I bought a 32 hour "Hurricane" package from IOFL and have been working with the owner, Cheryl Osterhouse, in four-hour chunks since 2/10/12. So far, Cheryl and I have worked directly with each other for 28 hours over the last two months. Cheryl arrives right on time and works hard every minute that she is with me. So far we have tackled 25 years of paper and have created a sustainable home filing system based on categories that make sense to me; mail no longer builds up--I know what to do with it! Cheryl worked with me to organize one of my children's baby-to-college papers and projects and I was able to finish the others on my own. This was something I struggled with over the years--trying out various containers from huge plastic bags, that wouldn't stack, to under-bed storage containers, that wouldn't fit in a cabinet. Thanks to Cheryl, the kids' paperwork is organized into hanging files and folders and each child's information is stored in neat, stackable, accessible and labeled containers. We have also organized the games closet, the pantry, the office supplies, craft area, cards and gift wrap and we are making great progress with reorganizing the basement storage area. We are purging, donating, shredding, recycling and managing to have fun as we go.I have more organizing to do in other parts of the house and there is no doubt I will ask Cheryl to work with me again. Cheryl aims to give her customers back their lives by freeing them from things they no longer need and probably don't want--if they stopped to think about it. That said, Cheryl is also sensitive to things I simply want to keep for sentimental reasons. For instance, we saved some baby clothes as memorabilia-only, but have also other items that I can pull out later when/if we have grandchildren. Cheryl's services would be invaluable when people are downsizing or simply getting ready to move. Why pay to move or store things you don't really want or need? One of my coworkers mentioned her mom's clutter and I suggested she consider buying a home organizer package as a Christmas or Mother's Day gift.
Description of Work: In Order for Life (IOFL) is a professional home organization business. Owner Cheryl Osterhouse is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPA). Cheryl's website (http://inorderforlife.com/) has a lot of great information (including rates). Cheryl also gives talks at libraries and has taught non-credit classes on organization at the local community college (I found her name through a course catalog). Cheryl has a degree in social work from UMBC and is a calm, gentle, encouraging, trustworthy and ethical person. I highly recommend her to anyone stressed by the "stuff" they have accumulated over time.
