Description of Work: Remodeled the master bedroom, master bath, master closet and a small bedroom into an exquisite master suite with a walk-in closet, gorgeous master bath with double vanity, wonderful shower and laundry room! They added recessed lighting in the kitchen and family room. Installed under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. Installed a ceiling fan in the family room. Remodeled a screened in porch to a three season sun room with large sliding windows, insulated walls/ceiling and ceiling fans. Redid the ceiling with wainscoting. Re-carpeted the basement and added a section of hardwood flooring. Extensive painting throughout the house. Added stone work to the front porch and sidewalk. Removed the old back sidewalk and installed pavers.

Description of Work: We have used Hollenczer for a number of different projects, from a kitchen remodelling job, to installation of a new front door, to construction of a stone patio and outdoor fireplace. Dave Hollenczer is responsible and reasonable in terms of work performed and pricing.

Description of Work: This company came out twice...once for an estimate on new roofing and secondly to repair a bad roof leaking around skylights. This was a brief fix and they charged nothing. On both occasions they were prompt and professional in their work.

Description of Work: I needed to have some repairs made to my house that was under contract to be sold in 2 weeks. I called David. Before I knew it I received a call from him that all work was completed. Without Hollenczer Construction my house would not have been sold. David made a very frustrating task so much easier. They are certainly the best.

Description of Work: I contacted Hollenczer because I needed a small repair done--quickly--to the ceiling in our downstairs. They replied quickly, apologized that they do not handle jobs that small, and gave me the number of a gentlemen in Annapolis, who was able to help us out. The price was a bit steep, but the work was done quickly and well. If I ever have larger drywall needs, I would not hesitate to contact either company!

Description of Work: SAVING MONEY I purchased a 2700 SF rancher to remodel then to live in. While speaking with a friend I was telling him about my project and that I was contemplating being my own (GC) General Contractor. My buddy tried to talk me out of the idea with concerns regarding dealing with subcontractors. He recently had a beautiful home built and he was very happy with his general contractor (Hollenczer Construction). He gave me their telephone number and recommended that I speak with them. So I called Hollenczer Construction and explained that I was contemplating being my own GC to do the work. They offered to meet me at my new home. They were very professional, knowledgeable and experienced. They offered to show me several jobs they performed in the community. I looked at their work and spoke with their clients. Everyone was very pleased and all of the work was top notch. I also met with two other GC’s to compare quality, workmanship, experience and credibility. Hollenczer Construction defiantly stood out above and beyond any of the other contractors that I met. I was impressed Hollenczer’s work quality, customer satisfaction, industry knowledge, experience and their resources. They also made very good suggestions that were helpful and improved our design. They advised me to be very selective and careful dealing with the construction trade if still wanted to take on the duty of GC. By the time my wife and I had finished with all of our ideas and changes, the new cost was substantially higher than the projected cost when we purchased the property. We went from 2700 S.F. to 3000 S.F, from 3 to 4 bedrooms, from 2 ½ to 3½ baths, new hardwood flooring everywhere, new crown and base moldings in every room, new kitchen with custom cabinets, granite countertops, and all high end appliances. All new plumbing fixtures, adding a full bath with soaking tub, custom shower, lots of Italian marble. The end result was that we were substantially over budget. I spoke with Hollenczer Construction again, and they quoted a fair and very reasonable price to do the job. Funds were tight and rather than cutting any of the projects, I decided to GC the job myself. Being a successful business owner the idea of taking on the project as the general contractor, and managing everything did not seem too difficult. I am a good communicator, I understand contracts and I certainly know how to manage people. At the time it made better sense for me to utilize my skills, and save money along the way. At the end of the job I fired the carpenter and the plumber for substandard performance. I had to pay a new plumber to rip out most of the work I already paid for, and redo it correctly. My bad experience was very similar with the carpentry. I was ready to file a lawsuit against a material supplier and my attorney had to get involved. Hollenczer Construction could have completed the entire job in less than 3 months. After dealing with all of the problems, and replacing bad subcontractors I was running low on funds because I had to pay twice because of substandard work. It took close to a year to finally complete the job. I spoke with Hollenczer Construction during all the problems I was having. They were unbelievable, very nice, and still gave me advice and help me to get out of the bind I had gotten myself into. The end result was I could have saved more than ($20,000.00) on the job if I gave it to Hollenczer. I also paid 9 months of mortgage ($22,000.00) payments on my house that I could not move in to. On top of that, I could have saved the rent that I paid ($16000.00) for 9 additional months. I wish I had used Hollenczer Construction I would have saved a total of more than ($58,000.00). Description of Work: Project: Add on to Master suite, completely renovate master bath and enlarge master closet. This started out great and ended up more like a bait and switch. After Hollenczer Construction did the walk through we showed them our existing plan (drawings) they asked what our budget was, we told them. Based on the existing plan they suggested we scale back the plan to get within our budget (they drew a rough drawing). We thought no one else had such a good idea so we proceeded, our mistake was telling them we would not bid this to any one else as we trusted them. Our architect revised the plan based on their direction and we supplied the new revised smaller plan (drawings) to Hollenczer Construction. They came back with a bid 23% higher than our budget with very little detail to what was provided... End result they declined our counter offer (reduce their price and provide more detail) even though they suggested we reduce the our overall foot print of our project to meet our budget. WATCH OUT, very unprofessional company!

Description of Work: Hollenczer Construction was hired to perform cosmetic and structural repairs to prepare a 30 year old house for sale. This included installing a new roof on the house and a shed. Siding repairs. Painting of the entire exterior and interior of the house and shed. Extensive drywall repairs. Replacement of doors and windows.Ceramic tile and carpet installation. Heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical repairs.

Description of Work: Hollenczer Construction performed two kitchen remodels for us. The company was very professional. On the first job they had a time period of two weeks to complete an entire kitchen. They accomplished that time constraint with no problems. They replaced the cabinets, floor, countertops, sink, appliances and performed all of the electrical and plumbing repairs. We picked out the countertops, appliances and flooring. Hollenczer Construction ordered and installed them. It was exactly what we asked for. While working when they ran across old or faulty wiring they called to let us know this was in need of replacement. They handled the replacement immediately. The second job was just as professional as the first. There was never any problems with his company. This job was no on such a time schedule, his company still worked very fast to complete our project. Again the job at finish had all trash removed and left our kitchen sparkling!

Description of Work: Dave's crew demolished our master bath, removing a built-in tiled shower and large soaking tub and entire tile floor. The flooring was replaced with vinyl, which is much more attractive and easier to maintain, and a modern modular shower unit was installed. Beadboard wainscoting was installed throughout, and a granite double-bowl vanity top with new faucets was installed. Dave stopped by at least once each day, and sometimes twice, to monitor progress. He was immediately responsive to phone calls and emails.

Description of Work: Hollenczer construction finished the basement of my single-family home. The finished areas include a large open recreation area, full bath, wet bar, and office. Permits were obtained and inspections handled correctly for all structural, electrical, and plumbing work. Wire conduit was also run throughout the recreation area for a future media room.
