Excellent from start to finish!

I had gotten numerous estimates based on many, many recommendations. I chose Walt's Tree Service. Their estimator came out very quickly and gave me a written estimate on the spot. Their price was very competitive and reasonable. I had checked out everything that the Maryland Dept. of Natural Resources recommended one do before hiring a Tree Expert. We spoke to their references, got a copy of their insurance, and of course, made sure they had a current Tree Expert license. They arrived promptly on the day scheduled and got to work immediately. They did an excellent job of removal and clean-up. Their workers were courteous and professional and they did everything we had contracted for plus a couple of extra, last minute additions and made sure we were completely satisfied before leaving.

I called for the estimate - they provided the estimate within a week as promised. A rep stopped by and explained how they would remove the tree. I was concerned about the tree being so close to the house(less than 12 ft) , the deck (less than 4 ft), overhead power line from the house (4-5ft) , and in the back yard which did not provide access to heavy equipment. He explained that the only transport of the wood/logs from the back would be a four wheeler vehicle with a cart attachment. This surprised me since other estimates involved using a crane parked on my front lawn. I didn't schedule the work right away as I was obtaining various estimates. I decided to use them based on the price and the recommendation of a neighbor who had a similar sized tree removed from his back yard -(same kind of access). I was very pleased with their work. They were friendly and polite. The job manager verified with me the work to be done before they started. They started with the downed branch - as they cut it up the moved the items that had been crushed beneath(toy slide, bball hoop) to the back of the yard.They then removed the smaller tree before moving on to the biggest job - the oak. I still do not know how they managed to miss the deck, power lines and my air conditioner unit as they brought those huge limbs/logs down. They cut up the logs and hauled them around to the front for removal in their large truck. They were precise and cautious, yet seemed to get the work done so quickly. It was a relief to have the tree gone and no longer worry when the wind blows. Before they left they trimmed the crabapple tree away from the street as requested and cleaned up all the debris from front and back yards. I received many estimates - some as high as $4000. This company was by far the best deal - considering price and quality of work. I would definitely use them again. The only glitch involved was in obtaining a copy of the insurance. I was talking to someone in the office in the days preceding the work date. Apparently their insurance agent was bought out and they were having problems getting the new agent to get me the info. Cant blame the company, they were trying - they eventually hand delivered me a copy before the work was done so that I could review it. All in all I think working with this company was a good experience.
