Wonderful! Timely, experienced and overall great service that is not often found in the world of contractors.
Description of Work: The service was wonderful. Luis, was prompt and ready to explain everything to me prior to starting the job. He mounted our 50 inch television, he also mounted two more tvs in other rooms. He replaced our toilet on the main level, he removed wall paper from our kids bathroom and repainted the entire room. I was so please with the outcome! He made some great recommendations and since then I continue to use Vasquez & Son whenever I need some work completed around my home.

I would never use an unlicensed provider.
Description of Work: We specifically joined Angie's List to avoid UNLICENSED CONTRACTORS and scams and what do I find here right at the top of the list? THIS COMPANY HAS A FICTITIOUS HOME IMPROVEMENT LICENCE listed on their profile. As indicated by Angie's List, it says to make sure you verify that everything is up to date. I had contacted this company and informed them that I needed to verify that they were licensed and a very rude and pushy guy named Rigaberto answered. I asked him to provide his Licence Number and he says "Don't worry about that LADY, we got it all. Send me a text with your address." I explained to him that my association required a license and that I needed it and again he said "Just give me your address and don't worry, we got it." My gut feeling told me to check them out before having them come out so I went to the Maryland Home Improvement Commission licence search as well as Washington DC DCRA website and this company did not exist on either website. My family and I have both complained to Angie's List, but I see that they have not been removed.

Closet people don't knock out walls so I needed a handyman to raise the doorway to my closet by 1', re-frame the door, and then install custom doors. When Luis came to meet me for the estimate he was on time and arrive exactly when he said he would. He completely understood what I wanted done and gave me options and suggestions on how to trim some costs. This was my first time having any work done on my home ever. I had just bought my apartment 4 months earlier (so my funds were low) and since it was my first home I was very nervous I would make a mistake. Again, Luis was great, very kind and put me at ease. In fact, he ended up do some additional projects beyond the closet which was also a huge relief and knocked a bunch of stuff off of my to-do list. Luis saved me money by finding used doors instead of just ordering custom doors. He literally text me pictures of different doors from the supplier so I could pick out what I wanted. He and his people were punctual every time and totally respected my schedule and time. Finishing the door frame required an extra visit extending the timeline slightly...partially my fault for having trouble picking out a door but, even with that teeny tiny delay, Luis finished the project way before anyone else I talked to said they could. I was very happy would recommend him and will be using him for additional projects in the future. I am VERY VERY happy and glad I used Luis.
Description of Work: I had a closet doorway expanded by 1', re-framed, and custom doors installed. They did additional drywall repair, moving my thermostat over 4' so that it wasn't in the middle of a wall and patching a small hole I made in my kitchen. They also opened three windows that had been painted shut accidentally, fixed the door to my deck so it closed properly, and patched two enamel spots on my bathtub.

I got their name from Angie's List and they did a very good job. Their price was $75 per hour and there were two men. I did not dislike anything; I thought they were very nice and efficient. I think their price was reasonable. They did not speak much and I think they had trouble with the English language but I had no problems communicating.
Description of Work: I used Vazquez & Son Services to replace a window as well as sand and paint three urns. They also painted two chairs and two wrought iron tables and replaced some light bulbs.

Very pleased with the work. Luis and a co-worker of his arrived on time, kept noise to a minimum, were courteous. The quality of the job was great - replaced a drywall sheet, painted a bedroom, fixed a ledge in a bathroom window, fixed/replaced a couple of lights switches, and replaced the garbage disposal. I think the cost of labor and materials was reasonable - upper range of reasonable. But I'm a cheapskate :) Very pleased with the work.
We contracted with Vazquez and Son to paint an apartment unit and complete a list of repairs and other items after a tenant move-out. We have to agree with other Angie’s List reviewers that their costs seemed a bit high particularly when we realized the quote was for labor only. However, because of the positive Angie’s List comments and because they were able to begin within a few days, we proceeded. We did receive an Angie’s List discount. Luis and his crew were very friendly, responsive, punctual, polite, and they completed the work ahead of schedule. Overall, we were satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: Complete painting of 2 bedroom apartment unit, replace utility closet doors and install quarter rounds, seal all gaps and cracks; install thresholds at front door and weatherstripping.

This is actually the second of two reviews because we subsequently contracted with Vazquez and Son to carpet a rental unit after they satisfactorily completed other work needed after a tenant move-out. Unfortunately, the job was so bad, even after a return visit to fix problems, that we had to hire another contractor to redo the job which included replacing the padding. This review was not easy because we really like these guys but our loyalty has to be to Angie’s List users. We would not recommend them for a carpet installation project—not even for a rental.
Description of Work: Carpet a 2 bedroom apartment.
They came and did the work in the time they said they would. They are very polite and cleaned up after themselves very well. The work was good. They bought most of the materials themselves as well.
Description of Work: They built several custom screens for the windows, did some dry wall repair and painting and replaced some tile in the bathroom with cement board and paitnted that. They also installed some heat detectors and a handrail outside going down to the basement and repaired a window where the rope was broken on the inside.

I have a middle of group row house rental property in the city of Baltimore. In October the Baltimore housing office inspector failed the inspection for two reasons: 1. Needed an exhaust fan installed in the bathroom of the master bedroom. 2. Said the folding doors of two closets were coming off track when the doors were opened and closed. After the exhaust fan was installed I needed ceiling drwayll repair in the bathroom and whatever needed to be done to the two folding closet doors so they would not come off track when being opened and closed. I do not live in Baltimore so I was looking for a contractor that would do whatever including parts and labor that was needed to resolve both issues before the housing office conducted the follow up inspection. The first contractor wanted me to have someone pick up the products that were needed and said both folding doors needed to be replaced and wanted me to buy them and even asked the tenant if she could go to the store to pick up the doors. I told the contractor that I could not use his services. Before I contacted the first contractor I had thought about contacting Valazquez and Son. So I contacted them to replace the initial contractor. Mr. Vazquez went to the property and according to the tenant was very courteous and congenial. He fixed the ceiling dry wall in the bathroom and provided all the items needed to complet the work. He also cut off an inch or so on the bottom of both folding doors and used itmes to secure them so they would not go off track. I did not have to buy new doors. This was all completed in a couple of hours. The total charge was $250. The next day the Baltimore housing office conducted the 2nd inspection and everything passed thanks to Mr. Valazquez so I continue to get my rent check. For any new actions I need I will make Mr. Valazquez my first call.
Description of Work: Ceiling drywall repair and two closet folding doors repair. Mr. Vazquez made the repairs needed.
He was fabulous. He was prompt, listened to our needs, answered questions--by text message and phone call--and came to our home everyday until the work was done. He cleaned up after each day and was sensitive to our young children's schedules. He provided receipts for all materials and his prices were incredibly competitive. We were very satisfied with the quality of the work. Our old home has quirks, and when he came to give the estimate, our basement was filled with junk. Nothing fazed Luis and his final price matched his initial estimate very closely. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Luis finished our very rough basement by tearing down old siding, framing all the walls including boxing in our hot water heater, framing and finishing the ceiling, hanging drywall throughout, widening our back door frame and adding doors, boxing in the washer/dryer and sump pump. He resurfaced the cement floors and painted them, installed a new handrail on the stairs, tore up carpet and stained and painted everything to our specifications.

They were very responsive and appeared professional. The work they performed was solid with no complaints on that end. The big dissapointment however was payment. Over the phone (no in person estimate due to simple nature of work), cost estimate was $75/hr. Upon clarification, he said that cost was $75/hr plus parts. Fair enough. He and his partner showed up promptly and got straight to work doing a fine job on all assigned task. However, upon payment, invoice said $75 PER PERSON PER HOUR=$150/hr. This left a terrible taste in my mouth and I honestly felt duped. I would recommend that if you choose them, and the quality of the work will be fine, to verify over phone and before commencement of labor, to VERIFY COST.

The work was originally scheduled for Friday; however, Mr. Vazquez texted me early that morning to let me know that he would not be arriving at 8:00 as scheduled due to the rain. He said he could come later that day or Monday or Tuesday of the next week. I return texted that later Friday or Monday would work for me. When he didn't show up on Friday, I assumed he'd come on Monday but I wasn't 100% sure. Of course, I could have followed up myself. However, no worries. Rigo showed up early Monday and got right to work. I am very pleased with his skills, work ethic, and sharp eye to go above and beyond. He started inside on the kitchen ceiling but moved back and forth between the inside work and outside work. Letting the ceiling applications dry, while he worked outside. Efficient! Rigo also noticed my (ahem) less than professional spackling work in the kitchen over some screws and chips in the wall. He went ahead and fixed those up too. So much nicer! Rigo also pointed out that the garage wood had rotted because no flashing had been installed at the top. He ASKED if I wanted him to add that and asked if I wanted wood or that wood-alike that doesn't rot. Seems like small potatoes but I've certainly had others who did work and did not give me any info or options. Much appreciated. After he'd completed the outside work, Rigo borrowed a broom to sweep up. The kitchen was also quite clean. Obviously, I still need to do a good sweep, but it is much cleaner than I'd anticipated. All in all, a job well done. Add in the Angie's List discount and I even give them an A on pricing. This is the 4th or 5th company I contacted to fix the garage trim and the first who showed up. I thought I was jinxed. I've begun my list for spring - interior cracks in the stairwell and the trim around the basement windows. I will be hiring Vazquez and Son again.
Description of Work: Scraped ceiling and some other areas of the wall in the kitchen, applied plaster and primer. Removed all damage wood from around the garage door, installed new framing and flashing, caulked and primed the new wood.

Overall the work went very well. They showed up on time which was a huge plus. Also I scheduled the visit just under 48 hours in advance which was also impressive. They worked for 4 hours straight and were able to locate the source of the leak from our upstairs bathroom. They showed us that just a valve needed to be tightened so there was no charge for the repair. The only surprise was we thought their hourly rate is $75/hour but to clarify is $75/hour per person. Besides that everything went well and I will be recommending to my clients.

These guys were great. I called and left a message on their phone. They immediately called me back and came out the same day of the call. I originally called for an estimate on replacing a very small piece of siding that had come loose because of a storm. They came out and gave me an estimate. Since I was already home, they offered to complete the service right then. I also had a hammock chair that I had been trying to get up for some time. When they ran into a snag due to a need for more materials for the hammock they offered to check Lowes themselves for the missing piece. They got the piece from Lowels and then came back to finish the job. They allowed me to try to hammock chair at different heights to make sure that I was satisfied with it. I am very satisfied with their work. They completed both projects for $150. I would definitely contact them again.

Mr. Masquera arrived on time for the estimate and gave me 10% Angie's List Discount. He brought his worker on time for the job and and was very receptive on how I wanted the job to go with my input. When the job was complete, the worker went over it with me and ask if I was satisfied. Job well Done!!!!!!
Description of Work: Repair Drywall hole in ceiling after a plumbing repair. Textured sealing to my satisfaction.
Louis and his team had my new home move in ready for us and everything was perfect. I could not be a happier customer. They are on time, pleasant to deal with and do the work efficiatantly. I was very pleased from start to finish with all of my projects. Louis came and gave us an estimate during our home inspection and then they were able to get all of the painting done prior to our moving in. This was a very tight schedule and the did a great job being flexible an accomidating. We were very pleased with everything. I have used them before at my other property and do not have enough positive things to say. They are always responsive and professsional and I've always had great results.
Description of Work: Louis and his team painted my entire house, installed 2 ceiling fans, installed an electric make up mirror, installed pull out shelving in my entire kitchen, hung a pot rack with lights and power washed two decks.
I highly recommend Luis and his team for painting and handy man work. After I requested quotes from several companies, Luis was the first person to respond and we met that evening. Him and his team began work on the agreed upon date and completed each task within a reasonable time frame. I purchased the materials based on their recommendations and the interior paint job, along with electrical and wood work came out great. The labor rate seemed a little high but overall, I was pleased with the work and their professionalism. Again, I would hire Luis and his team for future work and I personally recommend them if you are need of painting and handyman services. r/s Robert
