Services done as requested but just seemed to move slow.

He was late. The curtain rods were being installed in plaster, which I told them when I hired them. He wasn't prepared with the right supplies, but fudged together things to get two curtain rods hung. He hung the wrong rod and had to take it down and start over. He made a bunch of marks and had to touch things up with paint. He said he had a problem with some plaster on the wall with the second rod. It took him over five hours to put up two rods. He never got around to the other three. I paid $350!!! He was a very never person, but I won't be hiring them again.

Provider did a great job in a good time. Easy to schedule and responsive office.

Great customer service and knowledgeable craftsman. They actually answer the phone and provide good info. Will be using them again for sure.

In the beginning of my search for a carpenter, my husband & I reached out to at least 10 different companies. One of them responded, but when I detailed what needed done (the steps had to be customized because of a knee injury I have), he ended communication. The other eight never responded at all. Then I found Handyman Matters. Rose responded to my first email within 48 hours (probably less, but I can't remember the exact timing). She was absolutely wonderful and answered all of my questions. Being first-time homeowners & already putting a lot of money into the house to make it what we wanted, she suggested buying our own supplies to save some cash. We scheduled the first appointment to have someone come out & give me a list on 7/24. Sam arrived on time and was very thorough. He gave me a list & made sure I understood everything that we needed. I was paying for an hour of service, which was their minimum, and he installed a deadbolt onto our front door that my husband was having difficulty doing himself. On the day of install, Sam arrived on time & worked tirelessly. Due to my knee injury, we needed the stairs done in one day. He allowed my husband to help him throughout the process, which was exciting. He answered any and all questions my husband had & gave him a lot of new, useful information. They weren't quite able to finish in the 8 hours he was scheduled for, but he left it so that my husband was able to put the finishing touches on. This company and the two people I have dealt with were absolutely wonderful. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is in search of a handyman/carpenter. We plan to use them again for other repairs that will need to be made.

They were good. They did quality work. They do what they say. They were reasonable. They have excellent quality.

The handyman arrived on time, got right to work, and did a very professional job. I would be happy to use this service again.

I needed a portion of the eaves on my house repaired. I called Handyman Matters and I explained what needed to be done. He did tell me that there would be a charge. The gentleman I spoke with seemed confident that he could have someone perform the work that I described. When the repairman arrived he thought he was supposed to repair window casings. I explained to him that was not correct and showed him what needed to be done. He took a look and said it was more of a roofing job than a handyman job and it would take him longer than the prescribed time. That would have been OK if I hadn't then had to pay $128.00 for him to tell me that. What is it with these companies that no longer provide free estimates. I could see paying $50 since he wasn't there for more than 15 minutes. Also, this was explained over the phone. Shouldn't they at least have sent an e-mail detailing the charges? I wasted a day off from work and money that I would have rather spent getting the repairs done, I would neither recommend nor consider using them again.

Making appointment was easy, handyman came right on time, started work right away, was very knowlegable, for example he knew about supporting columns and he even found us a great outdoor siding cleaner, found the most efficient way to do the work, was very fast , was very professional and the front of the house looks great! Excellent work and we will use this service in the future for the many projects we have around the house!

Comments updated: A response from Brian (the owner), advised he would call and resolve this matter. To date I have not received a call and a credit has NOT been given. So much for professionalism. In addition, the newly installed lock is having a bit of trouble and a hole drilled to manually lock the gate was drilled incorrectly. I admit, because I was focused on the lock being installed, I failed to notice the hole had been drilled in the wrong place. I would not recommend this company. Original comments: Khan was very punctual and courteous. He seemed very knowledgeable and explained what he could do to repair my gate. The fence itself is in very good condition however, the gate was off it's hinges and needed to be rehung. A latch also needed to be attached so the gate would lock properly. Although Khan fixed the gate, he did not clean up once he was done. Another complaint was the overall price. HandymanMatters charges a $128 for the first hour of service. That includes $88 for first hour, and a $40 service charge. $88 a hour is a little pricey so I requested to have a $25 coupon that was on their site applied to my total. I spoke with Brian and Rose who advised the credit would be applied, making my total charges $191. I waited for an amended charge however the credit was not applied, and my credit card was charged $216. Unfortuntely, I would not use this provider again and would not recommend their services.

I requested a quote from the Handyman Matters website about a problem I was having with my dryer. The clothes would take a VERY long time to get dry so I assumed the vent was clogged. I also needed to have a cracked drain pan replaced for my washing machine. My washer/dryer are stacked in a pretty small space, so this was no easy task. Rosemarie responded to my request within the hour and asked that I call to provide additional information. She was very upfront about the pricing, she also mentioned a special they had that was $350 for 4 hours. She even suggested buying supplies in advanced so that I wouldn't be charged for the time it took to go to the store. I ordered the parts I needed online and scheduled the service for early the next week (after the parts were delivered) Chuck arrived on time and was very professional. I had most of the supplies we needed so we wouldn't have to run to the store to get anything. When he removed the washer and dryer from the laundry room, he noticed the lint was clogging the dryer duct. He cleaned the duct and then proceeded to install the new drain pan. He made an access panel so we would be able to turn off the water to the washing machine if a hose were to break, and so we could make the connection for the dryer duct. He then reinstalled the washer and dryer and connected the new rigid metal duct. The whole job was around 3 hours and he was working the whole time. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with the work. I will definitely use them again in the future.

Scott was perfect. He called before coming over and worked hard to ensure each item was not only done, but done properly. He was very personable and hardworking. Would highly recommend.

How refreshing to call a company and a live person picks up the phone. Rosemarie was helpful and knowledgeable, and accommodating to my too many scheduling changes. Handyman Will appeared on time and fixed the door frame completely. He made it good as new and cleaned up beautifully.

My experience worked out fine. I was very satisfied with them. They were prompt and they did what I asked. There was one person here doing the work.

Rose in the office was very helpful explaining the process and scheduling the work. They could not come as soon as I would have liked but part of the reason is they needed to send two guys. There was a cancellation so they were able to come a little earlier, within about 1 week. Scott and Chuck arrived on time (early) and were very friendly and professional. I had asked for new concrete steps as well as the gutter repair. They told me it would be too cold to cast the concrete steps, which was disappointing because that was my main reason for the call. But, they had ideas for me to do it a different way quickly by myself, and Rose sent me a whole list of options within a day. At that point they didn't care if they got the work from me or not, they just wanted to be helpful and thorough. The guys even bought some of the materials I would need while picking up supplies for the gutter. The gutter work was done very well and Rose continued to follow up on the step issue until I was satisfied. I will definitely call them the next time I have any issue with my house - big or small.

Came sharp by 8 AM and was on his cell phone for 13 minutes. A bit slow but very professional and dragged it to round up for 3 hrs. He charged us for the time he was on his cell phone. They have a service charge of $40 in addition to the hourly rate. Ummmm in retrospect could have got it done by the builder for less than $200..... well, you learn :)

They ended not being able to move the furniture, and knocked a large hole in my stairwell wall. They did not offer any apologies or refunds.

Courteous and professional. Prompt and professional. Great craftsmanship. Reasonable hourly rate and efficient use of time. Could not be more pleased.

Called to confirm Tech's name & arrival time. Tech left very briefly to purchase hardware and still finished the jobs in approx. 1 1/2 hours. Very professional, right down to boot covers for walking in the home.

Disappointed they don't offer a free estimate for their service so I could compare prices.

I contacted Handyman Matters and they were able to send someone to my home the very same day. The gentleman that came to my house was very knowledgeable and understood exactly what I wanted. He followed me to Home Depot and took me to the section of the store where they sold closet doors and assisted me with my selection. He then picked up the materials and followed my back to my home and installed the doors. He was very efficient and cleaned up after he was finished. He was a very nice man and the work he did was excellent. I absolutely would not hesitate to use this Contractor again in the future. I was very satisfied.

They will do whatever odd job you need done. They did a great job installing the dishwasher. Very professional and creative.

I purchased a replacement sink for my kitchen since the existing unit interior bottom surface had failed and was rough and stained. The faucet was working but the dish sprayer attachment though-hole threaded flange had also failed. I bought my sink and faucet online and had a good experience there too but that is beyond the scope of this review. Bottom line, I had purchased a 33x22 Kohler Riverby cast iron/porcelain enameled sink that weighs 125 lbs., and a Kohler deluxe faucet with built in retractable sprayer head. I had scheduled a plumbing company a week prior to come early Friday morning to do the installation. I provided great detail what had to be done. I am experienced in home improvements and understood the issues they would face. To make a long story short, the company sent one plumber instead of two (125 lb. sink). When he arrived 5 hours late, he immediately said he didn't know what the job entailed and wasn't prepared to remove install a sink, that was a different crew. I cancelled the job on the spot. I then set about to locate another plumbing/kitchen remodeling company. to schedule another attempt. When I called Handyman Matters, their office rep, Rose, was super friendly, listened to my tale of woe and listened to my job description. She asked a few more pertinent questions, gave me their standard rates (which I think are very fair; we've seen higher and lower rates), then asked to call me back after she contacted her techs for scheduling. When she did call back, (it was now about 2:30pm Friday afternoon, she advised that their multi-skilled tech Will was on the way! I couldn't believe it. Sure enough Will showed about 1/2 hour later, walked in introduced himself, and immediately went to work. I showed him the sink and faucet, the island where the work was to take place, and he gathered his tools and went to work. I assisted Will to lift the sink as I had decided to do to offset additional labor. He was most grateful. He worked deliberately but not slowly for 4 hours plus. He removed the old sink without damaging the laminate counter top, he cleaned off the counter and guided me in helping him prepare the new sink then carefully lower it into the opening to set it on a bead of silicone caulk. He was quite fastidious in cleaning up every step as he worked. He ran into difficulty getting the (adjacent) dishwasher air gap drain hose re-routed to the disposal outlet (the hose was too stiff to make the required curvature without kinking but he was finally successful. He then realized the drain piping had to be rebuilt due to the disposal and drain being on the right side of the sink whereas it had been on the left side before. After a quick run to to local HD for parts, he as back and finished up in no time at all. He was very persistent to test the connections under water and pressure for leaks, found one behind the disposal outlet nipple, and fixed it. He re-tested and the second time was a charm. My wife came home about two hours before he finished and she was very impressed by Will's affable nature, his professionalism, and attention to doing a first rate job. I'd rate them AAA if the form provided that option. We recommend Handyman Matters Columbia MD to anyone seeking this kind of service. We are so impressed with this company's can-do attitude and responsiveness that we have already asked Will to send Brian back to quote and schedule replacing our master bath shower stall.

The siding was older and no longer made, and they did find some for me that matched.
