S&K Roofing, Siding, and Windows

The buyer of my home requested the slate roof be inspected and repaired as necessary as part of our post-inspection agreement. I called S&K and they were able to send someone out relatively quickly. The estimator provided me with an estimate of $750 for the replacement of up to 15 tiles along with caulking the chimney flashing. When the day came for the actual repairs, the roofer arrived promptly and was very friendly. After a quick look, he informed that only 1 tile needed to be replaced. He took care of this work quickly and was also nice enough to seal the flashing on my front porch roof as well. Overall, the service provided was good. I am just wondering if the estimate was based on an actual examination of the roof. I didn't receive a discounted final price even though only 1 tile needed replacing.

From start to finish, estimate to installation, everything went perfectly. The installation was expertly done and the door looks beautiful. I previously used S&K for new windows and will use them again in the future.

We got four bids to replace our roof and chose S&K Roofing because their price was competitive and they offered a complete "system" of products that resulted in an elevated warranty from the manufacturer. They tore off and replaced our roof with architectural shingles and removed and replaced four skylights as part of the job. The large crew showed up early and worked hard until early evening, completing the work in one day. They cleaned up very well, so aside from a couple of nails we found on the ground there was no evidence the roof had been replaced.

These guys were awesome. We asked for an estimate for replacement windows, and they were professional, low-pressure, knowledgable, friendly, I mean I could go on and on. Their price was right and they have a great product. We asked them about 4 or 5 times for a new estimate, when we couldn't decide between double hungs, casements, sliders... and S&K was very responsive. Our final decision came down to S&K and another contractor, and we chose the other contractor b/c S&K was a little higher priced but we felt the windows and installation quality was the same.

We were thrilled with that. They were just a terrific company. They did a beautiful job. We're extremely pleased with their work. They were very straightforward about the whole thing and explained what needed to happen and so forth and did an excellent job. I can't say enough about them. They were just outstanding.

Initially I was told it would be 3 or 4 weeks before they could start but it was closer to 6. We had a lot of rain this spring and early summer so I am willing to let that go. When they came out they also were at my house from before 7 am to 8 pm to make sure it was done. I got two quotes for my project, S&K was the lower bid and they had done some major work for a friend of mine and did a very good job there so I went with them. The sales rep was very professional when he came to my house to give me a quote and at no time did I feel any pressure from him to complete the sale. There was a team of about 8 people working on my siding project and they worked very hard. I also know enough about what they were doing to tell that they did a very good job. A few days later someone came to inspect the work and a few days after that one of the workers came back to fix something that I had noticed but was not going to bother saying anything about. The fact that they came back to make sure the job was done right was very impressive. I will be using S&K again when I finish the siding and eventually when I get windows. On another note I got a quote to replace 3 windows because I wanted to budget for the next job and I was very impressed with the price.

S&K came out to give me an estimate the day after I called them. They mentioned that Gutter helmet needed to remove and re-install the Gutter helmet or it would void their warrantee. I had forgotten. It took about three weeks to get the helmet removed. We scheduled S&K for the day after. They arrived when they said they would. They placed tarps around the house and over the plants. (Not a single plant was damaged) A very polite crew. Lots of banging and hammering. They replaced two pieces of roof plywood. After that they put down the roofing felt - or tar paper - and then started on the roof. Our roof is very complicated with gables, peaks and valleys, and different levels, They finished almost all of it in one day. They came back the next day (Saturday) for the small section they couldn't get to before the 6 pm thunderstorm. It looks great. I think the temperature in the attic has dropped.

Another company told us that our roof needed to be replaced. This other company also told us that we needed gutter replacement, although we have had no problems in 23 years in the home. Shane from S and K looked at the roof and told us that it has architectural shingles with a 30 year life and we should look at replacement again in 4-5 years, since the home is 23 years old. Asked about the gutters, his reply was not to pay to correct something that is not a problem. He recommended that we get a gutter tuneup to get a cleanout and to firmly attach a few loose places. We went with the gutter company he recommended and got the work done for only $120. Whenever a company tells you that you don't need something they sell, I have confidence in them. They have given us a quote to replace two decorative windows that major window companies would not do as the job is too small.

This is the second time I have used S&K Roofing. They always do a great job. High quality work. They were also competitively priced for the work. They also made sure that they documented (took photos of) any plywood that needed to be replaced under the shingles, which was appreciated.

Very professional. I wish I could of used them but the insurance company picked the roofer. They were very educated in their field and explained everything to me step by step. Great company.

I called their office, got someone to answer my call and setup an appointment within a couple of hours. Dana called me at 1130am, and came by my house at 1215pm. He was friendly, professional, and honest. As it turns out, all is well, and he did not try to sell me a bill of goods. I would most definitely call them again if and when I need help with roofing, siding or windows!

S&K was responsive and got the work done when they said it would be done when they said they would do it. Very pleased and impressed with their work.

They had done some repairs 2 years ago, and since my roof is over 20 years old I like to keep an eye on things. The estimator called me after looking at my roof , and said my roof needed nothing. I felt like this is an honest company. The guy knows my roof is old, but never tried to sell me anything. He said I still have 3 to 5 years left on it ,and hoped I would call them when I am ready to replace it. You can bet I will when the time comes.

Excellent. I was concerned the price was somewhat higher than other bids but they did such an amazing job that I'm 100% satisfied. Well worth the price. They were always on time. They called me and kept me informed at every step. The day of the job the crew showed up on time and went right to work.... and they worked hard. It was a tough job on a cold day. The crew had a good attitude and the foreman was professional and informative. They did excellent quality work that went above and beyond my expectations. I recommend you hire S&K Roofing. I just upgraded all scores to an "A" ... I must have mistakenly clicked on a "C" for Professionalism. My error. These guys are all around the best.

They were very prompt and professional from the initial visit to assess the leak in my roof, to providing an estimate and scheduling the work. Even though the job was relatively small I always got prompt attention and phone calls returned. Although I knew my roof was old and that was mentioned during the first visit, I did not feel pressured to replace the entire roof immediately. I definitely will call them for the next job and recommend them highly.

S&K Roofing worked with us to get all of the repairs accomplished during January/February/March in between the snows. We needed to have a crew return to move a downspout that was in the way of the track of a large door however they did so without question. I'm very happy with the level of service and follow-up we received from the office. Thanks, again.

Crew showed up on time and got right to work. They worked fast & efficient and finished up the same day. Roof looks great. My only complaint is with clean up. After they left, I found about a dozen staples in the driveway. I realize it's impossible for them to get them all, but these were in plain site. I've found more in the yard in the past few weeks. Other than that, I'm happy with their work and the end result.

Came out, called and gave me a resonable quote. Came back in two weeks to do the job. No mess/no issues. Never saw them, just contacted on angies list, got the quote, and a few weeks later I paid for the service over the phone. Will use again when I need to get my roof done.

The staff were great. They were pleasant, neat and efficient. They cleaned up after themselves.

They came by and showed us what our options were. When we were ready to get it done, they got the roofing done in 2 days. They pulled all the old shingles off and put new ones on. They even left us with the extras. We were very happy with them. They were very personable. They took the time to interact with us regarding our needs.

We had S&K install additional attic insulation, then they replaced our roof shingles and 3 skylights including some roof repairs. They did an excellent job on those so I then contracted with them to replace 4 old sliding glass doors in a sun room. Since we don't use 2 of the sliders as doors they recommended replacing those 2 with fixed pane windows plus awning windows at the bottom. The other 2 were replaced with new sliding doors. The new windows and doors are beautiful and much tighter and energy efficient than the old doors. S&K's prices are very competitive and they don't nickel & dime you. There were several items they could have charged extra for but didn't. A couple of neighbors had used S&K a number of years ago so I knew the name and recently a client used them for both a commercial property and also their own home. They were very happy with S&K and I have been also.
