Arrived the first time to install and 5 of the windows were the wrong size. No windows were installed at that time. They re-ordered and re-scheduled. Arrived the second time to install and 5 of the screens were the wrong size and 2 of the screens were damaged. It took more than a month and several phone calls from me for them to replace the screens with the correct ones. No one from sales or customer service ever called to say sorry or we're working on it - nothing. Bathroom window was difficult to remove. They had to remove tiles on the inside window sill and broke several of them. They did not have grout to re-install the tiles and stuck them all in with caulk which is now all over the tiles which are now broken and crooked and look terrible. The bathroom tiles were completely re-done just 2 years ago. The latest is that is does not appear the bathroom window was caulked on the exterior. allowing rain, etc. to seep in around window. A call to customer service resulted in the person not being in on the day I called and when I tried to explain the urgency the woman hung up on me. HOWEVER, I do love the widows themselves. They are beautiful, prevent a lot of the street noise, and they are easy to clean.

We signed a contract with See Thru Windows / Bath Planet of Waldorf, MD. in September 2014 and 9 months later we are still trying to get the work completed, the initial contract was to replace the tub with a "soaker" tub, relocate the shower so that it would be next to the tub (based upon the design of the bathroom at Walt Disney's Tree House Villa Master Bath), build a linen closet where the shower used to be, remove the existing door and install a pocket door. However, after the company owner came out to measure we were informed that the design would have to change because despite that the products are advertised as custom designed products, we were in fact limited to the product line that Bath Planet produces. After several discussions about the design of the tub we were informed that they could deliver us a tub without the overflow drain, since the shower was going to be right next to it, which would give us the depth we were looking for. Addendums were added to the contract to address that the design was having to change as a result, to include adding the sliding shower wand, relocating the toilet, and moving the window. Once the work began there were other issues, which started with SeeThru pulling up the tile floor which was not part of the contract and then they wanted $2300 to install a new floor. We ended up hiring a separate contractor to fix the floor for $1400.00. See Thru uses products and materials supplied by Bath Planet and it is my opinion that these materials are of poor quality, the material used for the walls is thin and flimsy. The bathroom walls deflect when you push on them. Bath Planet shower caddies were installed and they feel like they will break easily. The shower floor pan creaks and pops while taking a shower. I do not know if it is due to a lack of support under the shower pan or poor quality of the Bath Planet shower pan. We were also unable to use the new shower for four months because the new plumbing leaked water into our basement. The tub was delivered without the overflow drain however, it has the molded impression of where it should be and is ridiculous looking. The quality of caulking workmanship was poor and See Thru used two different colors of caulk on the shower and tub. Caulking is still incomplete with gaps in locations throughout the shower and tub. Then we ended up having to relocate the vanity and move the linen closet because the wall for the shower/tub area was bumped out and left only 17 inches of walkspace. It was during this time that we noticed that the bathroom lights would flicker while walking across the floor and we discovered that during the renovation See Thru cut through an electrical wire and attempted to repair it with electrical tape, which was hidden in the ceiling. This created a safety hazard due to the intermittent connection. We ended up replacing the cut wire. The remaining drywall work had to be redone by a subcontractor provided by See Thru. As stated previously, our design was to locate the tub and shower next to each other with separate bath fixtures, sample photos were provided, however once onsite they were only installing fixtures in the tub. Who in their right mind would install a shower without fixtures...the owner became verbally abusive and hung up on us, although he did eventually install the fixtures in the shower but he has also refused to install the teak wood seat in the shower that was also included in the contract. Another one of the key elements of this design was the incorporation of the pocket door, it wasn't until they showed up to begin work that they stated that it could not be done. We requested to cancel the contract but were informed that we would have to pay the $6K cancellation fee, even though they were not meeting the contract agreement. So again, we had to hire another contractor to install the pocket door, which cost us $1700.00. As of today, we have requested they fix the following items: 1) fix the siding to the house where the window was moved because it looks like a jigsaw puzzle 2) finish building the closet with doors 3) fix or replace the shower pan that creaks and pops 4) install the baseboards 5) address the issue with the walls. I did not have a favorable experience with See Thru Windows/Bath Planet and for $20, 899.00 I cannot recommend their services. A video of current issues is available at Youtube titled "incomplete bathroom by Bath Planet in Waldorf MD" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLBDsumuYVI

They don’t use their own people, they subcontract out their projects. My experience was you could hardly speak to the contractors with your views/wishes because they didn't speak English well. The work was okay, I just had to call back a few times to unclog my gutters and they weren't as quick to respond as I'd like, but they were okay.

It took from October 30, to December 13 to get the work done. There was never a call to schedule installation. All calls were initiated by me. The work was not done as contracted noted above. All calls to Mr, Clarke has not been answered to date so the issue could be resolved SEE Thru Windows was selected from vendors at the Home Show in Upper Marlboro.
Description of Work: The contract written on 10/30/2013 was for attic insulation; part of the attic was to be covered by radiant barrier and the side over the bedroom cathedral ceiling was to have blown in insulation due small access space. After many phone calls a crew was finally sent in December. This crew was only prepared to put in the radiant barrier. They called their office and came back into the attic but put in radiant barrier and not the blown-in insulation. After finally insisting that I speak with the office. I spoke with Julie who in turn had the salesman,Ted Clarke to call me. He promised to call the next work day (Monday) with the amount of the credit. The work order I signed specified that I expected a credit as promised. After many calls to the office and to Mr. Clarke I have not had any response from SEE Thru Windows. The balance applied to my account is the full amount with no credit applied

The General Manager showed up at the time we agreed on to give us a price quote for siding our house. I invited him into my home and showed him to the dining room table. The provider asked to wait for my wife to join us and I told him that she'd be around but was unable to commit to hearing the details of the siding as I was because our small children were running around. He reluctantly began his pitch, then about 10 minutes into it he asked if I would be able to relay the information to my wife. When I responded that I would be able to he actually said that I lied to him and my wife was supposed to be as engaged in the process as I was. I responded that I was capable of making these decisions. At this time he became very aggressive and belligerent while sitting at my dining room table with my children and parents in the vicinity. I suggested that perhaps this was not going to work out and he snidely asked if he should come back when we could hire a babysitter. I was somewhat incredulous about his attitude as he continued, calling me a liar a couple more times. At this point I had stood up and asked him to leave. He maintained his aggressive posture, claiming that he drove 2 hours to provide this "service," until my father also felt it necessary to ask him to leave. When all was said it made for an extremely uncomfortable Saturday morning for us, especially my wife.

I was contacted by phone about purchasing windows and doors in early spring. This call interested me as it was the first situation I had to begin purchasing a number of home improvement articles and services that I suddenly needed. I appreciated the opportunity to have a salesman come and provide an estimate on a Saturday. The salesman was polite, competent, and gave a convincing pitch about the high quality engineering and materials available for two doors that had special offers attached to them. I warned the salesman that this was the first estimate I was taking. Nevertheless, according to script, he gave me the option of a further discount for purchasing that day, with a 3 day grace period to opt out. I signed the contract, thinking I had saved myself a reasonable amount of time to get the first issue out of the way. I spoke with a relative the next day who challenged me to keep looking based on his recent market research. I also spoke with a friend who confirmed my initial instincts. I considered my late husband's instincts and decided to search further, before joining Angie's List. I found a medium quality door with more

When I called See Thru Doors, they said they sell all kinds of doors, including mid-range doors. Initial appointment on September 21 was a no-show. I called and they had no record of the appointment. They rescheduled for September 26th. On arrival, they said they only sold the high-end doors - $3,000-4,000. Salesman said that happens all the time - on the phone, the company says they have what the customer needs, but in reality, they only sell high-end stuff. I told him I didn't want the high end door, but a mid-range one. He complained that he drove for three hours to come to the appointment. The manager called, wanting to make an appointment, saying he would make it worthwhile. We set up an appointment for October 5th. On the 4th, the company cancelled saying they could not sell me the door I wanted. I thought that was the end of it. It wasn't. Months later, I was hounded (a good half-dozen calls over several months) to give them another chance - the owner was going to come out. Each time I said no, and yet they kept calling back. Six months later and they won't leave me alone even when I tell them not to call back. And each time I say no, they abruptly hang up - not even a good-bye. Don't use them. Don't give them your telephone number. You will regret it!!! BTW, this company uses "heavy pressure sales tactics" (to be fair, two other leading door companies were the same way). When they come out, they are overly aggressive at pushing for a commitment. They (as other companies did) offer a discount that is a "one time" offer and if a person doesn't accept it then, they can never get that offer again. I despise those tactics. If a company is good enough, they should be able to offer the best price at any time, not just at the initial sales meet.

The front door went in well and has retained its beauty and functionality over more than 15 years. While installing the French doors they found that termites had ruined the wood framing, but they expertly repaired it (at reasonable extra cost, of course). The seal on one French door leaked and let in moisture more than a year after installation. It was still under warranty. See-Thru ordered and installed replacement glass units for BOTH doors at no cost. The mud room door did not quite catch the stop easily to stay closed. They came out and adjusted the jam to ensure a perfect fit. I am very impressed with their commitment to continuing customer satisfaction. They follow up any complaint or comment without hesitation. Their workmen, especially Alfred, are very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Bought an entry door with side lights for the front of my home with a life time warranty, appx 2 years after I bought the door the steel panel on the front of the door came loose and they did replace the door. We have had the door 13 years now, and then last summer the side light window broke. I called SEE THRU WINDOWS and they sent out the salesman that sold us the door he looked and then made a few note and left, he called a few days later and told me that Mr Charlie Brown the owner owner of the company was not going to honor the life time warranty on the door and told me that I got all the warranty that I ws going to get. About a week later I went to the Anne Arundel County court house to the self help desk where they have ladies help you with the paper work to sue someone in court, it took me about a year to complete the process with the discussions back and forth with SEE THRU WINDOWS but I did finally receive a check from Mr Charlie Brown at SEE THRU WINDOWS which cover my loss as far as the warranty goes.

Sale was pending approval by the HOA for a deviation to policy. The salesman put my deposit through anyway as I learned when I called to inform them the HOA did not approve. The company refused to refund the deposit and sent one of their high pressure salesman to badger me to proceed with the contract. He claimed to be from the "legal department" but when pressed admitted he was not an attorney. Eventually, i agreed to move ahead with the purchase of a limited number of windows so I could be finished with them. The installer did a good job. The quality of the windows is fair to good but I would not work with this company again.

Prompt initial response with assurances of satisfaction. Encouraged to assist in selecting color for door and surround. Once installed we found that the color match was significantly off, depending on the light. This was brought to the company's attention. They stated that was why we were asked to choose the color. I questioned why they didn't have matching colors. After persistent phone calls which were not returned, Rick finally answered my call. His attitude was somewhat unpleasant. Did acknowledge that the match was off but was resistant to owning responsibility. Eventually agreed to make change...at an additional cost of several hundred dollars. Never followed up with us and we eventually decided it was better to cut our losses and live with it.

Overall I am very satisfied. The salesman was very willing to work with me and worked to get the best price for the best product even though I was nearly sold on another company. They worked with me to get the windows I wanted and a good financing deal that helped me make my decision.
Description of Work: See-Thru Windows of Maryland (not to be confused with other See-Thru windows locations) installed 8 windows and 1 sliding glass door. The quality and look of the windows is excellent. I have noticed a difference in the sound from outside and it has reduced my heating and cooling bills quite a bit. The price was comparable although slightly higher than another retailer I was looking at, but overall I liked the See-Thru Windows product and features a little more so the difference was worth it. I still received a good discount and I also received a lifetime warranty on everything including glass breakage, screen damage and hardware replacement. The service was very professional. Installers showed up on time and did a very clean job. I noticed after installation that one of the sashes had been scratched during shipping. I called them about it and they immediately ordered another sash and will be repalcing it promptly. I would use this company again and plan to have 2 additional windows replaced in the spring.

They did a good job. They engaged in a pretty hard sales thing which annoyed me somewhat. I have been getting phone calls even recently, which I don't particularly care for. They did a good job on what I hired them to do. It was a high pressure sale where if I called anyone else, the price would not be good. I won't use them again because I don't want to engage in that. I don't know about their price because he wouldn't let me ask anybody else. They came when they were supposed to and I never had to call them back for anything.

See-Thru Windows was one of the companies that we asked for estimates for a replacement sliding glass door. The salesman spent over 2 hours in the visit and delivered a classic high pressure sales pitch including calling the owner of the company to see if they could work out a better deal and a today-only price. The product seemed to be high quality, but the price point was well above all other estimates we received. After comparing offers and BBB ratings, we decided to use a different company.

Overall it went well. We had some communication issues at first, but these were sorted out (salesman not showing for appt time, wrong mailslot installed). The company was very responsive to our concerns. They also were receptive to negotiating a different price point when presented with a competitor's estimate. We shopped around some and this company had the greatest variety of accessory options available to us in our door size. We have a non-standard door size which limited to us a steel door. This further limited our options when picking from hardware colors, inset window options, and accessories with other companies. See-Thru had exactly what we wanted which also matched our HOA requirements perfectly. They also presented as the most knowledgable when discussing installation process and options to raising our threshold. Becasue of this we chose them over the company that replaced our windows! Given that a door or window is only as good as the installation, this was very important to us. They weren't the cheapest, but I feel confident on the installation and product. I love our new door and can feel a HUGE difference in comfort right away. There is no breeze through our living room any more from our old drafty door and I can tell the air conditioner/heater isn't working as much since installation. I am quite satisfied. People comment all the time on the beauty of the new door.

Asked for quotation over email. Got call and follow-up call. Appt. set and a marketing manager came over. He was nice, explained all range of windows & door product available. Even brought a heat lamp to simulate sun heat passing thru window. It was really impressive. There was a lot of bargains and ultimately he accepted the price I said. I did little-bit research before and so knew the good rate for a window. A supervisor came to take measurement, lasted about 10 minutes for four windows. Later they scheduled installation. Came on time , did everything professionally and clean up and all done in two hours. The marketing person did came later on for follow-up visit and took our feedback. Earlier the room was very drafty and cold in winter season. After the installation I can feel the change in temperature particularly at night. I'm sure it must have saved a lot of energy bill as well. Overall the experience was excellent !! Recommend 100%.

We had a very high pressure salesperson in our home for several hours. We did not plan to sign any paperwork on the spot until we had other estimates. The salesperson became very condescending and borderline hostile when we stated we wanted more time to think about this decision. He even tried to use his long drive to our house as justification why we should buy his windows. This company will not receive my business because of the attitude of it's sales representative.

I believe most door and windows companies are like an cars salesmen. The pricing is very arbitrary and padded. There is bo itemized breakdown on cost of door, install charges etc. They just come up with a number. The initial quote for a standard size vinyl sliding patio door replacement started at $8000 and with various coupons and if you sign the contract today we will give you this special price of $4700. After doing more shopping got a very good door installed for $3000.

My husband and I scheduled an estimate after a gentleman from See-Thru Windows and Doors knocked on our door one evening. We were only entertaining the thought of replacing our exterior French doors but realized that this would likely be the last year for an energy-savings tax credit. The salesman arrived at the scheduled time and explained their products and provided an estimate. The estimate was bit more than I wanted to spend but we proceeded to purchase the doors because we were motivated and wanted to qualify for the tax credit. We scheduled an official measurement for three days later at 6:30am, a time that worked with everyone's schedules, including Craig, See-Thru Window's installer. We received a phone call 2 weeks later saying the doors had arrived. We confirmed an installation date for Columbus Day (my husband and I were surprised the installers were working on a holiday) with arrival between 7:30-8:30am. The 2 gentleman arrived at 8:00am and began working immediately. They listened and complied with a few reasonable requests that we had. For example, we requested that they leave off casing so that we could make repairs to surrounding drywall. The installers cut the casing to size and left us with the pieces so that we may install them when we repair drywall. They completed the job, including thorough cleanup, in about 2 hours. I anticipated installation would take a half day. My husband and I are so pleased with the results and think we will immediately begin seeing savings in our heating bill. I don't regret this investment in the least, nor do I regret choosing See-Thru Windows and Doors.

I had them out before Angie's List was in our area and then later I saw they had an "F" review. I read the reviews on Angie's List and they were not good. The company who manufacturered the windows with the lifetime guarantee went out of business. They seem to be okay, but obviously things changed after 2005. There was a review that showed a customer had a dispute with them, I didn't have any major problems however that was 5 years ago. I thought the price was good for what they did. Based on what I read on Angie's List I probably would not use them again.
Description of Work: See Thru Windows did all my windows.
