I suppose I need to cut the company some slack given that they worked me into their very busy schedule after Irene slammed the east coast and everyone's basement flooded all at once. Still, I was disappointed with their customer service, as I felt like, because they were so inundated with business after the storms that they didn't care whether they had mine or not. Perhaps I felt a bit put off after the incredible service I received from Joe at Moldgone (which I've also reviewed), who personally recommended this company, being friends with the owner of this company. My disappointment started when I scheduled my appointment. I tried to explain that my situation was somewhat serious as my son had had a severe allergic reaction to the mold in my basement following the flooding. I understand if they weren't able to make "special" arrangements for me, but the scheduler actually laughed at me when I asked if they had anything earlier than the two-weeks-out appointment they eventually scheduled for me. In addition, when discussing pricing, I inquired about the $150 Angieslist discount, to which she replied that some other $50 discount was better and stopped discussing the matter with me. My son's medical condition was so serious that I felt that I had no choice but pay what they wanted and schedule the appointment for whenever they could fit me in (which was two weeks away). I do feel a bit gouged. Otherwise, the technicians were all friendly and efficient. He explained everything about the process to me and did a great job. All in all, the technician did a wonderful job. No complaints about that. So, for the question asked above: "Would you use this company/individual again in the future?:" I begrudging answered "Yes", but honestly, I'm not sure. For all the companies that I've worked with through this flooding ordeal... MoldGone, Value Dry, and Quality Air Solutions, I felt the personal service of the first two mentioned companies, and that they really cared, where as Quality Air Solution was just another cold, "give me your money and shut up" company.

Quality Air Solutions came just after the scheduled arrival time, but ready to go. They were in and out of our house in less than 2 hours, just before 10am fully cleaned up. From what I could see from the trash they took with them, they did a thorough job of cleaning our ducts. And it might just be my contentment with the service, but the air seems better in our house today. The technician also recommended additional steps we can take to maintain our air quality, which was greatly appreciated and something we intended to act upon.

Brandon came and thoroughly cleaned every one of our vents and the entire system. In addition, he was very kind to our family, trying not to disturb anyone with the noise of the work. He went out of his way to be kind and helpful. Brandon is a rare person, one who enjoys his work strives for excellence in what he does, and one who obviously loves to help people.

Overall, we couldn't have been more pleased. See the story above. From the estimate, to the service and a problem that they came back to fix; Brandon was respectful, timely, honest, helpful and always with a smile on his face. Highly recommend this company.

Tony was on time. Located all ducts. Explained what he was going to do. Did a great job. highly recommend.

Outstanding service. Very professional. We have a large house (2 zones, 3 floors + basement). And a lot of stairs just to get to our front door. Outside temperature felt like over 100 degrees with high humidity. Tony didn't flinch. He carried a vacuum about the size of a mini cooper up our front steps and all over the house, cleaning ducts, returns, supplies and changing filters where necessary. He demonstrated extensive knowledge of our systems, made some repairs and pointed out problem areas that our usual service tech has clearly overlooked. He patiently answered my questions, showed me what he was doing and made recommendations for better efficiency. Very pleased.

They called us to let us know that they were on their way and arrived on time. They covered the carpet and worked in a very professional way. Mr. Tony and Mr. Hector were the technicians who came to our place to do the work. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

The amount of dust in the world is increasing, but the equilibrium in my house has shifted. If you want your ducts cleaned these are the people to call. I do a lot of small projects myself, but when I pulled the cover off the vents I realized I would be better off calling a professional. They had a sophisticated series of filters on the vacuum that was six feet high or so. They take this silicone tentacled wand that runs on compressed air and feed it through as the vacuum runs. It beats the dust off the walls of the vents. The technician was very professional, tolerated my questions, watching and was a real pleasure to talk with. He explained all the procedures and was very careful coming in and out of the house with equipment. He advised me about the right filters for the air handler and fixed up my dryer vent. We ended up discussing air pollution and some aspects of environmental atmospheric chemistry. If you are thinking of cleaning some old ducts yourself with a broom and a shop vac you won't get them clean like this and you will likely just make a mess. Let these guys do it. My vents are spotless and ready for AC.

Requested cost estimate and appointment by phone for work that was completed within one week of service call. The service scheduler Laura was polite and efficient, and a reminder call was placed the day before the appointment. I requested the technician named Brandon when scheduling the service call because he was frequently referenced in Angie's List reports. His reputation is well-deserved and aptly earned. Brandon was experienced, professional, competent, neat and personable. He explained in detail each step in the duct cleaning process, and estimated accurately the time required to clean my system. Brandon frequently solicited my comments and reactions as he progressed through remediation of the duct system. The equipment used to clean the ducts was state-of-the-art and in like-new condition. After the duct system was cleaned, Brandon suggested the blower motor assembly in the air exchanger should be cleaned as well. My HVAC system had just been serviced 3 days prior to the QAS visit, and the HVAC technician informed me the blower motor needed to be cleaned. Brandon provided a cost and time estimate for the work, and I agreed for him to perform the work even though it was unscheduled during the initial service request. Not only did QAS save me $100 over the previous HVAC estimate, they saved me a second service call to the HVAC company. After completing the duct and blower motor cleaning and reassembly, Brandon tested the complete HVAC system to ensure it was in proper working order. He then packed his equipment, cleaned up his work area, and loaded all equipment back in his service van. The last step in the service call was replacement of my inadequate accordion-style dryer vent with new sheet metal sleeve from the dryer outlet to the exterior vent. Total technician time for the service call was 7 hours. QAS provided the most memorably positive service experience I can recall, and Brandon personally made the most positive impact of all. Their price was fair and reasonable, and I was extremely pleased with the final results and the cost. I highly recommend this firm.

I decided to have the system replaced to prevent possibility of dryer fire and to comply with the manufacturer's recommendation against using the old tubing. The price quote was fair, and Brandon did an excellent job removing the old system, and also, re-routing and installing the new system. He showed me the old tubing and joined parts, pointing out the amount of lint present in the odd angled areas and the outflow area which terminated against the deck. He explained everything he did, showed me the old parts, and cleaned up after himself. He had to change the route he had specified on his first visit, but he showed me new route and explained cogently the need for the change. My dryer works more efficiently now and I'm relieved that this problem was taken care of before I had a fire.

They showed up on time. He was really nice and did a good job. He explained everything. He also recommended using a different kind of filter than what we had been using. Their price was better.

Outstanding service & outstanding price. Simply put: the technician that assisted us (Brandon) provided the BEST customer service that we have experienced since moving to DC in 2003. I would strongly recommend Quality Air for anyone in need of cleaning their ducts and/or repairing their ductwork (and I would also suggest requesting Brandon, if possible). It was absolutely pouring rain the day that Brandon cleaned our system, and he was extremely conscientious of tracking in mud/rain and he kept his work area spotless. He even spent a few minutes walking outside the house (in the rain) looking for cracks in the foundation that may be causing circulation issues which was totally above and beyond the call of duty. He was respectful of the fact that we have animals in the house and he gave us ample warning to move them around so they could avoid being subjected to the moderately loud cleaning noises associated with this type of work. He spent extra time explaining our HVAC system (in plain English, no less) and fire hazards and even performed light maintenance improvements to our system. And, of course, the cleaning service itself went flawlessly even though our 1942 house provided lots of challenges ranging from painted-over registers to unusual ductwork. Awesome job. 100 out of 100 on our ranking scale. 'Nuff said.

They were courteous on the phone and in person. Showed up when expected and did the work within the time frame expected.

It went great. When I called for an estimate the woman who I spoke with was really helpful. She explained the process, what to expect and answered all my questions. It was easy to schedule a convenient date. Joe arrived as scheduled and did the whole thing in about 3 hours. To my knowledge the ducts have not ever been cleaned on a house built in 1946. Joe went through and efficiently cleaned duct by duct. When he was done he stayed to make sure that the heat would restart. It didn't immediately start and he cleaned out some dirt built up on the burners in the furnace to get it going again. The job stirred up very little mess (especially considering the job). The whole thing went very smoothly and easily. Joe also cleaned my dryer vent form me while he was at it. I'm happy with the outcome and would recommend Quality Air to anyone looking to have their vents cleaned.

The service was excellent! Quality Air agreed to come on a Sunday to accommodate our schedule and the intense summer heat. They were very professional and really went the extra mile!

First, the technician was an hour and a half late (scheduled start time was 12:30-1pm). While he timely called me and told me that he was running late (he was "on his way" or something to that effect), I didn't realize (and I don't believe he told me) it was going to be a full hour and a half. Thus, the tech finally came at 2:30 (on a Saturday afternoon). When the technician arrived (he was at least apologetic--he informed me this was his 3rd job of the day--and he seemed tired enough that it was presumably true), he proceeded to set up. I had already started getting to work on taking the vents off (while waiting for him), so he finished taking off the vent covers, set up the machine to suck debris from near the HVAC unit, and began to blow air through the vents. The technician had informed me repeatedly that the vent cleaning was a very clean process because the dust and debris stayed in the vents and got sucked up by the machine that he had brought in; this clearly turned out not to be the case. The whole process of blowing air into the vents was much, much dirtier than I expected. In fact, whole clouds of dirt and debris flew out of at least one vent that I watched. He proceed to get out the vacuum cleaner and cleaned up some of the dirt on the floor, and then put another shot of air into the vent, only to have another dust/dirt cloud shoot out again. After blowing air through the vents, he then went to the basement and proceeded to agitate the vents through "bore" holes with a snake/whip. The agitation again caused large amount of dust and dirt to pour out the other open "bore" holes and soon the basement had a thick cloud of dust/debris (I opened the basement door to get some fresh air.) The technician provided no explanation/excuse/attempt to mitigate the dust and dirt. (It is possible that my vents were worse than average, as the dirt/dust seemed to come mostly from vents that did not have true metal ducts, rather the vent was a hole cut in the block, and then the "duct" was just closed off floor joists.) While I believe the technician cleaned the vents properly (at least I don't know enough to know otherwise), I was surprised by how dirty the house became. The entire upstairs bathroom needed to be cleaned when he left, and there were large piles of dust and dirt outside some of the vents. (One vent, which was behind open book shelving, had books covered in dust and dirt. I had to take them all out and wipe them down, and the floor was really bad. Really, I could write my name in the dirt.) After the technician left (around 7pm) and I walked around the house, I concluded that there had been no attempt to clean up anything, anywhere (other than the one vent that I watched). A couple other minor things: 1) the heavy machine the tech brought in scuffed my newly painted basement steps, 2) I was charged the $95 dollars for the coil cleaning (I think) even though I wasn't shown that it needed to be done (I thought I just had it cleaned last year.) Finally, and perhaps worst of all, the technician used an anti-bacterial spray on the vents before he left. (He showed me the bottle, but I didn't note the name--I did note that it was supposed to be diluted.) At any rate, the spray has a really, really, really strong smell. The house still reeks of it 6 days later. We have had to have the windows open any time possible since then, and the house STILL smells really, really bad. (Imagine talcum powder on steroids). The technician had informed me that he was going to use the solution liberally (part of the reason I wanted the cleaning was unpleasant odors from the vents), but I guess I didn't understand the extent that the smell was going to pervade everything in the house. (And if you turn on the heat, the house only smells even worse. Ugh.) I assume with time the smell will get better. But it has only gotten marginally better after 6 days. Ugh. In conclusion, I feel like the C rating is pretty generous.

The workers were on time, clean, polite, and efficient. They were willing to do everything needed to do the job right. Two days later, and the house seems much cleaner.

When we bought our townhouse, the ducts were in pretty sad shape --- rust in the ductwork, on the registers, and even staining the surrounding carpet. I was worried we'd have to replace it all, but with the thorough cleaning from Quality Air Solutions, we can breathe easier for now. The 3 technicians (Joe, William, Brandon) arrived on time and were friendly and efficient. In addition to cleaning the duct system, they also repaired a duct boot that had been torn and bent around the edges, replaced a rust-encrusted boot, and built a new dryer exhaust pipe. We had initially only requested the duct cleaning, but upon arriving, one technician noted our builder-standard nylon dryer hose. He mentioned that lint could easily build up in the ridges, making it a fire hazard; he later showed how coated our hose was. We agreed to have him build & install a metal exhaust pipe, which he did that same afternoon (including buying the materials himself, fitting the pipe inside the house, and removing the old hose). As far as I'm aware, we were not charged for this extra service (only the regular dryer vent cleaning is listed on bill). The only hitch was that after the technicians left, we noticed that the new exhaust pipe was pushing the exterior vent cover out a bit. We had to schedule another visit to have that fixed, which they did at no extra cost. Overall, we're very happy with the results.

The technician, Brendan, called when en route to give us an expected arrival time. He was professional and efficient, checking out the furnace and HVAC before getting to work. We had just purchased the home and were having the ducts cleaned before moving in; he found one of the filters had been installed inappropriately and appeared unsalvageable. He worked it over and managed to make it usable; we appreciated the extra effort. He explained what he was doing periodically and answered all of our questions. He was in and out in a matter of just a few hours, leaving no trace of dust or dirt behind. We were very pleased with the service and would both recommend and use Quality Air Solutions again.

Joe and Dave were a couple of minute early. They went right to work and spent close to five hours cleaning my ducts. I was very impressed by their work. I highly recommend them!

This was a challenging task since the work had to be done in a tight crawl space on a very hot day. While I was given an estimate before the work was started, some issues were discovered that required far more work than was anticipated. I was told that they would have to charge me an additional $100. I felt this was absolutely fair -- especially after learning there were some dead rats in this small area, as well as one live one, where they were working. I am very pleased with the work that was done and will be calling them for regular duct cleaning.

It could have also caused a fire and he didn?t even charge me for that. There were two young men who I dealt with. It was a fantastic experience and they were terrific. I have two Irish setters and they were friendly to them. They also complimented the dogs. They were busy working and were very clean as well as neat. That extra service that they provided would probably save our lives some day and also other people. So I informed the other partner about the service provided and he told me that his partner does the same at every place they go. I felt that the price was fair for what they did. It will certainly help our air conditioner to function better. If someone would have come out to fix that extra problem we had with our washer, then it would have probably cost us $50. They provided top quality service. They were very responsive and the young man who did the duct cleaning was on time. They were very friendly but very professional. I would definitely use their services in the future too.
