Installed shower bars and handheld shower head for significantly more the the estimate as I understood it. The shower head began leaking within a few months. (Called for repair. Waiting for response.) They did not follow through on installing the front entrance handrail even after I called. Eventually had a ramp with handrails installed by another service provider who recommended by the rehabilitation center. By far the worst service I received from any Angie's List service provider.
Description of Work: Strategies for Independent Living installed 2 shower bars and a handheld shower head. Measured for handrails for the steps on the front entrance.

We met the owner who surveyed the work needed and provided a bid promptly. The techs came when scheduled, worked diligently, and finished on time. The home was ready for our relative when she returned from the rehab facility.

Excellent service. They came and discussed our needs, provided a series of options and were extremely quick in getting the work done. Quality was excellent. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. They have been back several times to do additional work as it became clearer what we needed. They are always very nice, get the work done well and leave everything very clean. We could not have been more pleased.

It went very well. They were very responsive, and they came out within a couple of days of my first inquiry. They did a great job assessing what other safety modifications could be installed to make things easier.

The carpenter was professional and his work was without flaw. The carpenter came on time and worked diligently. It was easy to schedule appointments and the scheduler was helpful and kept me informed during the process. The price was very reasonable.

Very responsive to my parent's needs. When ramp parts shipment was delayed due to no fault of Strategies for Independent Living, they installed a temporary ramp so my mom could get in and out of the house. They then removed that ramp and installed the custom ramp about a week later. It was exactly what my mom needed. When she no longer needed it, they promptly came and removed the ramp, leaving no damage to the stone steps in front of the house. They have offered to try to resell the ramp to recoup some of our investments. Overall, very satisfied with their professionalism and service. Would not hesitate to use them again.

They were very compassionate and understanding about the challenges we were experiencing. They did not do more than they needed to. They had great sub contractors. The work took about 3 months to complete since it was a major reconstructions. I plan on using them for my other bathrooms.

We had a very successful remodeling job from this company and were completely satisfied in every way with Mr. Hage and his contractors. In contrast to some other remodeling jobs we've had, everything was clearly spelled out: costs, schedule, allowances, etc. We had three estimates and chose his company. Mr. Hage was very responsive to any concerns and followed up on each phase of the job. Mr. Hage is experienced at adapting homes for aging in place and we were happy to recommend him to some neighbors with those needs. We are delighted with our new bathroom! We look forward to using his services for my next project.
Description of Work: Replaced tile, toilet, sink, sink cabinet, medicine cabinet. Rebuilt shower and installed new fixtures, installed new window and plumbing.

We were very pleased with the assessment report. It included both major issues, such options for the bathroom, laundry, and lifts for home access, as well as detailed issues such as the installation of grab bars. Steve and his contractors did an excellent job with the bathroom upgrade and installing an upstairs laundry and we are extremely pleased with the results. Steve visited the house almost every day during the major construction period to monitor the status and quality of the work. We also requested some changes to the plans, which Steve took in stride. The contractors did a good job of cleaning up. It was clear throughout that Steve’s top priority is customer satisfaction. We are proceeding with having Strategies For Independent Living do additional work for us this year. Steve has worked in the Aging in Place area for years and brings a wealth of practical experience. As a result he addressed important details that we think other contractors would miss. We highly recommend the company.
Description of Work: Strategies For Independent Living conducted an assessment of our house to facilitate a discussion on the feasibility and cost of our Aging in Place in our existing home. Steve Hage visited our home, discussed the issues and our thoughts, and then toured the house. He prepared a detailed report which included a summary of our discussion, observations, and pricing and budget considerations. We have an older, and relatively small home which presented additional challenges. We decided to proceed with having Strategies For Independent Living do a full bathroom upgrade including safety and accessibility features, and installing an upstairs laundry. This included demolishing the existing bathroom, installing a new subfloor, building a no-curb (roll-in) tile shower, tiling the floor, re-arranging the plumbing and electrical, and installing a new toilet, sink, medicine cabinet, and lights. For the laundry, electrical and plumbing work was done as required as required to hook up a full-sized washer and dryer. A dryer vent, wall cabinets, countertop and a new ceiling light were installed. The walls, ceiling, door, window and trim of the bathroom and laundry area were patched and painted. Steve also does other home improvement work and works with a variety of contractors. For example, one of contractors repaired a metal porch.
