The company didn't respond to my request for an appointment.

Mostly well. My biggest issue is having to supply materials. I wouldn't mind that if they told you ahead of time exactly what is needed. There seemed to be an expectation I would know which joint compound to get. They should specify materials to provide when they confirm the appointment. I had to go the store to get the specific type of compound for the drying time which ate into my 3 hours service time. While I did that, he hung my cabinet in the bathroom and a shelf in the kitchen (in progress when I returned). Thankfully I already had leftover drywall in 2 different thicknesses. They even expected me to provide screws or nails for hanging things. The tech was professional and good. I just don't want to be responsible for guessing materials and providing them. I would rather pay for someone coming prepared or specifying what they will need. He didn't finish the drywall in the allotted time. Another coat and/or sanding is needed. Not surprising since I had 4 small areas in different rooms. They never contacted me to see if I wanted them to come back to finish or to see how my experience was. There is room for improvement in the customer service area. I probably would not hire them again. My bar is pretty high.

Bought their $369 Handyman for the Day coupon by reading positive reviews. I am located in Herndon VA and they were based out of temple hills, MD so I thought it will be tough to get appointment schedule but it was schedule with a week. Handymen came on time (30 mins late but he did call that he is running late due to traffic). He was driving from MD to Northern VA and I understand traffic is bad on beltway during rush hours. He had all necessary tools and got to work immediately. Great exp as compare to other companies via angielist who would not even call back for scheduling appointment.

Overall he got stuff done but I had to provide all tools and screws, which is weird for a handyman who had received a list of what i needed done up front. Also, he did not install the faucet correctly at first and I had to ask him to undo it and reinstall. (Only 1 hole was in counter but he used the plate under the faucet anyway when it wasn't needed. Every other contractor I talked to said he should have known better.) I was never told I had to provide the screw and tools so that should have been made clear up front.

It went well Jonathan was great, he came in, got the list and started working right away. He did not waste time or anything.

Work was completed in a timely manner and to our liking.

The handyman Jonathan was prompt, courteous, and professional. He managed his time well while performing the list of task I supplied and the craftsmanship competency he displayed was excellent.

All went well except they had to come back on a different day to complete work. Also, three of the jobs I wanted done, they were not able to perform either because we did not have materials or something.

Excellent. Temperature obviously improved in home, without a doubt, the best the house has felt since we moved in.

I purchased the Angie’s list big deal from JA Renovations & Home Improvement for 6 hours of handyman service for $289.00 on Sunday October 30, 2016. I chose JA Renovations based off my past satisfactory experience that I had with them from October 2015 and based on their current Angie’s list reviews regarding their fair prices and great customer service. I contacted the company through Angie’s list email to schedule an appointment for some work in one on my properties for a tenant. I requested that we schedule the work sometime within the week because my tenant was having an event at her home on Saturday November 5, 2016 at 4:00 pm. I emailed JA Renovations my contact information as well as my tenant’s contact information to schedule that appointment for the work to de performed. I did not receive any emails from J&A renovations on Monday October 31st nor Tuesday November 1st so I called on both days to speak with someone over the phone. I did not received an email from JA Renovations until late Wednesday November 2 stating that the service appointment was set up for Thursday November 3 at 0700 am. That night on Wednesday November 2; I emailed my tenant the appointment information. The list below were all of the tasks that the handyman was support to be complete: 1. Install two doors with frames: one was a bedroom and a small linen closet door in the hallway. 2. Measure the opening of the closet in the first bedroom. 3. Install one sliding door with the track for the hallway coat closet and paint the door white. 4. Paint the kitchen ceiling painted white. 5. Install the kitchen backsplash tile under the cabinets 6. Install blinds in kitchen and living room windows. On Thursday November 2 JA Renovations did not show up for the appointment nor did they call the tenant or me to inform us that they could not make the appointment. On Friday November 3, I reached out to JA Renovation via email and by phone to have someone from their company to see if they could come out on Friday to perform the work. I finally got an email saying they would be able to come out at 4pm on Saturday, I contract and spoke to JA Renovations stating that time would be too late because of my tenant’s scheduled event. Mr. Jario of JA Renovations stated that he would send someone out at 7am on Saturday November 5. A JA Renovations’ worker did not arrive until 11:30am and said he could only stay for 2 hours because he was needed back on another job. He installed the doors and hung the blinds and left at approximately 1:30pm.

They were very responsive and professional. I was contacted the same day I purchased the deal to make an appointment. They answered all of my questions and we're very helpful. I will definitely hire them when I am ready to get the work done.

Handyman arrived on time. We talked about work needed, the materials and the space to work. This is the 2nd project I do with JA Renovations, and I am so pleased with their professionalism and approachability. There were some issues with my design in the space near the door. We discussed the problem and the most logical solution without altering the design. The depth of the shelf needed to be reduced due to the door frame. It turned out beautiful, even if the shelves on either side of the organizer are of different depths. He cleaned up the debris after he finished. I will defenitely use them for my next project.

The handyman was excellent, professional, responsive, fast, and efficient. He put in a ceiling fan and another light fixture and fixed some floor molding in his first visit. In his second visit, he put in about five light fixtures. Great job! Very satisfied!

I called twice. Nothing. I sent an appointment email. Nothing. It's been more than two weeks since the last time I called.

Came on time and was very professional. Definitely plan to hire them again.

I purchased a big deal for 3 hours of handyman service. I sent a description to the service provider as well as pictures of what work that I needed to be done in the 3 hours.. The service provider agreed and set up a time to come out to do the work. I first asked the handyman to replace the cartridge in the shower. He told me that it was not the right part. I told him that it was the right part and that I had replaced other shower cartridge in my house with that part . I had to guide him in that process in installing the cartridge. Next I asked him to replace the diverter in the tub. He was unable to get that to work. He told me the part was not good and that he needed to get another one from the store. The handyman than took well over an hour to go to the store to get the diverter and he ended up getting the wrong part not similar to the one that I had. He then told me that he only had 30 minutes left of the 3 hours. I told him to do the stonework. He was very sloppy and the stones were put not evenly. It also appears that he got the wrong cement. It appeared that he had no experience in stonework before. He told me that he had to go and he had another appointment. I told him that I would pay if he would just complete it. He refused and insisted that he had to go. He ended up leaving the stonework incomplete and it appears that whatever work he did needs to be redone. Also he never put back the original diverter which I ended up having to do. It appears that the handyman was not qualified to do the work and also I am not satisfied with whatever if any work that they completed. I also did not appreciate the service provider leaving the work uncompleted and in an unsatisfactory state.

**You will be tempted to use this company because of the low price..and that would be a mistake (please see the attached picture for the damage incurred by them).** The handyman was supposed to come to the house at 8:00. At 8:30, no one had come and I called the company number. I was told the handyman was still on his way and had gotten stuck in traffic. A few minutes after that, I received a call from the handyman stating he had an emergency and would be there in the afternoon. I called the manager back and told him this and the manager told me he would talk to the handyman and that the handyman would come to my house by 10:00. The handyman came to the house by 10:00 and got straight to work. He started in the downstairs bathroom by replacing the faucet. Then he went to work on the upstairs bathroom. We reviewed where I wanted the towel bar, shower rod, and pulls for the drawer. He stated he did not have the right anchors for the towel bar and toilet paper holder (given he was drilling into tile) so I called my husband (who was out of the house) to stop on his way home and to pick some up at Home Depot. When my husband came home, he went to talk to the handyman. He asked the handyman if the place holders for the shower rod he was positioning were in the correct orientation (the handyman positioned them vertically, and my husband wasn't sure if they should be horizontal). The handyman assured him he was correct. A few minutes later, the handyman went to find my husband to show him in fact that the place holders for the rod would not really work to hold the rod with the orientation he had drilled them in. With my husband's help, the handyman wiggled the rod into place despite the incorrect place holder orientation. The rod is mostly (though not entirely) stable despite the fact that the rods are not in the correct orientation. About 30-30 minutes after that, the handyman left our home and said the job was complete (I was putting my son to sleep at that time) and did not see him out. Later that night, I noticed a long scratch/gash on the vanity. At first I thought it was dust, but when I touched it, it was obviously deep. This is a brand new vanity (we've had it for less than 2 months) and most certainly was NOT there before the handyman. I emailed Mr. Aguilar (who I presume is the manager) and told him of this. I received an email stating that Jonathan would be at my place on 11/7 at 4:30 to assess the damage. This was a no-show. When I emailed about the no-show, I received an email stating that Jonathan would come on 11/8 at 4-4:30. Jonathan came bye (he was the initial handyman who had done the work) and looked at the scratch/gash. He asked if I was certain that the scratch was not there before he began his work. I assured him it was not. He asked if he could try a polish to minimize the damage. He tried the polish stain but we both agreed it really did not help. He took a picture of the damaged vanity drawer face plate and assured me that the company owner would cover the damage of it. and he HAS NOT. ANGIE'S LIST RESOLUTION MANAGEMENT HAS BEEN ALERTED TO THIS AND IS KEEPING THE COMPLAINT ON FILE.
