I selected PHRG from Angie's Lists after reviewing and contacting several other roof contractors for free estimates. Although the sale representatives were extremely professional, thoroughly explained great features of their products & craftsmanship, and during their roof inspection pointed out several defects in our roof that required immediate attention (physically showed us the interior & exterior issues) they almost lost the contract due to their "prolonged and over detailed sales pitch"). Both sales reps were very friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable but at times it seemed as though my wife and I were setting through a auto sales pitch (we were promised several times they were at the end of their presentation only to continue extending the amount of time to finish the estimate). I would suggest that the sales group should tone down their presentations and keep track of the time. The initial estimate was extremely pricey (almost $33,000.00) even with their patented technology and products. After some serious negotiations we reached a contract price of $22,249.05. However, after the work began (additional plywood was required over and above the projected 1100sq.ft. [was told this amount should take care of the job depending on the condition of the plywood for the areas outside of the gable). It turned out we needed an additional 1300sq.ft. of plywood at $3.22sq.ft. resulting in an additional cost of $4136.00 (WOW!). I must say the work was needed but the onsite manager was willing to offer an additional discount to complete the project that was within our planned budget. The work crew that performed the work was totally AMAZING and did an outstanding professional job. They were timely, meticulous to detail, worked hard, did a great job in cleaning up after finishing the job, and took pride in their work! Many kudos to these guys (it took two days to complete the project). Several of my neighbors immediately commented on how great the finished roof looked.

A salesman came to our door on a Wednesday saying they'd "been doing work in the neighborhood." He asked if someone could come by and "just measure the windows and leave a written quote." Since we were looking into some home repair projects, I said yes. But that was FAR from what happened. I won't go into the long version; there are plenty of reviews on here that all say the same thing. I should have suspected something when both he and the woman who confirmed the appt insisted both my husband and I be home. The appt was scheduled for 4 pm. Thursday. About that time I got a phone call telling me they'd be late. They showed up a few minutes to 5. Long story short: They didn't leave until nearly 8. In that time we had to take my oldest to practice at school, pick up the other two from school, and then pick the first back up, so we were in and out sort of tag-teaming them. I also had to cook dinner, and my husband works from home and had to take some critical calls. He several times asked them to just give us the price. They would not hurry up. As with others, we were offered the one-night only discount, as well as the further "use our house for marketing" discount. I would never have let them come in had I known it would take nearly three hours. The "written estimate" was a number on a business card. When I insisted we would not make a $70K decision, or even an $18K decision for just the windows on the front of the house, in a matter of hours, one of them said, "Well, then you won't ever do it. You won't just wake up a week from now and decide to do it." I found that incredibly insulting. The thing is, I very well might have used this company. Their windows seem to be amazing. However, I find their sales tactics to be demeaning, insulting, and capitalizing on their customers's insecurities and fears. Bottom line is, I simply can't trust them.

The removal of my old roof and the installation of my new roof went extremely well, despite the weather. For several weeks, we experienced frigid weather conditions including snow and ice which had forced me to re-schedule the work 2 times, and on February 28th, I wanted to reschedule a 3rd time. However, Nick the project manager called me prior to the arrival of the project foreman Danny and his crew to assure me that Power would take care of me and that all the work would be completed by day's end, as requested. Reluctantly, i agreed to the installation and I am thrilled with the work that Power performed. When the head crew member Eduardo arrived, he, too assured me that he would complete the work and he did! I was very impressed with the professionalism as well as their genuine concern that I understood every step of the process. After tearing away the old roof and debris, Nick requested that I come outside; at which time, he personally pointed to and identified each of the materials that had been installed to the decking in preparation for the install of the new shingles! After the new shingles were installed, Danny requested that I again come outside. I was completely blown away because Power really did "take care of me" just as Nick said they would! My new roof is absolutely beautiful and I and extremely pleased with my decision to have Power Home Remodeling install my roof out of the other 6 contractors that I considered for the job!

This company provides great service from top to bottom. Their management/sales people are professional and efficient. When their representative came for the preinspection, he discovered the decking on the roof need to be replaced. He called the main office and they agreed to replace it at no additonal cost. The roof, insulation and gutters were done on three different days, and all three crews knew exactly what they were doing and couldn't be any more effecient. The roofers were expecially impressive. They arrived on time, spread tarps near the house to catch all the old nails and shingles and had people on the ground putting it all in the dumpster as it came off the roof. They were finished on time and, other than the new roof, it looked like they had never been here. Highlly recommended!

I did not like the high pressure sales approach. Nevertheless, the product quality is excellent. The project is very well managed from beginning to end. The project manager visited about 4 weeks ahead of start to check measurements and assess the project details. The installer worked quickly and efficiently and was done in 1/2 day. He did show me the internal parts of the window installation including the insulation that was installed in between the window. The caulking job was nothing less than awesome -- I have never seen a better caulking job ever! I had to leave before the job was completed, but the installer explained all that had been done to my wife and instructed her on the operation of the windows. All debris was cleaned up and carted away. They did such a fine job, I left their company sign up in my yard until the recent snow storm did it in.

It all began with a knock on the door from Daniel McNichol who introduced us to the company and scheduled an appointment for a free consultation. On 13 Jan. 2015 we met with Michael Cook who in a very professional manner did an inspection of our roof and attic. Upon his inspection it was noted that it would be wise to replace our roof do to hidden issues that weren't noticed during the original home inspection prior to buying our home. Michael sat with us and went through our options, materials (shingle and soffit color, gutter guard) pricing, financing and scheduling. Upon agreement to the project we scheduled the next phase which was handled by Brad Bence the Pre Installation Inspector. Mr. Bence arrived on time and remeasured all areas involved. He was professional and made sure all question were answered prior to his departure. The install was scheduled for 12 Feb. 2015 9:00 am. The work crew arrived with the foreman Danny introducing himself and then did a walk around the house with me explaining exactly what the workers would be doing. Within an hour of the work start Geoffrey Morton arrived.Mr. Morton introduced himself and explained he was the Project Manager for this specific project. He handed me his business card and told if he wasn't on site that I could call him for anything. The first day ended short due to inclement weather. The second day Danny and his crew were back out earlier to try to make up lost time, again the professionalism with the foreman and crew was refreshing. During the second day of the roof install the work crew showed up to install the new porch soffit. Geoffrey Morton again was on site to oversee the work and to answer any any question or concerns I may have had. The new soffit looks amazing! No more painting the porch ceiling. Once again the weather cut the work day short yet the roofers were back early the next day. As they were nearing completion the work crew arrived to install the new gutters, downspouts and gutter guards. The proficiency of this work crew had the gutters done in no time. Once again the new gutters, downspouts and gutter guards look wonderful! The roofing crew finished up and began clean up around the property. They went above and beyond assuring there would be no nails or construction debris left in the yard. I watched as the used magnetic type of brooms to sweep the site. Our property was left the way it was found, perfectly clear. Geoffrey Morton arrived to do a final inspection with us to make sure we were completely satisfied with the work. As required by Power we met with Brian McCarthy, Quality Assurance Manager. Mr. McCarthy arrived as scheduled and sat with us making sure all of our needs had been met during the work project. He did a walk around and thorough inspection of the completed work. He went and activated all the warranties involved for us. It was a relief to have such an immense project go so smoothly and I believe that was do to the professionalism and upmost courtesy displayed to us by all the employees of Power. In fact, do to quality shown we have decided to have new windows installed by Power.

They did the work and afterward another contractor (who was at our home to install a new roof) pointed out several areas where Power Home Remodeling made BIG mistakes that, if not fixed, would ruin wood trim (under the installed vinyl). I called the company and had someone come out to take a look at the problem. This so-called "site manager" was obviously ticked off that he had to come out. He argued about the scope of work that had to be re-done saying "they're not going to go for this" or "we're not re-doing that!" And finally I told this guy to send someone else to the house because frankly I didn't want to have to argue with someone (on my property) who didn't have basic respect for a customer. Long story short, the came back out, fixed what needed fixing and now a bit more than a year later...I just hired someone to re-do what Power Home Remodeling came out twice to do poorly.

Pressure for same day sales agreement is excessive. Do yourself a favor and have them come AFTER you have other bids from well-rated contractors. The quality of the materials and workmanship is excellent. A very skilled crew got to work quickly and accomplished everything in a short period of time. Overall, made a tremendous difference in appearance and function of home's exterior. Pre- and post-work coomunications are excellent.
Description of Work: Replaced decayed and bee-infested wood fascia and soffet on entire cedar-sided home (along with more substantial gutters and downspouts) with very nice looking brown aluminum, and caulked all gaps.

Warning!! Plan on 4 hours of your day gone. I had to push them out after 2.5 hours as I had other estimators to work with. I heard that I was lucky for only having to spend 2.5 hours and they didn't take the usual 4 hours for their standard presentation. Special lower price if you sign up immediately and don't get any more estimates. Love those old school tactics. Have you ever experienced a time share sales pitch? If you like those, you'll love these guys. I've never heard someone talk so fast for so long. Then came the price - more than double the other 3 estimates I got that day, but they weren't using gold shingles. I went with Home Wise as the owner is former Navy like my wife and me. 50 year roof on a split foyer with fair estimate. Will leave review for them once I get the work done. If you're lonely and want some company, ask Power Home Remodeling Group for a free roof replacement estimate. They are nice people and will spend all day with you.

As a company, we do things the right way – using specific products and a specific process to deliver a premium experience. If we don’t have the opportunity to explain these differences to the homeowner, our customers will be comparing numbers with zero context. This can lead to homeowners having the project done elsewhere and, generally, being unhappy with the results, as the home remodeling industry carries a 68% complaint rate. Power’s customer satisfaction rate for those who have had work done hovers between 95-99%, with 93% of our customers would recommend Power to family and friends. These numbers take into account customer opinion on price, length of visit, communication and quality of installation. While we regret that you felt your appointment ran unnecessarily long, we’d rather have someone unhappy with the amount of time spent on the appointment prior to a customer doing the project than someone being happy moving into the installation but dissatisfied with the finished product. If there's anything else you'd like to discuss about your experience, please feel free to contact me directly using the below information. In June of 2013 I called PHRG for an estimate on a new roof. The roof on the original portion of my 1950 ranch had two layers of shingle over original plank framing, some of which had started to show moisture damage in the attic. The low-slope roofs on the two additions to the house had been (not satisfactorily) re-done twice by two different roofers and persisted in leaking in the joint corners and around the two skylights, and also had allowed leaks through to the ceiling of one of the rooms in the additions. I had contracted with PHRG in the previous year to replace the exterior siding and some windows in the house. I was expecting the same excellent sales presentation for the roof proposal, and I got it. This included a miniature model of a house which demonstrated different styles of roofing structures and shingles. I selected a heavier architectural style of shingle for the gable and porch and window roofs, and a smooth, heat-sealed Tri-Built covering for the low-slope roofs. PHRG gave me an estimate for the entire roofing job, but as I could only pay for half at the time, they agreed to do half the main gable and guarantee the estimate on the job for a year so that I could get it completed at a later date. I understand that they no longer do this, and I appreciated it then and do still, as it made it possible for me to get the job done. I had the same experience with the crewchief and crew that I had before - they worked quickly and paid attention to details. I was unaware that there was a leak behind the chimney of my wood-burning fireplace, and they installed a "cricket" behind it to direct runoff away from the chimney base. They reinforced the flashings around the vents, and restructured the flashings around the skylights, building in some extra height in order to direct water away from the edges, where I had had persistent leaks. The moisture-damaged plank sections were removed and new boards were measured, cut and laid in. The project manager followed up on the work, and the cleanup was thorough, as before. The crew was happy to dismount an old TV antenna that was anchored to the chimney, and carted it away with the trash, as well. In February of 2014, I was able to contact PHRG to complete the rest of the roof. I again was pleased with their attention to detail in the flat-slope sealing, the re-alignment of roof trim where some of the already-installed new roof had to be removed and replaced for the second half job to join up and the cleaning of the house trim where the heat-sealing had created soot marks. Cleanup was again thorough and complete. I did have one follow-up call on some loose siding where the flat roof had been installed, and that was taken care of as well. I am (finally) submitting this review in January of 2015, and I'm able to affirm that the new windows, the insulated siding and the tight roof have definitely improved the airconditioning and heating of the house, and resulted in cost savings. After this second contract with PHRG, I can again absolutely recommend the company and would use them again (except that they've already done everything at my house for the time being!)
Description of Work: Contract was for re-roofing one central gable roof and two adjoining low-slope roofs.

My house was built in 1950, a no-basement ranch of frame and stucco which had been partially sided with aluminum siding and partially with exterior beadboard siding. Additions had been added in the 1980s. Windows in the original portion of the house were wood-frame sash and leaked like sieves. A large bay window with two sash sidelights in the kitchen addition was also woodframe and the exterior frame was rotten. First, I was contacted by a door-to-door sales rep of PHRG. His approach was informative, non-aggressive and pleasant. I looked at several other companies via mailers and internet, and contacted PHRG because of that initial contact. Of the three companies I asked for proposals, I accepted PHRGs. My choice was based on their low-pressure sales approach, the excellent presentation of their process and materials, the pleasant and professional profile of their representatives and the reasonable and flexible way they priced the job. Their sales reps gave a thorough, detailed explanation of their siding and window products, including their company's moisture barrier product, insulation options, siding styles and colors and window options. I was impressed that they brought with them both examples and demonstration models of the windows and the moisture barrier and provided very clear explanations of how they work and what the advantages of the different models were. They were clearly confident in selling the quality of their product and absolute in selling complete customer satisfaction, backed by very good warantees on material and labor. They were very clear on what financial incentives the company offered to the customer for allowing on-site ads, before-and-after photo ads, and scheduling benefits. They offer a financing package as well, and when I declined it, they never pushed it. They insisted that the company policy is that "you will love your new home," and that the job is not done until the customer says they are satisfied. I checked their company licensing with the states of MD and VA and checked them in the BBB. At the time they had no reviews in Angie's list, but on-line reviews were generally positive. Their website was also very informative about their product choices and, again, very informative about the function and advantages of the products and materials they sell. In June I contracted for the replacement of the three sets of windows and for the residing of the whole exterior of the house (with the exception of some exterior brick on one of the additions.) The work began with a site inspection by the project manager, who made sure that we agreed on the work to be done. The project began on time and (with a couple of weather delays) was finished on time. I was on site most days and found that the work was done skillfully and with attention to details. The crews and crewchiefs listened to my requests for details like additional caulking, re-aligning some trim details and I was particularly impressed when two of the crew entirely disassembled and reassembled the wiring of an exterior flood light in order to refit the placement of the fixture when the new siding required that it be moved. I also requested a work change to replace installing soffiting on an underroof with the coverage of all external wood trim on the house with vinyl facia. This was done with no fuss, and at no additional cost. I found all the work to be meticulously finished, every item on my patch list was completed including two follow-up visits after the job completion date. Cleanup was equally thorough - I don't think I found more than 6 nails or screws anywhere in the yard when they had done. They sent through the paperwork to activate the warantees, and billing was prompt. I was very pleased with their work, their management style and their follow through on the quality factors they had included in their proposal. I absolutely would recommend the company, and would (and, in fact, did) use them again.

It has only been the one month, but the bill was lower. They took all day. They did the job and did the service that they put online. They took the time to explain to me and did an excellent job cleaning up. They had to go back in to put the meters in to let me know how much insulation was there. I was extremely happy with the work PHRG did to my house. I had a large bay window and 3 doors replaced. They brought multiple people to get the job done and they worked hard all day to get it done. It was very cold that day and I never once heard a complaint. Everyone was friendly and professional. I look forward to working with PHRG in the again on future projects. Great work!!

All Personnel we had contact with Power Home Remodeling were absolutely Professional in explaining the materials that would be used. The worker crews were always on time as scheduled and also very professional in the installation process. The materials were ordered and delivered the day before each job assignment was scheduled. Each crew was proficient in the particular project that was in progress. The roofing people were only responsible for the installation of roofing. The siding worker's were proficient in the removal and installation of the new siding. When it comes time for the new guttering, I'm expecting the crew that will perform this task will also be proficient in that particular project only. We were also getting New Windows installed between the projects that Power Remodeling was assigned to complete. We had already selected a contractor for the windows prior to selecting Power Remodeling. They were willing to delay their work until most of the windows had been installed before the new siding was to be performed. Although the pricing of these projects were very expensive we felt the projects were sorely needed and wanted the superior quality of the materials and the experienced work crews that would be provided. Our home is over thirty years old and was in dire need of an Extreme Makeover to be performed. We expect that when all projects are completed we will have enhanced our home to a Higher Level that will be appreciated for many more years to come. I would strongly recommend Power Home Remodeling if your projects command Quality and Assurance in your future.
Description of Work: Power Home Remodeling replaced roofing with Brand New Roof in ONE DAY. The New Roof has unlimited warranty. This same company also removed old steel siding and replaced with all New Siding in two days. We will finish up after the New Year with all New guttering and downspouts.

We ran into a rep in BJ's, in Bel Air, around 2:45 p.m. on 12/29/14 and an appointment was set up for 5 p.m. that day. The salesman, Kevin, showed up on time and was professional and efficient. He gave a good presentation and measured the windows. He also gave us a lot of information and comparisons regarding the approximate cost and quality of other companies for replacing our windows. We previously had a rep from Power Home come out in March 2014 to give a presentation and explained at that time the fact we didn't have the money to do the replacement windows and were on a fixed budget so couldn't afford another monthly payment. We are still in the same situation (and since last March had to unexpectedly replace our air conditioner, furnace and water heater), still don't have the money or able to afford another payment. Kevin was able to give us the lowest possible cost for replacement windows ($8,000), down from $15,000+ if we committed before he left our appointment. He explained the company offers financing, etc. It was a very effective presentation. We would have appreciated being able to have a day or two so we could have time to look into possibly getting a home equity loan or even a loan from a relative that we knew we could afford. The lowest quoted price was something we thought we might be able to swing, but not without researching our options.

Representatives were professional and responsive to all questions. Roof was inspected thoroughly before work was done and recommendations were made for satisfactory repairs before the roof itself was laid down. Representatives provided samples of the products to be used prior to installation. Workers arrived on time; they were courteous, competent, and worked efficiently.. All debris was removed and the house and yard did not appear to have not been touched. The work was done on time. cannot say enough good things about this company. All the representatives and workers were a pleasure to work with. Recommend highly.

I scheduled an appointment with this company for an estimate for siding and window replacement after a door to door visit from their schedulers. Two salesmen arrived at the scheduled time. They were professional in appearance and demeanor and the visit was going fine for a while, but was needlessly long as they gave me a full presentation about their company and products. They touted that they were a high volume business - I'm not sure how this is a good thing. After three hours, they finally presented an estimate for the work. The estimate was itemized only for the same day discount. I made it clear that theirs was the first estimate i had gotten and i would not be making any decisions that day. After that i expected to receive an itemized estimate without the same day discount, but at the price that would be locked in for a year. This is what i had been promised on the phone. However, up to that point the main salesman had only written down the total estimate on his business card - which he had to go out to his truck to get. Not sure why he did not have his business card in his pocket the whole time, but the salesmen went back out to their truck a couple times during the visit - it was very suspicious and a waste of time. Instead of giving me the non-discounted, itemized estimate, he rattled on for another 30 minutes about giving us another discount if we signed that day and agreed to let them use our house in their advertising. i had already made it clear i was not signing that day, and furthermore i expressed my dissatisfaction that they would offer this advertising discount only after i had said i would not sign that day. They could have explained it up front and saved us all some time. The main salesman said he still would have mentioned it if we agreed to the work that day, but hadn't mentioned it yet because "some people are not comfortable using their home in the company's advertisiing." This is a nonsensical explanation and i told him i had no reason to believe they would have still offered that option if i had said yes. I again asked for the non-discounted itemized estimate, which the salesman had not even prepared yet. He was doing all of this only on paper - also suspicious - instead of entering all the information on a tablet or ipad as we went, which even the second salesman agreed would make more sense and save a lot of time. Finally when i received all the information i had asked for, and after much arguing, i gathered the written estimates and told the salesmen we were wrapping it up. They said that i could not keep the write-up with the same day discount, that they had to return that to their office, and that they would not want me trying to get that discounted price a year from now. Really? Isn't that why they have appointment records and computers? I asked if i could make a copy of it and the salesman said "Well you say we've already wasted too much of your time and now you want to make copies?" It was a ridiculous and insulting comment, considering they were on MY time in MY house. I proceeded to hand copy the estimate just to spite them. I wonder what would happened if i tried to keep the original and asked them to leave? Would i have had to call the police at that point and have them escorted out? The salesman also said that they closed most of their business same day, and people rarely call them back later to get the work done. Gee, I wonder why? I told them i didn't know anyone that would plop down $50k for a job on the spot without getting other estimates. During this whole process my wife is feeding our young children and getting them ready for bed while still taking part in the discussion. It was obvious to the salesmen we had young kids to get to bed - nevertheless they dragged out the visit far longer than it should have gone - telling needless stories and trying to ingratiate themselves to us. One of the first thing they teach salespeople is "Know your customer". These guys were clueless and inconsiderate, even when i was making it obvious that i was ready to end it. When i mentioned that it was taking too long, the main guy even said, "well, we've spent a lot of time chatting." As if we had invited them over for a social visit! Long story short - they left at 10:30pm. The appointment started at 6:30! This company's salespeople may appear professional and friendly, but they cleary have no regard for their potential customers and are only out to close same day sales. I received several calls in advance to confirm my appointment. Something tells me i won't be getting a follow up call to see how it went.
