MAYBE WE'LL PREVENT SOMEONE FROM HAVING SOMEONE **** ON THEIR FLOOR**** They sent a guy with a prior rape of a minor indictment, assault with intent to murder indictment, and a burglary indictment to my house to install my floors. Their installers **** on my bathroom floor and drank my alcohol! Now that I've got your attention, please read this full review for the full story, which I assure you is worse than you're already thinking. I contacted several flooring companies, and received estimates from each of them. Shore Side was in the middle of the pack, but my sales person Lou seemed to have a lot of knowledge about carpets, so I decided to go forward with them. I was told that they would send me an invoice for half the total cost (total cost about $15K). This was the first inconsistency, as they sent me an invoice for the full amount. I paid them the money, thinking this was a well run family business. Lou scheduled my floors and told me he had the installer he wanted to use picked out & scheduled. The next inconsistency is when the scheduling person called me and said she was ready to schedule my install. I told her Lou had someone scheduled already and she responded by saying she didn't know who that would be as they're all booked up. I text Lou and informed him of my conversation with their scheduler. Lou said,, "I'm not sure where the miscommunication came in too but I have someone set up for your job on September 10th and his name is Oscar and it's all scheduled I think Caitlin had the wrong installer in mind that's why she called you prematurely so you're all set. This should have been a red flag, but again they're great sales people, and I was convinced they knew what they were doing. They touted all these great google reviews, which are impressive until you dig in and see others that are terrible. Anyway..... the installers come out on Friday. They rip up carpet, and are looking like they're just doing their thing. My wife and I ran to the store since we have 4 kids and didn't want them running in the house. During this time, Oscar called me. My wife speaks Spanish, so I let her speak with him. He was asking for food places, and we told him we'd bring him food as a nice gesture for them working hard. We came home and Oscar was gone, but his helper was still in the house. Oscar came back a short time later. I left for work, and my wife and children stayed home. They finished for the day and all things seemed normal. The next day, Oscar and 2 helpers came. They began working as normal. We spoke with them and told them we'd buy them dinner since we didn't get to do it the day prior. We ordered them pizzas and a couple 2 liters. **** At this point, Oscar tells my wife that they didn't send the molding he needs. He then tells her that he's not coming back out to put molding down because he's to busy. And if we want him to come back to put the molding down it's gonna cost a lot of money. He then asked me to go to Home Depot to look for the molding so he could finish the job. As odd as it was, I text Lou and told him I wouldn't mind looking for it if it saved the trouble for everyone. Lou said that was fine, so off to Dover we went. While in Dover, I had a roofing contractor come by the house to measure for a new roof (Relevant later). We came home and I noticed our barn doors were open. They were 100% closed when we left. We walked inside the house. My wife went into the bathroom, and then came back out & informed me that there was feces on the floor and the toilet seat. Literally **** on my floor. We started looking around and saw a bunch of issues with the quality of the install. We then noticed they left blood on our floors, and multiple razor blades laying around. We then noticed a Cut Water Margarita laying on the island. My wife and I thought they must have grabbed it from the refrigerator thinking it was a drink, and then put it down when they realized it was alcohol. We were WRONG. I walked outside and found an empty can of Cut Water Margarita (they've been in the fridge for 6 months cause I thought they were gross and no one at my house drinks them). Clearly, Oscar or his helpers were drinking on the job in my house. I guess they wanted to celebrate the ****** work they did. I walked out to my dumpster (our trash service on the eastern shore that we pay for). I found that they dumped several bags of trash from the install, along with carpet rolls in my dumpster, filling it up. They didn't have permission to use out dumpster, drink alcohol, or **** on our floor (as obvious as that sounds). I talked to Lou, who told me that someone would call me in the morning. Caitlin called me the next morning and told me that the owners were returning from out of town, and they would call me the next day. I told her that response was unacceptable, and I wanted them to call me immediately. I spoke with one owner a short time later and explained everything I had found up until this point. He told me he saw the pictures and he said several times, "it looks like they rushed" and "we'll take care of it". Not once during this conversation did he say the installers did a bad job or that they were in the wrong. He made excuses saying maybe they didn't know it wasn't ok to take the alcohol. Or maybe they didn't know they couldn't use the dumpster, and they just saw an easy way to do it. And my favorite, it's immature what they did in your bathroom, but maybe they ate something bad. I asked him if he did any type of public record background checks on any of the people he sent to my house. He only had the name of Oscar, and said he went by his reputation. And that he doesn't do checks of anyone because he didn't know it was necessary. He was able to provide my with Oscar's full name Oscar Antonio Arteaga Luna. ****A quick check of public records (anyone can do this) showed indictments for Rape - 2nd Degree: Under Age Victim during one incident, and Assault - W/ Intent to Murder, burglary, and associated charges in another incident. They sent these people to my house where I have a 3 year old daughter and 3 boys under 8. Along with my wife, who was home alone with the children at one point with them. They weren't able to provide me any information on the two other guys that they sent to my house, and are relying on Oscar for that information. I spoke with my roofing contractor, and as a part of the hiring process explained that I didn't want any issues with sub contractors. Through that conversation, he told me he thought the people there were my friends. While he was there, he observed them sitting on my four wheelers and taking pictures. Again, when we came home, the barn door was open, meaning they went into the barn. There is absolutely no reason they went in there for any reason other than to see what we have that they can later steal. The sheriff's department has been notified and a report has been filed. After explaining that I want the floors gone and nothing else to do with their company, the owner tells me he'll speak with his attorney and handle it that way moving forward. So in closing, if you're looking for a company that does ****** work, doesn't do background checks on their contractors, and excuses their terrible behavior, these are your people. I'll be patiently waiting for Oscar and his friends to come to my house to steal the four wheelers and equipment they were checking out. Thanks Shore Side for being the shittiest contractors I've had the pleasure of working with. We'll let the attorneys handle it from here.....

Rosemary from Shore Side was very helpful with our selection of commercial grade carpet and tile. We were renovating our 2,000 sq ft office townhouse within a tight time frame. She assured me all along that it would get done and she was right. Their crew came in on the date promised and worked a very long day and installed it all in one day. We still had office furniture in each of the 8 offices and conference room and they worked around this. Great crew and we were very happy with our carpet, border and bathroom tile selection, quality and installation.

Shoreside Review Starting off with the positive, the quality of work performed by Shoreside was simply OUTSTANDING. We had about 1200 ft. sq. of red oak natural hardwood floors refinished and new installation of 430 ft. sq. In addition, we added new hardwood stairs with rug runner and new 58 oz. thick pile Mohawk Smart Strand carpet with the smart cushion (top of the line) all installed in upstairs bed rooms, closets and linen areas. I cannot say enough platitudes for Will, the hardwood guy and Jason, the carpet installer. These guys are the best their profession has to offer and Shoreside is fortunate to have them on the team. However, that all said this newer company had several missteps along the way which made this project frustrating and time consuming. Lou is their go-to sales rep in this family company. During the initial sales presentation, he suggested we use a matching prefinished wood for the dining/living room AND steps to match up with the refinished flooring in the adjacent rooms. All seems logical and would save a few hundred dollars in the process. However, he FAILED to mention, that the pre-finished floor color would not match the existing floors after the refinishing process (sand and poly). His concern was more about the bevel match vise color match. This was an important missed communication on the part of the sales rep as at no time did he mention that the colors would not be even close! As a result, when Will the installer arrived he immediately brought to our attention that the floor appearance between old and new would be very different and obvious. This outcome was completely unacceptable in our view. Why would the sales rep not advise and emphasize this important detail? We were now forced to have the new prefinished floors and steps sanded to bare wood and refinished similar to the original hardwood floors at an additional cost in both time and money, and off our budget. As it was their sales rep’s mistake, wouldn’t it be expected that Shoreside would be responsible for the extra cost? Nope. This extra work led to scheduling delays and cost us extra time in hotels and certainly the inconvenience of having the house in complete disarray for a longer period than planned. The delay was incurred due to having to sand and refinish in a two-step process vise a single step because of furniture positioning. Add to that, the carpet installation was unexpectedly delayed by two days because of transportation issues, I’m sure out of Shoreside’s control, but still very inconvenient (and costly) to us. I was able to relay my concerns to Vinnie, one of the owners and his partner. They were both very understanding, professional and accommodating, and tried to remain involved in the conclusion of the project also offering almost no pricing adjustments for the inconvenience and delays. My recommendations are: 1. The Sales reps need to do a better job of managing customer’s expectations. Explain the “goods and others” to the customer. Show the customer the results of the final product by example, and explain the pricing difference as related to the outcome. “This option produces this result and = this cost”, etc. 2. An Owner/senior project manager should be on site when the job starts or at least calling to verify everything is on track. To me, it’s important and necessary that the BIG boss is involved and always has a direct line for any problems. Show the “flag”, thank the customer for the business, develop a mutual trust and assurance that you have the customers best interest every step of the process. 3. Under Promise and Over deliver! Don’t rely on the timeline of a manufacture and build it into the project timeline, OR Build a bigger timing cushion into the project. Other competitors (whom I’ve interviewed) don’t schedule an install time until the product in their custody. Customer don’t care about whys, they care about results. 4. Read the contract. If it says the company will “remove sink” then make arrangements to have that task done. The customer should not have to find out during the install that the contractor can’t remove a sink. Again, minor point but it’s about attention to detail; company-management-sales-labor and customer all on the same page. 5. And lastly, as a final disappointing ending, the manager called to say that they would not complete one of our requested carpet runner bindings (without payment) after offering to bind “our remnants” as a courtesy gesture for their mistakes…really? And the offer was made by the higher ups. Thanks. While we cannot say enough positives about their subcontractors, we cannot even remotely recommend this company. For a small company wanting to establish themselves, they need to go back to the drawing board and learn what customer service is all about. Take your business to a company that values it.

Fantastic job! Outcome exceeded expectations on white oak original flooring. Kept natural finish and went with 3 coats of oil-based poly. Done in 3 days.

As I said the oak stained hardwood floors turned out wonderful and new carpet recently installed seems a good choice. Lou (owner/service manger) will work with you on pricing and selection. All in all I highly recommend Shore Side Carpet if you need flooring work done in your home or business.

CROOKS!!! NEVER HIRE THEM!! they stole our deposit and never delivered and installed the carpeting!!

Not knowing who to call to have my family room hardwood floors sanded and refinished, I used the internet to locate a company close to home. I filled out a request for service form found on their website thinking that it would be days before getting a response. Much to my surprise, they called me within 30 minutes. The next day I met with the owner and signed the contract for the work to be done. The workers were prompt, polite and did everything discussed on the contract within the stated time frame. They moved all of the furniture and reset the room when they finished. The floors look like they are new and make the room look so beautiful. I highly recommend Shore Side to anyone needing floors or refinishing. Their service, work and commitment are the best.

Great. They came out right away to give us an estimate (which was reasonable), did the work promptly and well, and came back and (for no charge) put on another coat of polyurethane to hide some scratches that we accidentally put in the newly installed wood. We were delighted with their work and highly recommend them. (We dealt with Lou, who was terrific.)

I read the reviews on Angie's list and decided to give Shore Side a call. Lou was very quick to respond and came right out to look a the project. He had a proposal to me the next day with a few options. We agreed on the work to be done and that they could start the following week. The team that did the work was excellent. They communicated what was going to be done and when. If there were questions, they were quick to ask for clarifications. The existing floors were repaired as necessary, sanded, stained and then coated with poly. The rooms that had carpeting required first removing the underlayment. Then new hardwood was installed, sanded, stained and coated. The final results were beautiful. Everything matches. We still have a couple of rooms that might need flooring in the future. I will call Shore Side first. I would highly recommend this company for your flooring needs.

Ryan offered to come out and provide a quote the very next day. He called about an hour before arriving and asked me about the type of carpet I was looking for and knew that I wanted it done as soon as possible. He stopped at the warehouse to check on which carpet selections were available and brought those samples along with the others. He was very personable, professional, quickly measured the house and helped me pick out the carpet that best matched the paint. The installation crew arrived on time and went to work right away... When I returned, the house looked awesome! Everything was perfectly done. And, within just a few days! I will call this company again for my new place! Excellent service and experience.

Thought they did an adequate job. The workers were not really nice and courteous to myself and my home. It would have been better if they would have finished the job.

I was pleased, I don't have any complaints. I compared with other companies, and they were slightly cheaper. The quality of work was very good. They were here right on time. The guy who came in and gave the estimate and showed me the carpeting was really quite good and very professional. I have recommended them. They were efficient and had a good price.

They did a great job . From dealing with the Salesman (Lou) to the job being completed. It couldn't have been easier to work with them. Had it all done in 2 days. The installers were very nice and easy to deal with. I am going to have them do 2 more bathrooms. I will definitely use Shore Side again.

Extremely well! Since the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted almost like as if we were family. The service was exceptional, they communicated with me using my preferred method of contact, they followed up promptly, and used exceptional quality grade material. They spent time educating me regarding which carpeting would suit my needs and the information was extremely valuable. I was initially recommended to use shoreside by several neighbors who had services performed by them. Although each neighbor had stated that they were great, I didn't expect the amount of significant personalized service that I received. I will never need to shop around for another company for flooring.

Buying quality carpet at a reasonable price and having it installed perfectly is not a simple undertaking, especially for the first time buyer. With so many unknowns with carpet manufacturers, you need a company that will provide professional service and will stand by the product if an unexpected problem occurs. Based on my experience, I believe that Shore Side Carpet & Flooring will help with any unexpected problem in the future. My representative was Lou who is very professional, courteous, patient, and punctual. When I changed my mind at the last minute about the desired width of carpet, to avoid putting seams in high traffic areas, he worked with me in a fair and patient manner. And the installers were likewise very professional and on time (imagine that!). I have already recommended them to a close friend.

From the initial contact, through the whole estimate process, to the final installation Shore Side was unbelievable. There responsiveness, attention to detail and customer service was top notch. The salesman (Lou) went above and beyond in brining samples out to our current house, walking us through the hardwood and carpet selection, and finally getting us a price that was very competitive with the other companies we had researched. Lou and Shore Side also worked to accommodate our tight timeline and had the work completed on time as promised. I have already recommended Shore Side to our new neighbors and would work with them again in a heart beat. If you are looking for excellent customer service, professional installation, and fair pricing you can't go wrong with Shore Side.

I would recommend this provider to anyone within driving distance. DO NOT USE a big box store as they are much more expensive. Over all we were very pleased.

I have been in the construction business all my life (many years) and this contractor did exactly what they said they would do and did it on time. The work and the care of the surrounding areas of the house was better than any other flooring contractor I have worked with. After the the installation they were very interested in any problems that may have occurred. I was happy to report that there were none that were caused by them. I did ask them to come back to resolve a floor squeak issue (not their problem) which they did. It was a very good job at a very good price with excellent customer service.

Everything went fantastic start to finish. I was referred to Shoreline by someone I used to work with, and they had a great experience. These guys were super professional. Came out with lots of samples, and different qualities of carpeting. The pricing was great, and the level of service was much greater then what I am used to with the big box stores. They kept me up to date on all the details, and when the installers were going to be just 5 minutes behind, I got a phone call a half hour in advance letting me know and apologizing. Highly Recommend these guys.

We had an excellent experience with Shore Side Carpet and Flooring. Ryan came out and did a detailed and thorough estimate, and gave us a price during our meeting. He helped us decide on a plan that would maximize the look of our floors, while also working within our budget. Of the estimates we received, we chose Shore Side based on price, as well as responsiveness and flexibility. They were very willing to work with our schedule to set up a convenient time to get our projects done. Both jobs we had scheduled (hardwood refinishing and carpet replacement), were completed in a timely and efficient manner. Most importantly, the floors looked fantastic when they were done! I highly recommend Shore Side for any of your flooring needs.

Lou was great! We stopped by on a Saturday, looked at some carpet samples, and were quoted a price that included removal and disposal, sales tax, and installation - nice all in price! Price was on target with other providers in the area. We confirmed the carpet on the next Tuesday and dropped of a deposit on Wednesday. Carpet was installed by Wednesday the week after - easy, no hassle, on time, and professional. Also, Lou helped us out by offering to replace some carpet in a utility closet with a scrap for no cost. Extremely grateful for that. I will definitely be going back to Shore Side next time we have any flooring needs.

Shore Side's representative Ryan came to our home to show and explain carpet samples, measure, and provide the cost estimate. Since the installation time frame was important, he called the carpet provider to verify that it was in stock. The installation was scheduled within a week, and the two installers came near the end of the two-hour window that Shore Side gave. Eight hours later, our new carpet was installed in a professional and courteous manner. The stairway was particularly challenging -- with two spindles per step -- but it looks great as do the hallway and bedrooms. The only disappointment was a minor one in cleanup -- a trail of carpet fibers that weren't hard to sweep up afterward.

Excellent prompt service, fair price, professional and pleasant employees for sales and installation. They were more responsive than the other vendors we asked to submit a bid.
