The company did call me and have to reschedule the original date, but worked with me to find a date that would fit my schedule. The gentleman was prompt and professional. I had a long list and a 4-hour deal. While I would have wished that more items from the list had gotten finished, I fully believe that all the work that was done was completed quickly and done very well. Realistically, my lengthy (2 page) list will probably take several visits to complete. I was very pleased that the highest priority items were completed in the first visit. I do plan to use the company again. It's true that you get what you pay for. While this wasn't the lowest-priced company or deal available, I did get quality work. Considering the value of a home and the length of time the work will be visible, I think it was a very good value, and the company was very easy to work with.

Leaky pipe is the only thing that got fixed properly. The touch up paint job was so bad that it stands out. Painting was done in multiple strokes in various directions that causes it to stand out. After the first visit to do the paint touch up when i noticed that the paint job was so bad i called again hoping that they would stand by their work and get it fixed without charging me but that was not the case. If they cannot do proper paint job they should not take up the job. Also when the person came the second time he said he was late because he stopped by home depot or something to buy brush, drop cloth, tray etc but when asked for receipt he would not give me and said i had to speak to the office and he said he would also let them know about it. I never got the receipt even after calling the office and during the call was told that they have a 40% markup on materials. I have issues with this. If a material is needed for a job done in my house shouldnt i be asked if i want to buy and keep or allow them to buy and if something is bought shouldnt that material be left in my house since i paid for it. I was never informed before materials were purchased that i would be charged a 40% premium on it if that was the case i would have bought them myself. I think its misleading business practice to just go out and buy materials without even asking me and charge me 40% for it and not provide me receipt. Overall i am neither satisfied with all of the job done nor the company.

They are rated A on Angie's List and they've performed that way for me. I've been very happy with everybody. He's always showing up on time, he's always being very polite and he's an all around very nice person. He's competent and we've used him a number of times.

It went well. He was very knowledgeable

He had a difficult time putting back the window after installing the window screen and damaged our wall around the window. He left many dents and chips on the wall. Although he replaced the post light sensor, he didn't fix the problem. Regarding the poor quality of his work, I decided not to have him repair the door locks. When I asked if I still need to pay the full price regarding both issues, he became outrageous and unprofessional. He even said that the damage he made to our wall was a minor problem and our house had more big problems. Their customer service representative on the phone asked me to pay the full price first ($396) and said that if the post light did not work the next day, they would refund me. I paid the full price on that day. It turned out that the post light problem was not fixed. After exchanging a few emails and calls with their representative, they sent over another handyman, who is very nice, to fill the holes in the wall and painted the damaged area. They issued a $10 refund for the unfixed post light.

Very well. The owner did the work. He was punctual, professional, and helpful. He was so fast that he did more work than we expected. Everything he did was well done, except for a connection problem to a light bulb in a ceiling fan fixture that initially was repaired, but did not work a few days later. It may not have been repairable permanently and will need to be replaced. He was easy to work with and explained what he was doing when asked. I like to learn from the professionals. This was the best and cost effective handyman service I have used.

It went very well. This is the 3rd time I've used Handyman Matters. They do good work, but they are a little pricey.

I've used this company since before I joined Angie's List. They've been able to do the impossible, and I've been really happy with their service.

Called this company and asked for a finish carpenter do install crown molding on my kitchen cabinets. Needed him to be skilled because it was custom-order molding. Gentleman answered the phone and told me he had just the guy for the job. He sounded confident so I agreed and scheduled the appointment for later in the week and the worker showed up on time. I think I agreed to pay $80/hour. The good: the handyman was on time, got to work right away and worked diligently when he was inside working. The job went longer than he expected and he cut a few bucks off the quoted price for the second half of the day. The bad: Even though I was paying by the hour, the handyman took breaks to smoke and start his car up. He said there was something wrong with his car. Then, the craftsmanship was amateur. The corners and seams of the crown molding were not aligned neatly. The custom molding was beige in color and he tried to fill in gaps with white caulk. On a finished wood panel that I asked him to install, he cut it a little too big for the space. Instead of cutting it again or sanding it down he hammered it in to place for several minutes. I was watching him thinking, "what is he doing?" It was hammered with so much force he caused some of the other molding to pop off. Then after he left, I took a look at the piece and it was ruined. He had hammered the finished edge so hard, the corner had split open. Additionally, he installed shoe molding in some places, but forgot others. Caulked the ceiling joint in some places but not others. Lastly, a couple weeks after the job, one of the long runs of crown molding detached from the cabinets. That's when I knew I had to call someone fix it. Follow up: I called Handyman Matters today (less than one month later) and asked if they would send their best carpenter out to reattach the piece of crown molding that came off. I told them I was not interested in the same guy that installed it. The woman on the phone said that they could send the same guy out. I stressed that I wanted someone better and offered to send pictures of his work. She agreed to accept pictures but that any decision to send another carpenter out would be an exception only the owner could make. I emailed 4 or 5 pictures to the woman, including the crown molding coming unattached from the cabinet. Never heard back.

Two of my exterior doors on the home needed adjustments due to the natural settlement of the house. First, I was pleased that I called and spoke with a professional in the office who was able to immediately understand the issue that I described and quickly assign the job to an available craftsman. Also, she gave me an overview of how the company operates with regards to labor charges etc. The best thing was that I was able to get someone out to fix my doors the same day! The craftsman, Chuck, called in advance and arrived within 10 minutes of that call. He was very professional, quickly assessed the problem with the front door and garage exterior door. I could tell that he was knowledgable about making the needed repairs. He cleaned up after the work and both of my doors are adjusted so that they close and latch perfectly. I even got a better understanding of the other services that they provide and will surely keep them on the call back list.

Handyman was on time, worked steadily and thoroughly and was very courteous. A relief to get my to do list reduced. Will schedule again to do more tasks.

The technician arrived on time, assessed the problem and begin repairing. He did this in a timely manner

Day One: Khan arrived on time, assessed the windows on the garage, consulted with me, then went to Home Depot for supplies. He took off the old, rotting window frames, put up new wood frames, and painted them (I had the paint on hand.) This took him a couple of hours, then he patched a hole in the dry wall of one of our bathrooms, painted a garage light fixture, checked our roof on the main house for the source of a leak (which he found), caulked the tiny nail hole, lubricated the tracks on two sliding closet doors (there was a minor mishap with the lubricant spilling, but I suspect it was a flaw in the container--which I provided), hung some pictures, and inspected the broken hinges one of our kitchen cabinet doors. Day Two: Khan arrived a bit late (he had to pick up a couple of replacement hinges for the a forementioned cabinet, and some paint to match the faded paint in the bathroom where he had patched the hole.) He sealed around the garage windows, added a second coat of paint, painted the patched drywall, touched up around some new light fixtures we'd installed earlier, and replaced the hinges on two kitchen cabinets--and took the time to show me how to adjust the way they hung so that if they ever became crooked, we could adjust them ourselves. All in all, I was very happy with Khan's expertise and professionalism, and would be very happy wot work with him again.

I easily scheduled an appointment for the following day. Will did a nice job on the jobs. The work took longer than I expected (10.25 hours over 3 days). Will made several errors on billing and corrected the mistakes when I pointed them out.

Handyman Matters responded to my email the same day I sent it and I talked to them telephonically on 11 Nov. At that time we agreed that the would do the work on th 14th and that they would furnish the caulking. The morning of the 14th, Scott called and asked whether I would prefer clear or white caulking, I asked for clear and he showed up punctually, introduced himself and inquired as to any special requirements or instructions I might have. He subsequently proceeded to caulk the windows. He worked quickly, quietly and professionally. After he completed caulking the windows, he returned to handle the paperwork and inquired if there was any other work that I would like him to do. I was also telephonically contacted by Handyman Matters on 3 Dec, to follow-up on the work and assure that I was satisfied with their work. Throughout this process, I was impressed with the responsiveness and professionalism of Handyman Matters and their personnel. I will definitely use them again should an occasion arise and would heartily recommend them to anybody requiring handyman services.

He showed up on time and spoke with me about what service we wanted performed. He then went to Home Depot to purchase the required materials. He was back quickly and performed the job quickly with no interruptions. I was extremely happy with the service and have recommended Handyman Matters to others.

Chuck, the handyman, was very impressive. He arrived on time, had ladders and all tools he needed, was both knowledgeable and polite as he worked quickly and efficiently. He represented the company well, made a very good impression. We will use his services again.

We have run into this problem with other "Handyman" companies, but it was a problem with this company as well. They will not send someone out to do an estimate, unless it is on the clock and we pay for it. If you have them come to do any work, everything is on the clock, from the tech taking his tools and materials off the truck to sweeping up and putting away drop cloths at the end. If the tech has to go to Lowe's or Home Depot to get anything, it is on the clock and you pay for that. We probably have $2000-3000 in repairs and improvements to do. Without an estimate and a clear plan of what we will do, and when, and how we will pay for it, to take this all on at one go is difficult for us. I suspect it would be for some other people as well. Handyman Matters is not the only company that works this way, but we do not plan to work with the others either. If a company will not give us an estimate in advance, we will not work with them. It is just that simple. We also have never before been asked to pay for a worker to unload his truck or clean up after himself. We do not plan to start doing that now.

Scott did most of the work and he did a very poor job. The walls were poorly finished and had to be re-sanded and re-painted. I have to hire someone else to return and paint the walls. Three of the floor tiles were raised about a quarter of an inch and when I told him about it he got angry and yelled at me. The company sent someone else to replace the three tiles and sand the walls but they didn't re-paint the walls. I will have to hire someone to paint the walls. They left grout all over the floor tiles which I had to clean up myself. It is difficult to clean up grout after it has dried. They told me it just takes a little elbow grease to clean it up. I had to buy a special acid cleaner made especially for cleaning up dried grout and it was difficult to get the grout off the tiles.

They responded quickly and performed the work in a timely manner. The pricing was high however the communication with the technician was very good.

It was a rush situation since we were scheduled to have the carpeting installed the next day. We called Handyman Matters of Columbia when another company we called said they couldn't make it out for several days. Handyman Matters responded immediately and fit us in. The man that came was on time and very competent. We were very pleased with his manner and his work. The work was done quickly and well.

The handyman who came out was a little bit late, but called to let me know he was stuck in traffic and would be about 10 minutes late, which was not an issue. He quickly assessed the issue with the water getting in through the bay window and repaired it, then cleaned out the gutters. It took about 45 minutes.

They've done several different repair jobs over the past year or so, always with great results. They always respond promptly, answer questions, do the job right.
