+ -1 moreOur dog woke us up in the early morning. We went downstairs to the basement to find a wet floor in the utility room and the water leak alarm doing its thing. I shut off the hot water and went back to bed till daybreak. We were really in need of service that day. Kastner's sent a truck out later that morning (couple of hours). The service man was friendly, courteous and professional. The only time he wasn't busy was when he had to wait for a specialized part that wasn't on the truck, and expansion tank. The plumber showed that part that was being replaced had a copper fitting that was badly corroded. The replacement tank had a stainless steel fitting that should last many more years. It has been a month now without any need for followups. Problem resolved.
Description of Work: There was a small pinhole leak in the hot water supply line.

+ -1 moreI called Kastner from my home in Texas after my house in Maryland flooded due to Tropical Storm Lee - the flood ruined my sump pump and backup - my call was answered by the owner of the company and she routed a plumber to my home very promptly; the plumber replaced the pump and ordered an electric backup which he mounted more securely than the existing one - service was excellent especially considering the conditions of the flood and demand for plumbers and the price was competitive with what I had spent for the ruined pumps a couple of years ago - I was very satisfied both with the politeness of the owner and the plumber and with the quality and timeliness of the work

Description of Work: We've used Kastner's twice in the past 30 days and would use them every time! The first visit was to help disconnecting the gas line from our stove when we were having hardwood floors installed in the kitchen. We tried to do it ourselves but didn't have the proper tools. When the gentleman from Kastner's arrived he disconnected it in a jiffy and went on to help me remove the dishwasher panel and discuss how the floors should be installed to allow the dishwasher to be removed in the future. Great service! The 2nd instance was due to our garbage disposal stopping. The gentleman not only fixed it but gave us hints how to correct the problem ourselves if we had it happen again. Thank you!!

Description of Work: The kitchen sink and toilet on one side of the house backed up, so Kastner did troubleshooting to determine the issue. They were very thorough and eventually discovered that there was an issue with the septic. They patched up the pipes and were very professional and friendly.

+ -1 moreI called on Mon the 8th and had an appt for today the 11th.I was told that he would be at the house between 9-9:30 and Mr Kastner actually arrived early. He went right to work.It was necessary for him to go to the supply store to get a part but even having to do that he was finished in 1/2 hr! He showed me that part that had to be replaced and explained why it needed to be replaced. And he was not afraid of my BIG dog!!! It was a great experience and I plan on using his company for all my future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Fixed the tub that had a drip from the faucet that could not be turned off no matter how hard you would turn the spigot!

He gives very worthwhile and honest advice about preventative maintenance and his rates tend towards the lower end of typical plumbing fees (one time I laughingly accused him of undercharging me!). I have a new, more serious problem with a leaky main in my yard and I will likely be calling on his services again very soon.

+ -1 morei had two clogs in my kitchen sink drain in the last month and both times i used kastner plumbing, they came the same day i called and were very professional and efficient. the clog was about 12' down the drain, they snaked as far back as 30' to be sure there wasn't a blockage further down that needed attention.

From the start, I was impressed by them having someone to answer their telephone as so many repair people don't do that - leaving the potential customer to have to wait for a call-back at an unknown time (if ever) and then wait further to find out when a repair call can be scheduled. I would highly recommend Kastner Plumbing.
Description of Work: Yesterday, I phoned Kastner Plumbing. The phone was answered promptly and an appointment was scheduled at my house for first thing this morning. They had to locate the source of a leak that was causing a wet spot on the ceiling of our utility room. The plumber accessed our attic area and located a small, but continuous leak coming from a small corroded hole in a piece of copper pipe running above the area. He removed the section of pipe causing the problem, replaced it with another piece of copper piping, welded the connections and left the areas he had accessed/worked in clean and tidy. The location of the leak (which was not an easy task), replacement of the bad piece of pipe, etc. took about 2 hours and so I thought his repair cost was quite reasonable. I would most definitely use this company again. They are responsive to the customer's needs and do a good job and they don't make any mess.

They were very neat and cleaned up afterward. They were very courteous. They came on time and were excellent.

Can't get them on a weekend. Did not have to replace 27 year old spigots - just redo the insides. Honest and hardworking.
Description of Work: Replaced stems in 2 sets of bathtub spigots; checked speed of fill up of one toilet. Put new chain on another toilet. Checked small sink for a leak. Mr. Kastner drove to supply store to get the replacement stems at no extra charge to customer.
