Description of Work: We had a number of faucet leaks that had accumulated and that needed to be dealt with. This work was actually done on 20 October 2008. The leak of greatest concern was a slow leak around the stem of the main water valve coming into the house. This valve is inside the wall, but reachable through a small door in the wall, so a leak in that location was particularly unwanted. Other leaks included a kitchen faucet, laundry room faucet, and a leaky outdoor valve coming out of the house. We had previously used Gambrill's for a significant leak in the main shower. All the leaks were repaired efficiently. Rick, the mechanic, determined that all were in repairable shape, and proceeded to disassemble them all and effect the appropriate repair. Everything is in tip-top shape, including the previous shower repair. Gambrill continues to provide excellent performance.

 + 1 moreI have to rely on people to take care of things like my septic tank and sump pump to keep them working properly. Gambrill does a great job. They are dependable, neat and easy to schedule.
Description of Work: Gambrill put in a new toilet and sink with in my home. They have in the past, also repaired small leaks, took care of my sump pump and maintained my septic tank.

I am happy with their service, they came and went quickly and you could not even tell he had been here, he cleaned-up very good, and was very polite. They stuck right to the estimate they gave me and I am happy to recommend them.

 + -1 moreThe job went extremely well. I was very pleased. All the work was completed in 1 day. The kitchen's sub-floor and a section of drywall were removed very neatly. I had requested that they let me replace the drywall and floor. The remaining items were completed as well with no issues.
Description of Work: Replaced a section of a cast iron sewer line that ran underground below my kitchen with PVC. Installed 2 connections for a gas dryer and gas range. Cleaned out a drain for an old sanitary tub. Lit my gas water heater.

 + -1 moreI was able to schedule an appointment for the same week I called. They called during the time period they were supposed to be at my house to say the plumber would not be able to make it. It was a Friday, so they rescheduled me for first thing Monday morning (8:00-ish). They called that morning to say the plumber was late getting in to the office. He showed up around 10:30. Thankfully the work wasn't urgent and I had nowhere else to be that morning. He completed the work efficiently and to my satisfaction. This was my first time using Gambrill. I will probably give them another chance.
Description of Work: Repair a burst outside water line, leaky stopcock, leaky showerhead, and leaky faucet.

Description of Work: I set up an appointment for an estimate. The weather was a little snowy in the AM. Nobody showed up. I called the office and nobody answered. Nobody ever called me to reschedule or apologize for not showing up as scheduled.

 + -1 moreWhen I called a receptionist answered immediately, and told me it would be the next afternoon before someone could come. I gave her my phone, and she said she would call before a man came. She did the next afternoon, and the guy arrived within 30 minutes in the snow. Our street was not plowed, so he parked on the access street, about 1/2 block away. He told us he would have to put a hole in the wall behind, which we knew would have to happen, and that it should take him about two hours at $94/hour. He proceeded, estimating where to put the hole, and trying to keep it as small as possible. Once in, he replaced the piece of pipe, then installed the faucet. The total time was about 2 1/2 hours including installation of the faucet.
Description of Work: Plumber replaced the pipe in the wall leading to the tub faucet, and installed a new faucet. He had to knock out a hole in the wall in the adjoining room to gain access.

 + -1 moreWA Grambrill redid the pipe work in the concrete floor and the plumbing leading to each fixture, installed the new toilet, vanity with a 2 sink top, and whirlpool with shower. We were very satisfied with the quality of the work and their flexibility to work with us. They always minimize the spreading of dust and left the place clean every time so we could start working in the bathroom as needed. Initially they came regularly. Then we occasionally had to call to remind them the project was waiting. They always came when they said they would.
Description of Work: My husband and I redid our bathroom ourselves except for the plumbing. The bathroom was very old and needed all new plumbing fixtures, ceiling, walls and floor. We also redesigned it to accommodate a whirlpool and moved the sinks.

Description of Work: He replaced the pipes to the plumbing to the second floor bathroom, replaced the sink and fixtures in the bathroom shower and sink. He also repaired a leaky outside faucet.

 + -1 moreWe've been using WA Gambrill for decades. They are true pros with a lot of experience. The price was as stated in the contract. For as messy as the work was, the plumbers were careful to be neat and clean inside the house. The price was fair and the senior plumber walked me through the work they had done at the end of the job. The only hiccup in the entire experience was that the initial work date was pushed back by a week due to an emergency on one of their large commercial jobs. Since we weren't in a huge hurry it was not an issue at all. The scheduler called and asked my permission to delay the work. I was told that they would honor the original date, but that I would be doing them a big favor by allowing the delay. I'm sure there are other good plumbers out there, but we wouldn't consider using anyone but W.A. Gambrill.
Description of Work: Installed a new water supply line from the street into our house. The old galvanized pipe had corroded. The work took one day. The work involved digging a trench in the front yard, pulling the old line out, putting the new one in, and hooking the system back up. As usual, they did a great job.

Description of Work: I asked the plumber to cover the PVC pipe so it wouldn't get teeth marks. He wrapped a rubber piece around it and got it off without a problem. He connected a new sump pump.

 + -1 moreThey came within a reasonable time after my call. They did a good job. Price was very fair. One little thing I didn't like was the addition of a charge of $2 for the high cost of gasoline. They charge $94 an hour, which is competitive, but includes travel time to and from the job. In my case the round-trip travel time was only about 20 minutes. Anyone living at some distance should take that into consideration. I would use them again.
Description of Work: They cleared a clogged washtub in the basement.
