A PLUS PAVING & CONCRETE

A Plus Paving and Concrete did a wonderful job. The project started well. Michelina (the estimator) was professional and polite through quite a few phone conversations and trips to my home to review the project and price out what I had in mind. She also gave me options that I hadn’t considered as well. They were patient with my questions while I went through the permits process (required for critical areas). They reviewed County guidelines and completed the job within St. Mary’s County regulations. The crew were professional, polite and conscientious about their work. A supervisor came and checked on the work a few times. After the old concrete was removed and the base layer was laid down, the crew foreman and supervisor felt that it would not be wise to immediately pour the asphalt because of softness of the dirt near the edge of the driveway. They explained this and I agreed with their opinion to give the area time to firm up. After about a week or two, they came back and poured the asphalt. The driveway is smooth, level and solid with even edges. I am very pleased with the job. Everyone comments on the driveway, particularly about the way the end that meets the street/road is angled and neatened. Even the County Inspector commented on the quality of the work.

The crew was both professional and polite. They took care not to damage existing landscape any more than necessary to accomplish the work. They took extra care to shape edges, contour the area in front of the garage so that water would not run into it or pond in front but would flow away from the structure. Weather caused some delays in completing the job, but the owner stayed in contact with me. He was very easy to work with accommodating revisions to the original plan after work was underway. They suggested improvements/options that I hadn't considered and was very happy to have - making the asphalt slope up to the door sill so that we now have easy access for wheelchair entry. The asphalt looks smooth with no dips and the edges are even and slanted so that they won't break or chip when driven on. The tie in to the County's sidewalk is neat and smooth on both the driveway side and the apron side. The apron is flared for easy entry and exiting access.

Neighborhood coordinator contacted various contractors and asked for bids for approximately 10 different homeowners. Richard met with each homeowner and discussed details of their particular job and marked the area to be paved. He measured the square footage and quoted a price with an option to further discount the cost depending on the numbers who enrolled. He came through with the discount and completed the project as agreed. He also returned to clean up some debris left on the side of the driveway. Overall, we were satisfied with the project.
