Gary's Hardwood Floors

As I mentioned above, this company did not perform the job. I am leaving a review for the very rude encounter I experienced though. I left a message to this company through Angie's List. I then follow up with a phone call. No one picked up so I left a message. Few minutes later, the person called back. First sentence, Yes, what do you need? You left me a message. I was on the other line that I asked if he could hold for a second. He then responded Maybe. I continued the conversation - left the other person on the other line hanging - and proceeded telling him what I wanted. He responded, I don't do repair and just hung up. This encounter is very different from the reviews I have read, which led me to contact the provider in the first place. It is for sure, I will not be contacting this provider again. I am not expecting for a special treatment, but come on, really?

I had a bad experience with Home Depot when they came to try to install my laminate flooring. They said because the stairs were squeaking and that the floor was not perfectly level, they couldn't install it. I went to Home Depot to purchase everything to level my floors, about 350 dollars ready I was ready to bottle jack my house and level it. I found Gary through another contracting company and they recommended him. I called him, told him my situation and he said wait on leveling the floor. He came over after working all day on another project and told me to return all the stuff I had bought from Home Depot to level the floor. Instead of 350 Dollars, he told me about 60 dollars will make the floor more level. He was on another job so he couldn't start right away. He does have some health issues which delayed him coming for about a week or so. Once he did though, he was ready to work. I had already prepared the flooring for him (removed the carpet, old hardwood, and padding). So all he had to do was put new laminate down. He worked hard and on some days left early. He was very particular when it came to cuts and getting things perfect for the floor. He was able to move a few things that were in his way and then put it right back. He was very careful and caring. He got our living room down before Christmas and we were able to put up the Christmas tree. Its taken about 3 weeks to complete our 1000 sq feet of flooring, but he works by himself and wants it done right. I would recommend him to anyone. He wants to make it right and explains everything unlike Home Depot.

As others have mentioned, Gary charges only for labor. You buy the materials at his contractor rate from his recommended sources. Even though Gary had a few health issues, he was in constant communication and finished up exactly on his revised timeline. We found there was beautiful oak under the carpet on the stairs, so he returned the treads and risers, saving us about $1000. Highly recommend!

Excellent! Gary was hardworking, friendly and professional. He was able to move heavy furniture with ease. In this case a 600lb log bed- see pictures. Impressive!

Outstanding! Gary did a great job for us. He removed our old floors with no damage to the walls or trim. His real talent and experience showed when he started installing the new floors. Between varying different shades of boards, cutting, trimming out and cleaning up he was excellent. Highly recommend Gary to anyone interested in this type of work.

Gary arrived promptly each morning and meticulously installed our red oak flooring. Gary also made the process stress-free by moving furniture and cleaning up at the end of each day. He even padded our furniture in preparation for re-placement. We never dreamed that an improvement project could go so easily. The added bonus is that Gary is wonderfully kind! I have already called family members and friends to sing Gary’s praises.

Gary's Hardwood Floors installed gun-stock oak in my family room and two hallways to match existing flooring. I am elated with my new hardwood floors. Gary has been laying floors for a long time and he's top notch and extremely skilled in his profession. I appreciate the fact that he is a perfectionist and listens to what the customer wants. He showed up on time each day and always cleaned up behind himself and hauled everything away. My cat got in his way a few times, and Gary was very nice to him and even took a little time to play with him. He does work solo, however, he has mastered moving furniture and what works best for him with removing the old flooring. Gary was left alone in my home each day and he is very trust worthy. I did get three estimates and Gary's price was extremely reasonable. I am SO glad I chose Gary's Hardwood Floor Service to do my job as I couldn't be happier with the results. If you're looking to have hardwood or laminate flooring, choose Gary and you won't be disappointed.

After relocating and rehabbing houses 5 times, I can honestly say Gary is the most professional and talented tradesman I have ever worked with. His install was gorgeous, on-time, and fuss-free. I’d hire Gary to install new hardwood flooring again in a heartbeat!

We had a wonderful experience working with Gary. We were apprehensive about replacing all of our flooring on the first floor, but Gary quickly put our minds at ease. He exceeded expectations, doing a fantastic job installing more than 1,300 square feet of hardwoods. He also did our stairs, putting in new treads and risers. What a transformation! Gary offered us the best prices as well. He was a joy to have in our home and quickly became our friend. Our home looks beautiful thanks to Gary. Would highly recommend!

When we bought our current home we realized immediately we wanted to replace the carpeting in 5 of the rooms and the upper hallway to match the hardwood in the remainder of the house. My wife did research and found what she thought was an exact match and I found Gary on Angie's list. His reviews were stellar. Unfortunately the sample my wife had of the flooring did not match. Gary came to meet us and was very personable. He took one look at the flooring and knew exactly what we needed to order and gave us a great price estimate on installation and no pressure. He actually encouraged us to get other quotes.Gary installed our flooring and was able to start the job sooner which was great. He also repaired some of the existing flooring and you can not tell there was ever a problem. Other contractors and neighbors are shocked he was able to match the old flooring. Gary has a great work ethic and was like the energizer bunny in completing the job and staying on task all the while being personable and taking pride in his craftsmanship. We highly recommend Gary and enjoyed getting to know and work with him!

My entire flooring project was complicated and required a keen level of expertise. I absolutely hired the right contractor to do the job. Gary genuinely impressed me at every level. He was exceptional at his workmanship and trade, and was meticulous, precise, and a perfectionist in his work. There is nothing short of perfection in every single room and area that he installed. In addition to his incredible work ethic, he is also a gentleman, trustworthy, and highly respectful. I have a large family which required Gary to work among the chaos of teenage boys, a ton of furniture, and he was not only able to stay on schedule of his promised timeline, but was warm and receptive to my family. After the second day, my family referred to him as Uncle Gary. I would highly recommend Gary for his installation expertise and exceptional friendly and professional demeanor. Job well done! Gary was very responsive from Day 1 (he even texts!!). Gary was very helpful with assisting us on purchasing the flooring, even Lumber Liquidators gave us a discount for using Gary. He was on time everyday, great convo, he even played with my puppy. While installing the flooring we ran into some hiccups and Gary knew who to call. His friends came the same day to fix some repairs and Gary went right back to work. I'm extremely satisfied with his work.

Gary of Gary's Hardwood Floors did a wonderful job starting with the initial contact, when he advised me about the type of flooring I might want to consider, through to the actual ordering and installation of about 430 sq. feet of vinyl planking (kitchen and laundry room) and about 800 sq ft of hardwood flooring in the foyer and 3 main level rooms. He removed the old vinyl sheeting and carpeting, took care of numerous squeaks in the floors, found and remedied damp spots by the doors, caulked around the doors, showed me how to care for the new hardwood and vinyl flooring, and did an outstanding job. Most importantly, he worked around a family wedding and our guests, offering to start later or work on quiet projects in the morning, even skipping 2 days around the wedding when we knew the house would be hectic. He was a joy to work with, cleaned up the areas each evening before he left, removed all the old flooring, carpeting, wood, sawdust, etc. and took extra time to fix or improve issues that were discovered along the way. Gary was polite, friendly, respectful, patient, trustworthy, took the time to explain what he was doing, and was always available for questions. He also helped us to save several hundred dollars on the order, which was much appreciated. Gary works alone, so the extra time he spent on our home meant time he could have been earning money on other projects but never once did he complain or skip details to save time. The finished job was beautiful and everyone was impressed with the new floors and Gary's workmanship! He is a true professional and we are planning to ask Gary to do our next renovation project. We were so happy with his work that we invited Gary and his family to the wedding. Our neighbors and friends have already asked for his business card.

Gary did an excellent job and his price was about two-thirds of some of my other estimates. Gary is a one-man operation - which has its advantages and some drawbacks. When you hire Gary, you're hiring a guy with +20 years of experience in flooring installation - and he's the one who actually does the work. When you hire some of these other flooring installation companies, the people who actually do the work are minimum wage laborers who will be landscaping next week. Sometimes they get a little supervision, sometimes they don't. With the other guys you frequently have a whole team of strangers tromping around inside your house - which can be uncomfortable if you have valuable/delicate stuff and your family is there. When you hire Gary, you get a guy who clearly knows what he's doing and does a good job. The only drawback is that it's going to take him a little while to finish the job. He works fast and efficiently because he knows what he's doing - but one guy working alone is not going to finish a big job in a day (or two . . .). On the other hand, Gary is a personable and likeable guy and if there are problems, there is only one guy to see - and Gary stands behind his work. I had a really good experience with Gary and I'd highly recommend him to anybody else in need of flooring installation services - and you can't beat the price.

He did a magnificent job. For, installing hardwood floors is an art. He meticulously chooses each piece of wood, and makes precise cuts. He is trustworthy and a hard worker. I highly recommend Gary and would hire him again.

Gary work ethic is top notch! He worked everyday, even through weekends. He was very respectful of our home and family time. He works solo, which is amazing for all of the work that needs to be done to remove carpet and install hardwood. He came in and gave us an estimate and referred us to a few hardwood dealers. The pricing we received with his discount was AMAZING!!! His pricing is fair and well worth it. Gary is very conscientious, polite, on-time, and very hard working. He is respectful and does everything from move the furniture to sweeping and cleaning up as he goes. There was never one time that I felt I couldn't leave Gary in my home to work alone. He made sure the worksite was organized and cleaned up at the end of the day. He has a great personality and is very well respected in the industry. I wish I had more hardwood floor to buy because the end result was beautiful and more than we could have asked for.

Gary did an excellent job. His work is extraordinary. We still have not been able to find a dent or scratch on our floor since he installed it. He was always on time and always informed us of his schedule and worked with and around our schedule also. So if you ever need hardwood flooring installed in your home I highly recommend getting Gary to do the work. You will not be disappointed.

He is doing an amazing job and this is by far the best service we have received since moving to the area. He pays attention to every little detail and repairs anything that may be damaged along the way. He replaced a piece of our subfloor after discovering some old water damage and advised us on how to prevent it in the future. He's kind and great around our children and our dog loves him. Our floor looks amazing and we are so happy to have found Gary.
