I will continue to use Hyman Electric for work in the future and will recommend highly, his services to all, especially to those of us who are clueless regarding electrical work. He is articulate and patient with a client who does not ''talk tech.''
Description of Work: This is an old house with a new central A/C unit. Wiring from that to the house (was dicey at best) into the exterior box, which was very untenable. Given the amount of rain we have had, sparks were flying, and circuits in the main (interior) box were tripping off. Bill Hyman took my call; we walked through the problem, determined that it required service and they appeared the very next day, today. Alex replaced the romex and fixed the exterior box.

 + -1 moreMr. Hyman called back on a weekend, and walked me through a fix to my problem. Not only did he save me the cost of a service call, but he was very nice about it as well.
Description of Work: Mr. Hyman was able to talk to me over the phone and walk me through fixing a problem, and saved me from having to have a service call. It was a simple problem - flipping the breakers in a breaker box. I had flipped them off and back again on myself (a couple of times, actually), but it turns out I wasn't giving it enough pressure in the "off" position.

He even changed out another light in the kitchen that was too tall for me to reach without a ladder, without being asked, and removed the outdoor electrical equipment that was no longer being used. Scheduled the work for the following day when I called late the afternoon before; called to let me know they were on the way because I was out working; and even waited 30 minutes for me to arrive! Excellent service.
Description of Work: Troubleshooting bank of overhead lights in kitchen that stopped working abruptly. Found trouble in unexpected source (a circuit involving an outlet on my deck) and repaired it.

 + -1 moreThey were very knowledgeable about what needed to be done, and they were clean, prompt and had good suggestions in their initial visit about what types of fixtures to purchase. We had a lower quote for the work from another company, but the electrician did not show up for two scheduled appointments then never responded to our messages to find out what happened and to reschedule. This was the opposite of our experience with Hyman Electric.
Description of Work: Replacing and upgrading of a very old, out of code electrical box to something new. Removing of two old light fixtures and putting in two new ones.

Description of Work: OUR ELECTRICAL SERVICE IN OUR 1950'S HOME WAS UPGRADED TO 200 AMP CAPACITY AND TWO NEW CIRCUITS WERE INSTALLED TO PREVENT CIRCUIT BREAKAGE.
