the customer was contacted the week after in regards to scheduling. 2. When informed that the project was unable to be completed on Monday June 18th, we rescheduled for the very next day June 19th in order to complete the work in a timely manner. 4. All of our contracts, including the contract signed by the customer do have a clause that states that there is a 3% free for using a credit card (Clause #11). We do still have an open balance on this, and have reached out to the customer to discuss the concerns that she has several times, and are waiting on a call back to resolve these concerns.

Arocon came out and gave estimate and then we hired them. They performed work a few weeks later and did a great job from beginning to end, including cleaning up after installation of siding.

A adam nefferdorf was sent out to assess our roofing issues, first off he was a fast talker, never once climbed the roof to see exactly what was needed. To make a long story short, he did not want to do a repair and replace job,he wanted to do the entire roof, made up a story saying he couldn’t get to us for a whole month, are you serious with rain forecast for the next 5 days. He thought he had us saying it would be 500 dollars for a temporary tarp and 1250 for the repairs. But we had a back up contractor that was excellent, they repaired our roof before the rains came and the siding for Less than those schemers at arocon. I guess he took one look at us and thought we were to stupid to realize a con artist when we see one.
Description of Work: About 15 shingles replaced and some siding secured.

We do apologize for any miscommunication or misunderstanding. Unfortunately due to high demand after recent weather events, our schedule is booked out by several weeks. We are able to do immediate emergency tarps as needed. Due to the height and pitch of the roof, it was deemed unsafe to access the roof at the time of the estimate, however, our consultants are able to do ground assessments and/or interior assessments if necessary. We apologize again due to any misunderstanding there may have been, and as always we are happy to discuss this further by calling (410) 861-6767.

Very professional job. Arrived on time and completed quickly. Roof tune-up was all we needed and it was all taken care of at a very reasonable price.
