The guy who came out and gave us the estimate was in a little bit of a hurry. He first told us that nothing needed to be done to our roof but our buyers were requesting repairs. We were really in a bad situation with that so we just went forward with it because we were really in a bad time constraint to get the repairs done for selling the house. It took them quite a while and a good bit of back and forth to actually get the work scheduled and to be on that calender and get them out here, so that was a little bit stressful. The price was reasonable because it was a little lower than we expected to hear.

We used Angie's List and got a number of estimates. They were not the cheapest but we liked our interaction with the sales representative. They have a showroom and we were able to go out there to have a second follow up meeting and we looked at materials so we decided to go with them.

The salesman was very friendly and easy to work with.  The estimate was the least expensive of the three I received.  The workers were on time in the morning and worked diligently, but most of them were difficult to communicate due to a language barrier.  I am fairly sure the work was subcontracted out due to some of the paperwork at completion having a different company's name on it.  The work took two days to complete, but the roof and skylights were finished on the first day.  The work crew left for the day without any communication regarding when the siding would be completed and I discovered they crushed my downspouts in order to collect the roofing nails from the previous roof's removal.  I called the company to complain about the downspouts and they came the next day to replace my downspouts and repair the siding as planned.  The quality of the work was good.

This is the third time we have hired S&K to work on our house - please see previous posts.  I am very picky and detailed orientated and so is S&K Roofing and Windows.  Everyone we have dealt with there is a true professional and that includes the office staff too!
     This time we wanted to replace several contractor-grade single hung windows that had lots of issues - all difficult to open/close, a couple were jammed and all were very drafty and they were a major pain to clean.  S&K came out and recommended the BF Rich Cabernet R-5 double hung replacement windows along with the Green Shield Dual-Glazed window package.  We even drove to their Eldersburg showroom to check out the windows - my wife loved them, especially the double hung feature (makes cleaning very easy).
     S&K's staff said it would be about 3-4 weeks to order the custom made windows.  About three weeks later they called and said the windows were in and we scheduled a day for the work.  The window crew showed up on time and laid down drop cloths every where.  The two men were very efficient, hard working and very professional.  I had removed all the blinds and curtains for easy access.  The installers told me they will install the new windows in such a manner that we will be able to reuse our custom made blinds and shades.  They worked all day and replaced all nine windows by late afternoon.  They cleaned up everything.  They showed me how the windows worked and pointed out several details.  All in all everything looked and worked excellent.  My only concern was the odor of the caulk which was rather strong and took several days to air out the house (and that is the ONLY complaint I have had with S&K concerning three major jobs on our house).
      A quick word here about S&K's crews, they seem dedicated to certain tasks.  We have had three jobs done by three different crews all dedicated to their specific specialty.  A couple of years ago we had a siding crew that knew their job and did an outstanding repair job on our siding.  The roofing crew, again dedicated professional roofers, did a fantastic job on our roof replacement.  The window crew were focused on window replacement.  This makes a big difference to me - these crews know what they are doing.  We are going to have S&K do the windows along the back of the house later this summer.
     I have said it before and I will say it again - I highly recommend S&K Roofing and Windows to Angie's List members.  You might pay a few more bucks but remember - you get what you pay for.  You will not be disappointed.

Took several price quotes from different roofing companies.  S&K Roofing was above the average quote but the only company to spell out in detail exactly what they would do.  Visiting their showroom helped answer several questions we had.  Was already familiar with S&K as they did an outstanding repair job on our house following the Sandy storm.  Our existing roof was 15 years old and we were loosing shingles just about every decent storm we had.  On the installation date a large crew of six showed up, spread tarps around our house and covered our extensive landscaping.  They removed the existing layer of roof shingles in an orderly fashion cleaning up as they went along. They installed 15 lb felt with Ice and Water Guard in the valleys and long the first three feet of roof near the edges.  They installed new pipe collaras and new aluminum apron flashing, new drip edge and even re-installed my gutter screening.  They installed the new roofing shingles and the new ridge vent system wherever needed.  They cleaned up for the day and came back the next morning and finished up the job.  They cleaned up everything including using a magnet to pick up all the nails.  The crew was very professional and respected our property and our home.  No loud radios were blasting!  They worked steady and with a purpose.  The lead roofer was very respectful and answered all my questions and concerns.  S&K is a great company to do business with.  The roof looks fantastic and we have had no issues whatsoever.  I made a good choice and would highly recommend S&K Roofing to other Angie's' List members.

We obviously had a considerable amount of repairs done to our 30 year old house. From start to finish....every single members of the S and K team was professional, knowledgable, friendly and communicative. If we called with a question....someone was always found to provide us with an answer. The crews arrived on time as scheduled and if there was a delay due to weather, S and K initiated a call and rescheduled. We obtained 2 estimates for roof replacement and S and K's estimate was considerably less for the same quality materials. We had one window that was rotten due to water and sun exposure. We obtained an estimate from a well known window replacement company and the sales rep. Indicated that we needed many windows and exterior doors replaced to the tune of over $30,000.00. The S and K window rep. indicated that our windows and doors were consistent with 30 years of age...and yes indeed not as energy efficient as newer windows but were certainly in good condition and not in need of replacement. We had only signed the contract for roof replacement when a huge storm came thorough and we noticed several leaks on the interior ceilings of our home. I know S and K was in high demand due to many home owners suffering significant roof damage. Even though our roof repair had not begun...S and K responded to my concerned call and sent out someone to look at our roof and patch temporarily until our roof replacement would take place. This is an honest family run business with remarkable customer service. We highly recommend S and K and have referred many friends and neighbors due to our satisfaction. They've been very good. They were recommended to me. It's family owned and operated. They did an excellent job of putting the roof up. I was impressed because when I went upstairs and looked up through the bathroom window, I saw the edge of it which wasn't straight. I mentioned it to him. I called him and he came right up and took care of it. The new roof looks great. They cleaned up completely. Their pricing seemed reasonable to me. Their quality is excellent.

S&K replaced our roof and siding. Their work was excellent and their prices very reasonable. The workers were diligent and polite. They cleaned up well each day before they left. The owner honored all coupons checked on the work. There were no problems and I'm sue if there had been they would have been fixed without hesitation. We intend to use S&K again to wrap some of the wood trim. I highly recommend them!

It was great.  I've used them before for my clients and they do really good.

S&K was very responsive to my wants and needs for a roof.  Shane called me on the phone number I provided to setup an estimate.  When I called him back, I let him know that I can be hard to reach via phone, and if we can setup an appointment via email that would be best.  He emailed me and we setup a time.  Shane arrived within the window he described.  Shane was extremely nice, professional and knowledgable.  He was very low pressure and you can see that he has pride in his job and S&K.  He promptly went on the roof and took measurements and inspected the roof.  Our roof was approximately 20 years old and in need of replacement.  Shane recommended Certainteed's Architectural line of roofing.  He left us with a folder of information, along with referrals.  We received an email within a few days, as promised, with the proposal contract.  A physical copy was mailed to us as well.  The pricing was very competitive. We contacted them about financing too and that was very easy to setup.  We went with S&K because they seem to be very customer orientated, polite, professional, and efficient.  After the contract details were ironed out, S&K was able to work with my schedule, since I had some days off work coming up.  They were able to schedule install on the day of my choosing with no hesitation. 
The day of install came and the crew came on-time.  The crew arrived, then the materials arrived, along with a crane to lift the materials onto the roof.  The crew got to work right away and worked very hard at removing the old roof.  Soon a dump truck came and backed onto our driveway to collect and recycle the old roof.  The crew was extremely efficient, very respectful of our neighborhood (adjusted their vehicles to stay out of the way, DIDN'T play music, or unnecessarily shout/cuss).  Work was completed in about 8 hours.  The crew cleaned every piece of garbage material off our property and spent a lot of time combing our property with a magnet (for nails).  
Hats off to S&K for a job well done and made a large home improvement project run very smoothly.

I like the price that they gave us and the fact that they seemed capable.  They guaranteed the time frame for them to do it.  The price was a fixed price like other people were trying to say "Oh well, when we reap it open we won't know how much we're going to charge you." We got a quote that was a fixed price but it was much higher.  They were a lower fixed price and really capable of actually following through on that fixed price as well.  They are timely and helpful.  Our house is four storeys tall and they didn't let that get in their way of getting the job done well.

This company is a pleasure to deal with.  The work was done promptly and properly, site thoroughly cleaned up.

Everyone I had contact with was polite, professional and knowledgeable. The work crew were not native speakers of  English

but spoke well enough to easily communicate with.  I believe I received a quality job at a fair(not the cheapest) price. I will absolutely use them again.

From the estimate, through completion and clean up, everyone we dealt with was courteous, efficient, and professional.  We plan on using them for future projects and would recommend them to anyone.
