J&G was a pleasure to work with through the entire process. They met with us at our home to provide an initial consultation and then returned several weeks later with the detailed plan. Greg provided guidance on how we could implement the landscape plan in phases. They communicated during every phase of the work and the production manager, Jim, oversaw the onsite work. We were very pleased with the outcome. Everything looks wonderful (even a year later). We will definitely use J&G again when we are ready to install the remaining landscape work.

The finished job is excellent and we are very pleased with the results. It gets a solid "A."

Jeff came out to give an estimate along with several other companies we found on Angie's list. Of all the people that came out, he was by far the most polite, reasonable, and intuitive person we met. He was extremely patient and listened carefully to what we wanted to achieve. We had a slight idea of what we wanted to do with the yard: we wanted a low-maintenance yard, with grass, that our 2 year old son could play in without us watching over him like a hawk. We also wanted to fix a drainage issue on the side yard. When Jeff stopped by he recommended some nice features, such as a play area for kid toys and a french drain for our back yard. We also told him our plans for replacing our existing fence (which we had already contracted another company for) and Jeff recommended moving our fence up the side of the house, something we hadn't thought of. This gave us a huge amount more space in the backyard and made it much more usable for us. During the estimate, Jeff took photos of our property with his iPad, and then sketched out his recommended plan for the yard on top of the photos and emailed them to us that week with the estimate. This really helped ensure we were talking about the same things and we could "see" his plan for our yard. The work was scheduled out, and they spent a few days doing the yard. Jim was the project manager. The team was clean, treated our property with respect, and cleaned up after themselves. Jim stopped by every day and also helped us through an issue with one of our neighbors. In addition to the yard work, the team also proactively mulched other plant beds we had that were not originally in the contract, so the whole yard looked awesome! When it was time to be done, we didn't have enough sprinklers to water our whole yard, so Jim went to the store and purchased some automatic timers/hoses for us and programmed them since we didn't have time to get them ourselves. He also stopped by every few days to check on the sod. When we went on vacation the following week, Jim continued to stop by our house, even though the job was done, to ensure that the sprinklers were still functioning so we wouldn't lose our lawn in the heat. After a good rain, we did have some remaining issues with the water (our neighbor does not have gutters and regraded their yard to dump rain into ours), and the team came back and adjusted the angle of the yard and re-sodded the small area after the adjustments. During the whole process, we received regular email updates from Greg on the status of the project and scheduling, and from Jim each night with an update of the work completed. Overall, this company really has their act together and were just all around pleasant people to work with. We will use them again next year on our next yard project.

We discovered we had severe mold and moisture issues in our basement 1 day after moving in. We contacted a number of basement waterproofing companies and finally decided to go with J&G. The initial evaluation was $75, but it was applied towards the total since we decided to use them. We was very impressed from the first consultation. Jeff was the only contractor who looked at our entire property to identify and resolve our issue. Other contractors came in like sales people and knew what they wanted to offer even before setting eyes on our specific situation. Jeff recommended replacing our current gutters with oversized gutters, which we will ultimately do and J&G doesn't even provide this service. He thinks this will solve a great deal of our issues. At any rate, J&G provided us a very detailed estimate. From the onset, Jeff was open to discussion regarding how the project would be tackled. We had identified specific materials we wanted to use and Jeff was extremely accommodating and willing to discuss the pro and cons of each. Jeff provided several iterations of the contract until we were in agreement for the work to be completed. I will admit, we are not the easiest client to work for. We are extremely picky and demand that work is completed to spec. In fact, during the 9 day job, I stayed home for 7 of those days to monitor progress. We've had numerous bad experiences with contractors, so we tend to stay highly involved in the process. Even though I was home, I feel J&G would have done a great job with managing their own quality control had I not been home. As the job progressed, some specs needed to be changed beyond the control of J&G. This is completely understandable as you discover issues that you didn't know existed prior to breaking ground. J&G was great about this - they always kept us in the loop and discussed their plan of attack. It was always a group effort and we could tell they truly respected our opinion and they wanted us to feel comfortable with what was happening. We also realized other work which we wanted to have completed while the ground was excavated and open. (# 11 above) Even though J&G did not initially quote this additional work, they were wonderful and understanding. They understood why it was important to us to have the work done while the area was accessible. They jumped right in and completed the extra work. Furthermore, when we explained the problem we had with an exterior drain tying into my sump pump, they quickly understood the concern we had every time it rained and our fear of losing power. (#10 above) This would cause our basement to flood. They sympathized with us and offered to correct the issue! This was a huge relief! Just to be clear, correcting the issue required J&G to cut out a portion of cement, relocate the drain box, and lay new cement. Certainly, this definitely showed that J&G cared about us as a customer and fixing the problems we had. They didn't want to leave without giving the total solution. With J&G, we feel like we received the total solution. Ultimately, we couldn't be more satisfied with J&G. They were extremely professional and they did an excellent job. The crew was spectacular. They arrived between 7 and 7:30 every day. The one day they had to arrive later, I received a call the night before giving me a heads up. The project lead, Jim was onsite everyday and was always assessable via phone at all other times. During the project, he displayed patience in explaining work and and taking on additional work to ensure I would not have any problems in the future. The finished yard was amazing. I wasn't home for the last day of work, but I was beside myself when I saw how spectacular the yard and finishings looked. The egress window well looked amazing and the grading of our small postage-stamp lot was perfect! Our neighbors even stopped by to comment! I wish I could upload pictures as I took them throughout the project. I definitely intend to use them again in the future. (retaining wall, relocating an existing rod iron fence in concrete retaining wall, and frankly, any other work that remotely falls in their expertise.)

The whole experience was excellent!! I had a short time frame that I wanted to get everything done, and they were able to fit me in. While the work done was great, and I am very pleased with my yard--I really appreciate the fact that communications was prompt and timely. I have dealt with a couple of landscaping companies that just don't call back!! I would highly recommend using this company for service and excellent job that they do.

We called Jeff up, he came right over, made suggestions about what would look good, and showed us digital photos of the shrubs he suggested. We had specific ideas in mind, and we were able to meld our requirements with his expertise for a very satisfactory outcome. I love what Jeff Potter of J&G Landscape Design has done for the front of my house. I?d like to express my appreciation for his excellent recommendations in the plan for the front of the house, his choice of shrubs, and his cooperation in planting them in July with a water setup that allows them to remain beautiful in September, even after a long hot summer. He?s easy to work with, and was very cooperative when I changed my mind midstream about several things, like deciding that the shrubs should be above a certain height. He was always able to find what I wanted and meet my demands in a most satisfactory way

Jeff did a great job. He called me within two days of my original email, and set up a time to stop by. When he came, he addressed all of my concerns, gave me great advice, and answered every question (no matter the ridiculousness) with patience. I would definitely contact him again with any concerns.

ng aWe hired JG after talking with three other landscapers. We were most impressed with Jeff's professionalism and his ability to translate our needs into a landscape design. The work was done in a timely and efficient manner. Though it was extremely hot on the day of the installation, the staff was there bright and early and put in a full day. When complete, the hedge and the walkway looked exactly the way Jeff had described. It looks great and we are very happy with the final product. I would recommend JG to anyone who hasn't done much landscaping work themselves and needs someone trustworthy and knowledgeable to guide them through the process.

Our experience with this company was excellent. For five years, we have been dealing with all kind of companies having serious problems with all of them (all problem eventually got corrected after a lot of effort from our part). However, J&G Landscape Design worked in our property for a little less than a month with no major problems at all (all minor problems were taken care of immediately and with no fuss). The crew keep arriving every single day (except when it was raining) at exactly 8 am and leaving at 3 pm. All workers were simply great -- very pleasant, courteous, professional, careful with what they were doing, and extremely knowledgeable. Jim Logan, their supervisor, was keeping eye on the project every single day informing us with the progress and any problems that needed to be taken care of. Jim is a great guy and a real asset to the company. He knows very well all technicalities involved with this type of a project and communicates in a great way with the workers. We were very impressed with the way that the patio and the walkways were constructed, using the best materials and the most time consuming workmanship. The final result was beyond our expectations, both in terms of quality of construction and aesthetics. Kudos to Francisco, the foreman, and Alvaro, the mason. Another important point that distinguishes this company with the ones we dealt before is that all parties involved (the owners Jeff and Greg, the designer Matt, the supervisor Jim, and the workers Francisco, Alvaro, and Hector, listened endlessly and with patience to all our requests and made any possible effort to address them. This made us feel extremely comfortable with the project and we were convinced early on that the final result will simply be excellent. The company is more expensive than other companies doing similar work. Although we were a little bit upset having to pay more money, it became clear during the first week of construction it was worth it. Although the company provides landscape design, we found this part to be a little weak. We had to do a lot of work by ourselves in order to come up with the design of the entire project (although Jeff Potter, one of the owners of the company greatly contributed to this as well). After the design was agreed upon, Matt Putter put everything on a formal engineering drawing. For complicated projects we recommend a similar route of action or hiring a professional landscape designer before proceeding.

Jeff was great. I had to re-schedule the appointment a number of times and he was very flexible. For a fee of $75 he came out and assessed our drainage system. He was very patient and answered all of my questions and provided some much needed insight. In addition, he made recommended some repairs we could easily do ourselves. I would definitely call J & G for future work.

We hired J&G to create a new landscape design for our entire property (0.15 acre single family home). Jeff came out to our home and asked us about our wants and needs for the yard. Based on that discussion, they created a plan for new hardscaping and plants. The design services cost $600, and we felt that it was well worth it. We really liked what they proposed and felt that it fit well with our design ascetic. In terms of budgeting, I really liked the plan was broken into four parts, so that we could choose what parts of the plan to implement this year and so that we would know exactly what it would cost. We decided to only have the site work completed for our backyard this year. I appreciated that J&G kept us abreast of their construction timeline and gave us 24 hours notice before the work started. In terms of the actual work, the crew was impressive--they were speedy, professional, and did a great job. We are very happy with our new backyard and look forward to working with J&G next year to have new plants installed. We would highly recommend them to anyone.

&G did a fantastic job. They provided a wonderful design. They provided plans to my HOA. They were clean, courteous and now we are so happy with the way our yard looks!

J & G did an impeccable job for much less than proposed by others. Like a hound dog on a scent, Jeff quickly rooted out the causes of our wet-basement issues, unlike other experts over the years. Any issue we raised over an unforeseen complication they addressed promptly and diligently, even when it involved undoing a fair amount of work. It was good to know that we were working with a company for whom customer satisfaction is the bottom-line. Working with J & G was an enjoyable and satisfying experience!

The work took exactly 2 days to complete and it was an amazing transformation. I didn't need to give them any detailed guidance I just asked them to make it look pretty and functional. I was more than happy with the results, which I couldn't have planned any better. They truly made a jungle of a lawn look trimmed and manicured and I would highly recommend them in the future!

Jeff Potter spent several hours with us discussing/presenting ideas about plantings appropriate to our sun, drainage, and deer concerns. He was patient, honest and objective. We particularly appreciated his professional advice. His work crew arrived early, worked hard, asked questions, and left work area super clean. Working with us he placed new plantings prior to actual planting. Again, this was very important to us. We have used J&G in the past--pavers, irrigation, plantings and were always more than pleased. This experience was most satisfactory. We have suggested J&G to several neighbors.

It went very well but the estimate was very high. So we’re still considering it and we’re looking at getting estimates from other companies as well. The person who came out was very good. He was on time, very comprehensive and knowledgeable. It’s a good company. He explained what would be needed for what we wanted to get done. He told us what he would need to do to our land and what our different options were. We were interested specifically in eco friendly options and he obviously was able to refer me to the right person to get a rebate and things like that. We may or may not use their services again in the future.

There work is excellent. I feel their cost was reasonable for the work they did. Everything was done on time, and met all of our expectatons. They gave a presentation with pictures, estimates, and the work completed matches well.

They are going to install it later. It was a wonderful experience. They are prompt. They do exactly what they say they are going to do. They are responsive to any questions or any changes that you want. They are very knowledgeable. I was very pleased with the result. I will give them further work.

Since we were in the Spring season, lots of flowers in our yard were in full bloom. But we were ensured that special care would be taken to avoid damage to our plantings, and everything would be protected or restored to the greatest degree possible through the excavation work. And it was! The team of workmen were very professional and took that special care -- performing masterful work on the walkway, and placement of the flow well. Additionally, the responsiveness of both Jeff and Greg -- in assessing the problems and solutions, and then scheduling the repair -- was a rare pleasure to experience. I would highly recommend this reputable company for any work they advertise!

They were very responsive and they did a good job in both cases. They came back when I had an issue with the drain that they put in. It was in one area in the middle of our lawn and the soil sort of settled on two sides of the drain. So I called them about that and they came back and put some more dirt there right away. So that was fine. I would use their services in the future too.

Jeff Potter, the company president provided thoughtful, comprehensive recommendations on replacing old leyland cypress trees which were subject to falling down due to shallow root systems and addressing front yard planting areas. He listened carefully to our concerns and issues and then provided recommendations on how to proceed. He did not rush us as he responded to our many questions. I would add that we requested advice from 3 other landscape organizations and were not pleased with their approach to our issues/concerns.
