Description of Work: I had a drain line from my basement bathroom back up. What a mess. I contact Thomas Clark at 7:30 AM and had a supervisor call back about 20 minutes later. No plumbers were available, but would be in the afternoon. They let me know the appointment window would be from noon until 4 PM. The supervisor called back around 3 and let me know the plumber was in route. The plumber arrived at 3:30 PM and immediately diagnosed the problem (drain clogged). He needed to remove the toilet to access the line and then used a very large (7/8" diameter) power auger to snake the line for approximately 120 feet. The clog was in the first 20 feet, but he wanted to assure the line was clean to the street. He also ran a video camera the length of the line to assess any potential problems of which he informed me. The plumber (David) was very professional and explained their pricing was by the job, not the hour. Total cost was approximately $700 which seemed high given the total project took approximately 3 hours from drive up to drive off. Absolutely no problems with the quality of the work or the professionalism of the company.

Description of Work: Looking at Angie's list for plumbers and am reminded of this story whenever I see the name Thomas E. Clark (TEC). Did a bath remodel about six years ago. The general contractor wanted to use TEC for the plumbing. TEC quoted ~$15,000 for the work after my own plumber (who had done great work in the past) had quoted ~$5,000. When I confronted the GC, he switched plumbers. My conclusion was that TEC (and maybe the GC) tried to overcharge me for all it could. Advise caution to anyone considering TEC.

Description of Work: Got quotes for replacing old electric water heater. Asked about 3 options, electric water heater tank, gas water heater tank, and gas tankless water heater. They could do all 3, and talked about pros and cons. Quotes were better than most others, and in ballpark with the best prices. In the end went with a company that specializes in tankless.

Description of Work: Replaced a cut-off flapper and water supply hose on 1 toilet; replaced all parts inside the tank of a second toilet.

Description of Work: Excellent in snaking drainage, gas boiler heater maintenance, re-piping of hot water heating system. Prices are reasonable but not cheap. Very responsive, always available.

Description of Work: I have used Thos Clark and Asso many times over the past 4-5 years. Most recently to replace an ancient toilet in my basement bathroom. Their service is exceptional. I have never had to wait more than a day or two for a service call, and they always show up on time, and call before to remind me they are coming. This time a serviceman came, assess the situation and gave me a choice of replacement toilets with a range of prices. When he didn't have tho one I wanted, he called in and another person came with the correct toilet within 30 min. While he was waiting, he removed the old toilet, which was very rusted and hard to get out. The whole process took about 90 minutes and my bathroom was spotless afterwards. I will contine to use them for all my plumbing needs>

Description of Work: i had water damage under my wood floors and the plumber was trying to find a water leak in the house but could not find one and advised me that my replacing the water heater was a good idea and the floor were simply drying out.

Description of Work: I called the company to repair a leaky toilet valve and the plumber showed me how the toilet had been leaking from underneath for a long time and had left lime deposits on my granite floor. He suggested but did not give me the hard sell on a new toilet and I agreed. He had someone bring the new toilet out within an hour and installed it that day. he did a great job and i really like the new toilet. He also cleaned the granite around the toilet and showed me how to remove the lime deposits. I would definitely use this company again.

Description of Work: Another lousy company. I did receive a call back promply but the they want to charge me 104 for service and on top of that I will pay overtime. I kindly turned them down. very lousy and greedy.

Description of Work: Our toilet tank was leaking. Our efforts to repair it ourselves were unsuccessful. Our technician (Edwin) arrived as scheduled. He gave us a call 30 minutes in advance to let us know he was on his way. He checked our toilet and was unsure at first whether it could be repaired. But he persevered and was able to fix it without our having to buy a new toilet. We were very pleased with the service and the technician's professionalism. Would gladly use Thomas E. Clark again.

Description of Work: On Sun., 11/28, I started calling Thomas E. Clark to report that I had no heat. I kept calling back for the next 4 hours. Each time the answering service said that they would contact Dave to get back to me. Finally after 4 1/2 hours I did get a call back. I had explained to the answering service that I just wanted to know whether or not someone could come out today. This communication system would certainly help consumers who have no communication with the company. I was very disappointed in the poor communication and would not use Thomas Clark again.

Description of Work: Returned from out of town during the week to find AC was not working. Called Thomas E Clark INC who replaced coolant. Three days later on the weekend had same problem - the company had no problem charging me $100 to say they could not help me on the weekend. They wanted to schedule further diagnostic work during the week but after spending $500 to end up where I began I tried someone else.

Description of Work: A small furnace for radiant heat was not working, leaving a couple rooms in the house awfully cold. I called on Saturday about an appointment to fix it. Since it was not an emergency, I was happy to schedule for the following week. I got a call back promptly giving me a time for Monday morning. Two technicians showed up on time. They diagnosed the problem(a transformer)and had the right part to fix it on the truck. When they were done, I asked them about a hot water heater that wasn't up to the capacity we needed. They said(and I agreed)that I needed a larger unit. To my surprise, they offered to install one that morning. Although I probably should have shopped around, the notion of getting this problem fixed right away was too compelling. So they called for the new heater to be delivered and proceeded to remove the old one. The space was tight, but they took out some heating ducts to make room to get the new unit in and then reinstalled them afterwards. Although the total project took much longer than I had planned for just fixing the furnace, it was a very satisfying experience to get everything done at once. The technicians were professional and very clean. I gave them a B for price only because I don't know whether the price was too high or not. But under the circumstances, it seemed reasonable.

Description of Work: Our disposal was clogged. The plumber was prompt, but in fact, by the time he arrived, we did not realize it but we had already cleared the pipe. He checked it out, confirmed that the drain was cleared, and that was that. He charged the minimum fee which had already been quoted to us.

Description of Work: My furnace quit and after a couple of really cold days I looked up the Thomas Clark company on Angie's List. I rang them in the late morning. They sent out a repairman by 2:45 p.m. He diagnosed the problem, had the correct motor on his truck, fixed it quickly and efficiently, and was pleasant. The company called to ensure that he was here. A first class operation.
