MICK'S PLUMBING HEATING & AIR

We were referred to Mick's to replace our 3 year old Ruud water heater by a neighbor. The gentlemen came out and the work was satisfactory. However, we had called and were initially told that the work was on an hourly basis. When the bill was presented, we were told that they could not offer an itemized bill and that everything was in fact on a fixed price basis. $732.50 for two hours of work! We had to call to get a copy of the invoice (as it still had not been sent after over a week). The pricing was not reasonable considering the job and should have been more transparent up front.

Do not use. Do not buy. Go elsewhere. Okay story time. I have mick's install an entirely new system about a year ago. Indoor and outdoor units with new nest thermostat. New system, modern thermostat. About 6 months in, at the beginning of winter. The heat is supposed to come on and system starts short cycling ( the fan spins up and then stops and tries again ). After 3 tech visits, they blame a short, again in the new system they installed, and they also blame the thermostat. They change it from the default wiring to use an unused wire and swap out to a new nest. Works all winter. It is now the beginning of summer. When the AC comes on, it works for a little bit and then starts blowing hot air ( though the thermostat is in cold mode ). So I called again for service ( again this is a new system). They come out to reboot the nest and tell me it is the "auto" feature on the nest that is causing the issue. Cold only or Hot only would fix. They charge me for the visit, to fix the still new system, and then a week later with it only being on Cold mode, it happens again. They are now charging me again to come out, saying it was fixed when they left. And they want to charge me $350 for a new thermostat, though I bought the nest through them without any reservations or concerns on their part. They are claiming the nest issue is a known one and that because I asked for it I am responsible. That they have no responsibility for the quality of the items that they install. At this point I am not sure how this is going to resolve, but I do know that I will tell anyone who will listen. DO NOT USE MICK's they will waste your time and money and after all that you'll still need to use someone else. On top of all of this, the GM was extremely condescending and had no real interest in actually taking accountability or even attempting to get this resolved in a reasonable manner.

Great. I literally had no water. Mick's was on the job within 2 hours of calling them. It was an expensive repair but from the research I did on the internet it was not out of line with other service providers. Everyone is very professional and knowledgable---from the person who took my call to the technicians. All along the process, the technician explained what he was doing and associated costs. It's never a pleasant experience to have a major plumbing issue but have knowledgable, professional service does relieve some of the anxiety.

Installed gas fireplace. Cut down an antique mantle that I took from my Grandparents farmhouse, built a beautiful wooden hearth and installed the faux stone front. Workmanship is beautiful. Micks is so much more than plumbing and heating. Ralph is a fantastic carpenter! They have done well over $150,000 worth of work in my house. Here's a list of all the work: Gutting and renovating existing bathroom (downstairs) Tearing out a wall building a new bathroom (upstairs) Installing new water heater Installed HVAC, house was originally built without. We had baseboard heaters and window A/C Demo existing kitchen and rebuilt Excellent work, trustworthy and fairly priced. I never hesitate to call on Mick and his crew. You just can't get any better!

We learned late Thursday night that shut off valve to the outside hose bib was leaking. Our garage has been converted to a guest room and PVC pipe extends through the room. I called Friday morning since they are in town and I hoped we wouldn't have to go through the weekend with the leak. I called around 10:00a and they were there at 1:45p! They called and I explained that I had to leave by a certain time for school pick-ups, which they totally understood and accommodated. They came in, isolated the incident, fixed it and it was done! The hardest part was finding out HOW to turn off the water because, strangely enough, that particular pipe is rigged through the water heater. But through a process of elimination it was worked out. They explained all sorts of thing to me and we were good to go! They were super friendly and helped me begin the drying out process. My only bummer was that we didn't discuss cost before completing the work; they just did it. BUT since we aren't very handy it wasn't too big of a deal. They were able to tell me, when I asked, that it wouldn't go over a certain amount, which was very reasonable. Knowing that they were between a rock and a hard place (they can't tell me because that pigeon holes them and they aren't the ones that make the rules) and that they really did do a great job, I'm not complaining. They've helped with an earlier leak as well so I had no qualms calling them again. Overall, loved the experience and certainly will have them back!

The employee that came out to my house checked our heatpump to see why it might not be running efficiently. He added some fluid to the unit which will be slightly helpful but explained that there's a leak. He also explained that the unit the builder used on our house is not big enough compared to the size of our house. I thought he did a good job because he really took his time explaining things to me very thoroughly. I was very happy with the service.

Work was done well but they needed to figure the total bill afterwards. I left them to do so and charge my card and they ended up charging me over $500 to do the job! They charged labor for much longer than actual work time and did so at an overtime rate even though the job was done during normal daytime hours. I was outraged when i saw the price for the work. The price for parts used wasn't unreasonable but the labor hours and rate was way out of line. I asked about the pricing but never received a response and it was charged directly to my card. I got the bill in the mail days after the work was done and charged instead of them calling me to advise and discuss. I felt like I was taken of advantage of and as they are local expected better. I have never had this kind of situation with any contractor in the past and feel it was unreasonable, especially given the nature of the job and the easy access to the pipes needed to be cleared.

Not really well it took way to long, which is why it cost so much -- in fairness it appeared they ran into some unforseen problems . I have used them in the past and found them to be very fair and efficient

PERFECT! Absolutely perfect. Mick and his team are just a pleasure to work with. Fair, on time, trustworthy and excellent workmanship. This is not the first work that Mick has done in my home and definately will not be the last. His team communicates problems and always offers solutions. And those solutions do not always cost an arm and a leg. Mick and his team also remodeled my kitchen. Again, beautiful workmanship. If you are looking for excellent work, fair pricing and trustworthy....you'll find it with Mick and his team!

One example was on the eve of Snowmageddon, our hot water heater started leaking. They came right away, in the snow, with 3 feet of snow forecasted - on a Friday afternoon. They did not charge us any extra for coming under such conditions. They were in and out within 2 hours and we had a new hot water heater. They do great work!

I was having issues with my gas furnace. It would act and sound like it was starting but never really kicked on. I called in the morning and the office took my contact information and a brief description of my problem. I was told a technican would call me back. He called back and said he could be there in about 25 minutes. He arrived in 20-25 minutes, did some troubleshooting and diagnosed the problem as the capcitor. It was fixed and he was out the door in less than an hour---even replaced my filter on the way out. All for $113. I'm really impressed that they were about to come out the same morning that I called. I did some online research and found that they charged me a very good price for this service. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them. They are courteous, friendly, responsive, and reasonably priced.

They are unbelievably fast. If you call in the morning they usually come in a couple of hours. They are very professional. They charge a flat $95 an hour and usually they can get everything done within that hour. They are very good. I have never spend over $100 with them. You have to sometimes pay $5 for materials. I have never had a bad experience. We called on a Sunday and they came out the next day at 9am. They are local and everybody knows them. They are the only plumbers we will use.

He did a great job. I would definitely use him in the future.

They were supposed to come and clean our furnace. They called us and said that they needed to triage us because many of their other customers didn’t have an AC and so they would not be coming out to clean our furnace. I then complained to them that it pours water on the floor and so they said that they would come and fix that. They came on a Friday and said that their secretary would call us on Monday to reschedule so that we could get our furnace cleaned because we had just moved into this house. I then clarified with him if he was sure that his secretary would call me but nobody ever called. Their prices were good and that is the only bad thing that I can say. They didn’t even charge me for the work that they did and told me that they would work it out when they come out to clean the furnace. There are a lot of different people out there looking for business. I would just go somewhere else since they didn’t even call me back after promising they would. They did good work but they functioned differently than what we are accustomed to. The fact that they didn’t followup is just crazy. Our service call was triage because everybody needed their air conditioner fixed. They are not a bad company but it looks like they have a lot of business and are not in need of new business. They were very punctual. They were professional when they came out. I thought that the idea of triaging is only in the health care business. I would probably not use their services in the future.

I have used them on numerous occasions. They offer good service at a fair price. The employees are trustworthy, friendly, and well trained. I will definitely use them for all of my future service needs.
