When the contractor did their original work in Feb. 2009, they gave me a 3 year warranty. I had several small problems in 2009 and 2010 that they fixed for free. In Dec. 2009, they fixed a larger problem when several pieces of the siding they'd replaced flew off/loose. On Jan. 26, 2011, I notified them that one of the pieces became sightly loose. At first they ignored my messages, then they changed their main phone number, then I dialed one of their secondary numbers from a number they wouldn't recognize and pointed out that I was not missing 2 pieces of siding and I needed them to fix the siding before the next weekend (in 4 days). They promised to fix the siding on that weekend. They didn't show-up but 60 mph winds did and I lost 3 rows of siding across the width of my house. I reached them again and they said they'd be over the next day to tarp my house and then fix it ASAP. Neither took place but they did call to say they'd be over the next day at 9 a.m. They didn't show and have since had their phones go straight to voicemail. During our last windstorm over this past Friday, not only did another row of siding blow off but another is now flapping in the wind. Also 2 pieces of foam sheathing have broken and there is a large hole going directly into my attic. I will be paying another contractor to fix this problem on Monday or Tuesday (as I write this on Sunday) but we're expecting a possibly violent thunderstorm tomorrow which means inside water damage to my 2nd floor bedrooms. The damage to my house is now 32 days old, having started with just one loose corner of a piece of siding; however, my new contractor has told me that the main issue was that the handymen did not know how to install siding and hammered it to the sheathing rather than to the house's wood frame. I paid the original handyman over $4000 for his lousy work. I am paying my new contractor about one-fourth of that to fix it. If I can find the original handymen, I will be suing them, needless to say.
Description of Work: This handyman cannot be trusted. He doesn't know how to do the work that he does. He cannot be taken at his word. He says what he thinks you want to hear. And he way, way overcharges. He is very smooth and you want to like him but you can't trust him. He works with his son Daniel who does all the talking. They will do anything you ask: install siding, plumbing, fix drywall, etc. They do it all equally bad and don't care what condition they leave your house in.

The first job in Feb. 2009 was suppose to take an entire day with 4 men - hence the $3500 charge. Plus it was suppose to be very dangerous and very difficult. I surprised the handymen by teleworking that day. They finished the job in about 45 minutes. They bought way too many supplies. They left me with 6 pieces of siding and took took some of the supplies that I paid for with them. They did give me a 3 year warranty and did "fix" the siding in March 2009 although it still look puffed out. When they built the door cover for me in March 2009, they used cheap pieces of junk wood rather than nice pieces of wood. It was chipped and looked terrible. I had to tell them that they had to cover some of the surfaces before I'd pay them for the job. Neither in Feb. or Mar. 2009 did they give detailed estimates for their work. When they worked for me in Feb. 2010, they again did not give me a written estimate of exactly what work they would do. They did get sanding dust all over my house and belongings as well as white paint all over my black door and frame. They never installed (or bought?) any flashing -- instead they just caulked my attic, they did not sand my interior walls flat so the storm water damage can still be plainly seen, they repainted all the repaired walls with the bright glossy white exterior paint they used outside rather than buying flat eggshell paint to match the interior walls. On top of all that, without my permission, they drove over my lawn putting tire prints in it; they used my containers and materials to do their work (including my yoga mat as a drop cloth) without asking me. They went through my belongings to find things they could use in their work without asking me if I cared. I offered them Mountain Dew or Propel during the first and only day they were suppose to be here. In the first 2 days, they (4 men) drank maybe 4 to 6 bottles total. By the 3rd day, I realized that the attic had never been flooded - it had about 6 to 12 square inches along the roof line that was barely damp. I also realized that they had incompletely installed a drape rod and I was upset with them. They'd also helped themselves to my bottled water which I had not offered to them -- and they hid that they taken any, covering the empty spot where the bottle they took had been. They also had also packed-up leftover supplies that I'd paid for in their truck and I wanted them unloaded. (E.g., they need about 1 pint of spackle but they bought a gallon and planned to take the leftover with them.) They refused to redo work that I felt was poorly done but demanded payment in full saying what they did was perfect. They unloaded most of the supplies that I had paid for but after they left I found that one of them had taken almost a case of Mount Due and Propel!! How petty! I will say that the handymen did give me warrantees (for various lenghts of time) on the siding, rebuilt door cover, and garbage disposal that they installed.
Description of Work: In Feb. 2009, they gave me a estimate for reinstalling house siding that blew off during a storm. I was told that since termites were the actual cause, I'd be charged a few extra dollars for the timbers that needed to be replaced. The final cost more than doubled to around $3500. The next month I foolishly asked them to build a cover over the walk-out door from my garage to my side yard. It ran around $1000 and was guaranteed to hold up no matter the weather or the amount of snow. When that cover fell down with about 8" of snow on it this Feb. (long before the snow quit falling), I hired them to reinstall it for approximately another $1000. During the course of their work, they went into my attic and said that the builder did not put the proper flashing where my second story connects to my garage and my attic ceilings had pools of water and were about to collapse. I paid them $1200 plus approximately an extra $250 for additional work to add the flashing and caulking as well as fix 3 water spots on interior walls and one damaged wall from a loose nail that pulled out from the wallboard.
