+ -1 moreSomeone came out, looked over the basement, more or less told me what I would need. They said I would get it in writing and that was in October. I called once and they never got back to me. The other times, I tried calling, there was no answer or it was busy. I was just frustrated. I was not exactly happy. She was a very nice woman who explained that I probably needed a sump-pump and what they would have to do like drilling in the basement and stuff like that which freaked me our entirely. I said, how much does this cost? She says, I'm not really the estimator but she gave me a price of $8,500 which sort of blew me away. She said, you'll get this all in writing, in two weeks. Three weeks went by and I called, I just never got a response. I think I left a message. I'm not sure if that's what I need done anyway in my basement to be perfectly honest though I need something done. It wasn't worth their time but it certainly wasn't worth my $39. I think she was a little late and she actually called or texted me. There was another service provider coming that day so I was sort of involved with the other service provider at the time she called. It worked out fine.
Description of Work: It was for a foundation inspection and preventive water leakage plan.

Description of Work: Checked sump pump and foundation of home. Service tech arrived late but did call to notify. Upon arrival, tech handed me a business card with another employees name. No tools present to "check" sump pump. Walked around the outside perimeter of home to "check" foundation. Felt we could have done all of the above ourselves and saved the $ 50-. Did not feel the tech had the expertise needed to diagnose a real problem.

+ 0 moreSUM PUMP INSPECTION The person inspected the furnace room where the sum pump is located. She opened the lid of the pump and said:" OMG, where is your floating device? Where did it go? This is not a good sign! I have to call my manager." The manager was not reachable. She made some pictures with her I-Phone to show them to her boss later. Then she went around the house with a flashlight and inspected the foundation of the house. 10 min later she called me:" I have to show you something. Do you see all these cracks here in your wall?" I saw a tiny little crack. She:" This is a bad sign. Your house has water under this wall that is pressuring and can not escape and will harm your wall very much in that way, that the wall might fall apart." Walking again inside the furnace room, she explained to me that her company has to dig a deep gap along the inside wall of the furnace room, holes have to be drilled along etc.etc. I was shocked, scared and asked, whether this is really urgently necessary. She assured this and mentioned a price around 3500 $ and it could be even higher. Her company would send me an estimate. I have never heard from her resp. her company again.
Description of Work: The provider basically didn't do anything except wasting my time.

+ 1 moreThe sales representative who came to do the inspection did not seem to be very knowledgeable. She told us that the cracks in our walls needed attention and then described the service that their company would perform and gave us a quote for that. Before she left I asked her about the sump pump and she had forgotten to even look at that, even though that was part of the deal we purchased. She couldn't get the sump pump to turn on, but asked if we've heard it turn on in the past before. I said we had and she said that it must be working. A week later we had another inspector come out and he made it clear to us that the sump pump is badly in need of repair. He said that the walls most likely do not need anything done to them, which was the direct opposite message we heard from this provider. Update: Someone else from RJY Construction came out and inspected our sump pump after we called them. I appreciate them coming out to perform this inspection and this person seemed much more knowledgeable than the first person who came for the inspection.

+ -1 moreI find it highly suspicious that a company would not detail in writing what was included in the contract. And I find it very unprofessional to not respond to repeated requests. Even a phone call saying "We don't want the job" would have been more welcome than just being ignored.
Description of Work: I phoned this company to get an estimate to waterproof my basement. The gentleman showed up on time and we discussed the situation. When speaking with him, he seemed knowledgeable and friendly. I explained that I had gotten other estimates already. I wanted to compare them so I asked for a detailed estimate, not just a price quote -- I did not expect it to be itemized, but I wanted to know what was included in the contract. He said he understood, that it was no problem. He emailed me the estimate within a day or two. The entire description of work to be done was in a box that was 2x2 inches large. There was no way I could compare it to the other estimates. I emailed him back and asked several very specific questions. I got no response. I had hit reply to his email so I knew I had the correct email address. After two weeks I emailed him a second time and left a phone message. Again I got no response. By now, a month had gone by. I emailed him a final time and got no response. I find it highly suspicious that a company would not detail in writing what was included in the contract. And I find it very unprofessional to not respond to repeated requests. Even a phone call saying "We don't want the job" would have been more welcome than just being ignored.

+ 0 moreI noticed after several rain storms that the carpet in my finished basement was soaked. I called RJY for an appointment, and Rick surveyed the space after coming to the house -- He made a quick recommendation as to how the problem should be resolved. A drain system was installed below the level of the foundation, along the rear wall, so that water will no longer be able to enter the basement from underground. The crew completed the work on schedule, and cleaned up the job site each day and upon completion of the project. The crew was also great about moving items around in the basement while work was underway. Wet carpet and padding were removed and disposed of, and a HEPA air filtration machine was set up to filter mold from the air. All in all, it was a very good experience. I had them back to install ceramic tile also, since I wasn't enthusiastic about installing more carpet in the basement. Forgot to mention that a lifetime warranty for the waterproofing was included with the job.
Description of Work: Drain system was installed along the back wall of the house. Sump pump is hidden in the closet, and redirects water outside and away from the house. Company also came back for a second job and installed ceramic tile in the basement.
