I received an at-home quote for a 10'x14' deck (composite wood with vinyl rails). Went with a different company because the price was less for the same. I thought sales rep lack professionalism as he trash-talked other deck companies I was considering (even mentioning someone's personal issues ie. bankruptcy). I was completely turned off by this.

They were all gung ho coming out and giving the estimate. After they were awarded the job, there follow through was not good. I have no complaints on the workmanship. However, my fence was beginning to bulge after a few months and I contacted them they did not come out. It would have been nice for them to follow up and make sure I was happy.

Clinton was hired to change the fence to our townhouse. A crew came out to remove the old fence and construct a new one. They did a shoddy job. The wall adjacent to our neighbors stooped oddly toward the front. In the course of building that wall, they removed eight cinder blocks that they did not put back. Apparently the blocks were dug out of the neighbor’s garden, but they were left helter-skelter on our patio. The front wall and gate were not straight, and whereas the previous fence was directly against the garden, the new one left a substantial and uneven gap between the wall and the garden. To fit the new and larger gate they broke several paving stones that had served as a small wall around the garden. They left the stones broken. They also left the place a complete mess. We spoke with the company, and they sent someone almost immediately to evaluate. That person eventually (somewhat reluctantly) agreed that the job had not been done properly and suggested that one of the posts be moved forward to make the line straight, and that the stooped section be changed to a step section. The second crew came out to fix things. They didn’t know what to do about the cinder blocks; short of removing the entire fence and starting over, nothing could be done. When they were finished we discovered that they had barely fixed the front wall; an uneven gap remained, making the patio and garden look crooked. We spoke with the original sales person, Chuck Eiring, who was consistently responsive and helpful throughout this ordeal. He came out and agreed there was a problem. He asked us to be patient until "the best" guy could come out ("The only one who can fix this"). The fellow was in Canada and had four jobs ahead of us to do. We agreed to wait. About a month later that crew came and redid the wall adjacent to the neighbor's to remove the slanting forward, creating a step instead. That’s much nicer. They also moved the corner pillar forward to straighten the front wall. While the wall is straighter (not entirely straight), the gap between the wall and the garden is substantial. They also made an entirely new gate from scratch (there was a problem with that too). It looks much better. However, we recently discovered that the wall adjacent to the street was constructed in such a way that the edge of the garden is slowly washing away. The original crew had placed the side pillar too far out from the garden, so we have been steadily losing dirt. The garden is a mess and requires that we hire a landscaper to fix. The company refunded us $150 to cover the costs of the broken paving stones.

The work was great, but the gate wasn't exactly what I wanted. I should have been more precise and specified that I wanted a folding gate rather than a straight gate. Partly my fault, but the contractor could have raised the question also.

They worked within the time frame that they promised. I didn’t have issues with the installers. However they didn’t replace a damaged part of the fence. They said it was normal, but I was not happy with that. Their price was okay.

Installed 200 foot long, 5 foot high, chain link fence. Workers were prompt, efficient, fast, and cleaned up their mess. We were scheduled to have the fence started on a Wednesday, and the company called Monday to say they were behind (due to rain) and might not make it Wednesday. Then, on Tuesday, we received a call to say definitely not on Wednesday, still backed up, but they would be out on Thursday. Two workers showed up Thursday morning, and were done early Friday afternoon. We were quoted about two days so this was fine. These guys made it look so easy!!!

The posts were not put in straight and the problem has just gotten worse and worse. I have called them to come back out and they refuse because they said the warranty has expired. The fence was obviously not installed correctly and they need to take responsibly for the work they did. As a result of Angie’s List contacting Clinton Fence, they have come out to fix the fence to my satisfaction.

This place was not reliable at all and the quality of the work was bad too. Some of the boards were warped. They tried to pour concrete for the studs when it was raining. This caused two of them to move back and forth. It was just awful. I got in a small battle with them over the entire thing. In the end, they did fix it. We will see how long it stands up though.

Great! They were also about 25% less than the "major competitor" around this area.

He was on time and very professional. He was very knowledgeable and knew his business well.

Mostly great. The estimate was 1 to 2 days and it took 2. The estimate was a few poles off and the bill was adjusted upwards to cost. Fence line is straight and nearly invisible. There were a few concrete waste messes, some wire and pole cuttings were left on site and there were some holes where the dirt had not been put back in over the concrete but mostly they cleaned up OK. The fence is sound, looks good and needed no additional work from me besides minor cleanup. The only place I mark them down is there, I should not have had to do any cleanup at all.

Overall it went great. They started two days late due to the snow and ice storm we had, but they called to tell us they would be starting two days late and showed up within 15 minutes of the new start time. They tore down our old fence, cut a large tree out that had grown up since the old fence was installed. Installed the new fence and cleaned up after themselves. They kept us informed of their work schedule, were always polite and very professional. They were the only fence company that would take down the tree and cut limbs off of brush and other trees that were in the way. All the others said we would have to get a separate tree company to do the other work.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. THE ESTIMATE WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHAT I PAID. THEY DID A GREAT JOB WITH THE CLEAN UP. THEY TOOK THE OLD FENCE AWAY.
