Description of Work: We replaced the the kitchen counters and sink. Of all the showrooms and warehouses to view slabs of granite, this place was the best because there was plenty of natural light that allowed you to see the true color. Many other places we went to had football sized warehouses dimly lit with industrial lighting, making it very hard to judge the color of the slabs. | |Granite Outlet also had plenty of cabinet door and tile samples right there in the slab showroom to hold up next to the slabs. | |There was a bit of confusion in scheduling the slab viewing, and the installers showed up in the afternoon instead first thing in the morning. The installers did grumbled about how the measurement guy screwed up and then they snapped at me when I asked about how the back splash strip of granite was installed. "If you stop asking questions we can get our work done". They lost a good tip. | |They had good prices and a 5% off coupon from Angies list knocked off another hundred or so bucks. | |Our sales guy, Steve, was great in the showroom, but was new to this place and seemed unfamiliar with their procedures for ordering and schedule.

It was by far the worst experience I have ever had with anyone doing work on my house. I ordered cabinets with soft close drawers, but only one cabinet was delivered as ordered. I suspect Dulcie forgot to check the correct boxes on the order and I didn't notice her error. I complained, but they didn't do anything to correct this. Their contract says it's my responsibility to resolve defects or issues with the cabinets with the manufacturer - REALLY?! I placed a substantial deposit (almost the full price) on a lovely marble slab, but was told after my bathroom was torn up that the marble had been sold to someone who had a larger order - leaving me with no sink plumbing for weeks while I searched for a replacement slab. In addition, the work estimate changed several times. I had asked for an estimate of additional work prior to starting the project and when the cost estimate doubled, I requested to return to the original estimate and scope of work, but they added on another $600 and said that it was going to cost more without being able to explain why. Their estimates are not well defined, which gives them all the leverage to tack on additional fees later and the contract terms were EXTREMELY UNFAVORABLE to the consumer - read the fine print - RIDICULOUS TERMS. (In the end, I didn't use their installer, but I wouldn't have put non-refundable deposits on the marble or cabinets if I had reviewed the contracts first - yes, I should have known better.) The other review that mentions all the penalties for the customer is not exaggerating. Of course when they screwed up, they bore no penalty except to return my deposit. In the end, I was stuck with the cabinets, but found another marble slab elsewhere and a great contractor to do the installation. Buyer beware - stay away from this place. They seem to be so nice, but they do not treat people well.
Description of Work: Not a good merchant - stay away! I ordered cabinets for my master bathroom and placed a substantial deposit on a marble 1/2 slab that they verbally agreed to hold for me until my cabinets were ready to be installed, but after my cabinets were installed they informed me that they resold my marble slab to someone who had a bigger order. I was left with bathroom cabinets without plumbing for weeks while I searched for a replacement stone. The tried to get me to accept a substitute marble slab, but it looked completely different.

Everything went very well. Mary, our sales rep, kept in touch with us during the kitchen remodel. Mary had the final measure done immediately upon the installation of the cabinets. From there - the expected schedule was kept. The installers were great. All in all - a very positive experience.

They are good but I really have trouble with their responsiveness. When I did my first initial design they changed the job or something due to which they had to redo everything but other than that everything went smooth. I was not in a rush so that was ok with me but anyone else who uses them with a timeline will feel that they take too long to design kitchens. When they have an employee change it is easy to follow up with what they are doing. When I was dealing with the original girl she did not pick up or reply due to which I had to call the company to find out that she was not working with them anymore. There was some miscommunication and the new guy who they assigned the job to, had not even started.

About 13 months after the installation, the granite shelf above the stove fell off. It shattered on the floor and could have injured my grandchildren that were around. They will not return phone calls nor honor their work. They said the warranty was for 12 months, but this was due to poor workmanship. They did not install the shelf properly, which caused the shelf to fail.

I went to their showroom and selected a beautiful piece of granite that they pointed out was on a January sale. They explained the whole process to me. Just a few days later a man came and electronically measured the three pieces of granite I needed. In about 2 weeks two guys came and installed the countertops. Their work in removing my old pieces was fast, clean, and efficient. My new ones fit perfectly--couldn't have fit better. I was impressed that the person who had measured the spaces also showed up briefly to make sure the job was going well and that they fit. They were through in half a day. The next morning they sent the plumber to hook up all the plumbing. All their staff worked well, cleanly, and were at all times reassuring. I would recommend them to anybody not just for their price, which was excellent, but for their speed in installation and overall efficiency.

When I first called,I received an estimate in good time and the design produced was very good but the follow through was abhorrent. I could not get calls returned and when I did talk wtih them they said they were moving and that samples would be ready next week. Next week came but no response. This went on until I could wait no longer and went with another nearby company that had excellent service. Beware of this company.
Description of Work: I called to make an appointment for a kitchen remodel design and although Dulcie produced the design, she was unresponsive for setting up a time to view the granite samples. She told me they were moving to a new location whenever I would call for an update, but she never followed up with me so I went to another source. This was a very poor follow through and made me scramble at the last minute since the contractor was waiting for the granite so that he could proceed. I would tell people to stay away from Granite Outlet.

I picked out my granite in their showroom. They measured, fabricated it and installed it. It was painless for me.

First off -- they made a mistake, and the short end of the L-shaped countertop was a quarter inch too short. The rest of the countertop butted up against the existing tile backsplash (as expected), the end piece did not. Why am I giving them an A when they screwed up? Because of their efforts to ensure that the job was satisfactorily resolved. Now, really, the only thing that would made it perfect was to rip the whole thing out and do it over, but that did not seem reasonable to me, and would have been a hassle that I was just not willing to deal with. The mutually agreeable solution was to install a granite backsplash along the entire countertop (a look that many people choose to begin with). But for me -- that wasn't the look I wanted. I was concerned that it wouldn't look right, the existing tiles would get messed up, and I just wouldn't like it. But, they just finished installing it - and it looks great! Well, as great as a granite backsplash can look to someone who didn't want one to begin with! It does not look like a "make good" at all. It looks like it was intentional. The tile cutouts from my existing backsplash (done to inset the granite) were precise and the grouting completely hides the seam where the granite and tile meet. The backsplash seams (as well as the countertop seams) are practically invisible. Throughout the process, both the guy who was sent out to review my complaint and the guys I talked to on the phone were professional and expressed their desire to make sure I was satisfied. So maybe others wouldn't have considered this an "A" job, but I didn't think that a "B" accurately reflected the professionalism and effort they made to ensure that end job looked great -- and, did I mention -- it looks great!

STAY AWAY! Sales process was great. However, once work started issues began to happen. Late on work which caused delays in the process. Work which was quoted for 8-10 days has taken over 5 weeks to complete. Contractor arrived late at times. Issues included- No shoe molding, would have left it as is until complained, stated shorted by Kraft maid, will be ordering Granite delay due to sales rep Broken/Missing trays in cabinets Had to replace one door, which is normal Hole put in island cabinet due to drilling Missing/Damaged Sink parts due to contractor Granite installed incorrectly with unleveled around stove. Leaking Dishwasher No Cabinet Hardware Crack in granite approx 1 week after install Several parts of cuts on wood were not correct, causing use of touch up. Some were left until we pointed out Additionally, unresponsive sales person/incompetent store manager with additional costs and had to request reduction on deleted items during job! Go through an operations center out of VA which causes further delays and have to talk to several people. Overall, kitchen is nice, but was very rough process. Still dealing with issues. I stopped by the Millersville showroom just to see what they had to offer. I was so impressed with the price and selection that I returned later on with my husband. We worked with Kenny and Haley and they were able to get me the countertop I most wanted for a price I could afford. They arranged for the measurements to be taken as soon as my cabinets were in, then the countertop arrived just a few days later. Leo did a great job measuring and stopped by during the installation. Great team, great experience.

Full disclosure of all the terms & conditions are not given when you provide your 50% deposit, sign the initial agreement/contract, schedule the measurement date and the installation date. When the rep arrives to measure is when they begin to disclose all the terms & conditions. Now they tell you there is an additional charge to hide the seam under the sink in the countertop and your countertop is not level. They produce a second agreement/contract. In the new contract there is a $500.00 fine if your countertop is not level at the time of installation and you must then use their contractor, but they don't tell you who this is or how much they will charge; and, this is your additional expense. When you ask to have your contractor level your countertop prior to installation and for them to approve his work--agree the countertop is now level before installation (to avoid the $500.00 fine and unknown fees) they tell you it will be an additional $200.00 return trip fee. If you do not agree to the new terms they will not do the installation, which means the contract is cancelled and you now have to pay a $200.00 fine in the initial agreement, which you never would have signed if you knew what was in the second agreement.

Everything was to specs. Subs were very neat and prompt with the exception of a floor installer, but he got caught in traffic during the Baltimore Marathon. I would highly recommend although it was difficult at times to keep track of the pricing adjustments as we reassigned tasks from Granite Outlet employees to the subcontractors.
Description of Work: Galley style kitchen remodel (granite on counters on 1 side of kitchen). Used value granite option with Timberline cabinets. Company subcontractor removed old appliances, old cabinets and disconnected plumbing and gas lines. Subcontractor installed new new cabinets, garbage disposal sink, connected gas on new appliances, relocated fridge water line, installed new light fixture (provided by customer), installed new laminate flooring (provided by customer), installed new counter, made outlets GFI compliant, lowered wall and relocated light fixture.

Overall, I'd say that for the price and the turnaround time, it would be hard to beat granite outlet. But I would also say that the old adage "you get what you pay for," is certainly true in their case as well. I met with Dulcie at the Granite Outlet in Cocyseville several months ago to look at cabinets and countertops. She spent a good deal of time with us at that point and was instrumental in me actually picking granite, b/c granite outlet offers a resin sealed granite, which is fairly indestructable (a quality i was looking for). She had great retail knowledge of colors/names etc etc, but maybe less specefic knowledge of each individual stone and it's makeup etc. I did finally decide to go with them after some searching and a pretty bad encounter with the supposidely great folks over at counter intelligence. They had a fantastic price on white fantasy granite (about $50/sq ft!) and after doing some serious damage to the samples, we decided on it. After that, it was a bit of a whirlwind from ordering to install that came and went in about a week and a half. When the countertops were installed, I wasn't totally happy with the seaming (at first) and I called to have them fix it. Well, it's been well over a week at this point and no one has contacted me to resolve the issue and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Pros: d*** good price, fairly pleasant and knowledgeable staff, fairly good installers/fabricators, fast turnaround time, and a nice showroom. Cons: They dont really talk to you about the benefits/drawbacks of each stone (light color is pretty much impossible to seam invisibly, btw), you dont pick your own slab, and they aren't fantastic with communication. I might use them again, but I'd ask a LOT more questions, especially about the seaming, and ask to see examples of how the final would look with the chosen stone. But it does honestly look really good, and we got a LOT of counterspace done for not a whole lot of money (in the scheme of the granite world). It wasn't artisan work, for sure, but, i also didn't pay that much. so. fair is fair.

It was an extremely good experience. I am the husband and a cynic about service people but these people showed up in the right order, on time and did extremely good work. They kept the place clean and finished exactly how it was laid out in our planning. My wife made the purchase which she tells me was a good price - and she's a shopper.
Description of Work: We replaced existing Corian countertops with granite. The old tops had to be removed. Two cabinet sections had to be taken down - one a corner "garage", the other a standard cabinet to get the garage out. We had a stovetop that had to be taken out and reinstalled, and two sinks replaced (one a double.) Granite Outlet provided the carpenter for the cabinets, an electrician/plumber for the appliances and the installation people. It took two days and the result was as close to perfect as I have seen.

Tony was very patient, professional, and responsive in providing estimates for the different materials we were trying to decide upon for our kitchen countertops. After our negative experience with Classic Granite & Marble who provided us with an estimate they would not honor, this was a refreshing experience. The team that came to do the template were detailed and the installation went very well. The seams were tight, no surprises and they caulked very neatly. We were very happy with them and would use them again.
