My initial contact with Jeff Lemmon from Warren Fabrication led to a fairly punctual meeting and a good turnaround time for the quote. The quote was in the range of other quotes I received. Once I decided to go with him it fell apart. Jeff missed a meeting and never called. All attempts to reach him for the following week failed. Both his phones were disconnected. When we did hear from him again we decided to give him one more chance. He measured again and promised the railings in 2 weeks. We haven't heard from him since. The experience delayed our project significantly. We have since learned that he is a con man (to no surprise). He changes the name of his company to escape his own reputation so look out. We feel very lucky to have escaped without any money lost. Although he asked for it we felt uncomfortable giving him a deposit thank goodness.

The owner came out to our home to give the estimate; he is enthusiastic, had good ideas for the project, including a redesign that we liked, and for a style of iron railing that would look nice in our home. We opted for a railing that was "natural" (e.g. no powder coat). The owner described the process they use firing the iron and coating it so it won't rust. We were able to schedule pretty quickly. The owner & his assistant came to the house on time, per our appointment. He and the assistant performed the install. My wife was home during the install, and had them realign one newell post that had been installed a little crooked. Everything looked nice; we were especially pleased with the childgate they made for the landing. After they left, we noticed that 1 newell post installed did not match the rest - it was a slightly different design. This seems like something that they should have noticed during the install. At any rate, they came back the next week & replaced it. In early August, we noticed that the entire railing had a thin sheen of rust on it. I called Warren Fabrication immediately, and left messages every few days asking for them to please call me. They didn't call back. I finally left a message asking if they'd just tell me what I could do to fix it - no call. When my wife called just before Labor Day, the owner answered and said they'd come to take care of the week after Labor Day. The company still hasn't called to come out and fix the problem, despite our repeated calls. We are very disappointed. A relatively good experience has gone sour! UPDATE: after posting this to Angie's list, and after calling again from a different phone (!), the owner answered - finally. He said they've been very busy and that they'd come out some time in the next few weeks. When my wife said she was uncomfortable not having a specific appointment considering how long it had been w/out a response from them, the owner became testy and said he and his wife were "in the hopsital with bronchitis over the weekend" and that she was being "unreasonable". While we feel for anyone who is sick enough to be hospitalized, the fact of months passing without any response from his company limited our sympathy. They did send out a technician to repair the railing the next week (we had only a few hours notice that he'd be coming out). He was very nice and helpful, but it did not appear that the company's owner had prepared him for the fact that the ENTIRE railing system was rusted, and would need to be fully sanded, cleaned & recoated with enamel. My wife had to leave work to remove our 2 year-old from the house because of the fumes from the enameling, and I stayed with the technician the whole time to help him finish the work & make sure it was done right. So - the company did finally come back almost 3 months after they were told we had problems. A few spots of rust have come up again, but at least we know how to address them ourselves. If you enjoy having an $1800 railing system rust w/in a short time after installation inside your home, having your calls not returned, having the owner of the company whine and not take responsibility, and having to take time off work unexpectedly -- then this could the company for you.
