I did not buy from them but my experience attempting to get a quote involved lying and high pressure sales tactics... When I called for an estimate, they transferred me to a high pressure "slick" salesman who committed to sending someone out to provide an estimate for some partial gutter replacement. After lots of discussion I agreed to letting them provide me with a quote for full gutter replacement - even though I explained we really did not want or need those services. I made and appointment and several days later received a "robe-call" to contact them and confirm my appointment (which I though I had already done). I was transferred to a manager of sorts who explained they could NOT quote me for the work I wanted (huh)? When I explained I was not interested, the person the phone resorted to what I can only characterize as cold call, high pressure tactics to keep me on the phone talking. I finally had to hang up because being polite did not seem to work. To be fair, I cannot evaluate their service or overall value. I can categorically say I would never call them back because the experience was distasteful and unprofessional.

The product was fantastic and better than everything I have seen from the various residential houses I have helped build. The workers were polite, professional, and punctual. My house is much better at maintaining its temperature. Everyone I have dealt with at this company was amazing to work with and they helped me out on everything including price since I am a three time return customer!!! Now my house is fully lifetime warrantied on the outside! In short I highly recommend this company for your home improvement needs.
Description of Work: This time it was a new roof, but I have also had them do the siding and the windows.

So far great!!! The install is in progress at time of this review. Every person with whom we've had contact from Power Home Remodeling has been professional, friendly and courteous. The crew arrived on the date promised, on time, and worked like gangbusters in what I would call extreme conditions, considering we had just had a major blizzard less than a week before. Superb service and work ethic and top notch personnel make this company my number one recommendation for siding.
Description of Work: Took down old siding, gutters, soffits, and fascia. Installed new everything aforementioned, as well as new louvre vents in sides of house.

I have now had 4 projects done with power. I started with the windows and they did the roof for me as well. They have always been professional and if there was ever an issue they would always make sure it was fixed. They arrive on time (even with the snow). I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for quality work on their home.

We have now done 2 window projects with power. Both projects have gone smooth without any problems and everyone has been very professional and helpful. We have noticed already that the room is not as cold. We would recommend power to anyone looking for quality windows.

Scheduling the Appointment We scheduled an appointment with the sales representative who showed up on time and was very professional. One annoying aspect of the overall experience is that they required my wife and I to be at the "presentation" which was somewhat of an inconvenience to us as we both work and our schedules are difficult to sync up. They were quite insistent on both of us being present (more on this later). The Sales Presentation As a precursor to the presentation, the sales rep did thorough inspection of our roof (at no cost) which included an external (from the ground) and an internal (from within the attic) inspection. He presented us with the results, documented with pictures that he took in the attic. We also walked around the property and he pointed out concerns that he observed from the ground. In my opinion, his analysis was fair and confirmed my observations that we needed a new roof. The presentation was thorough (and lengthy ... it took approximately 2 hours). He presented the company approach to "roof replacement", described the whole roofing system they use and had samples of all the materials that they would be using. It was a very interesting discussion and educated us on the many aspects of roof replacement. A key point of the message was "that Power was not going to be the cheapest, but they were "high quaility" and that if we wanted a "cheap" job they were probably not the company to choose. I fully appreciated that and was still interested in using them but of course, the main question was "how expensiv is expensive?". At the end of the presentation, the sales rep quoted me the price which I found to be too high for us and at that point I was ready to call it a day with the conclusion that this was a good company with a premier product that was to rich for my blood. When I noted that it was too high for me, the sales rep then noted that he could reduce that price because he could apply some discounts (e.g., "market to our neighbor" discount and some others) AND accept the offer before he left. This is when they lost the job for me as I rarely take a deal when it has such a short time frame to make a decision. I, like many people, do not like this type of "pressure sales". With that being said, the presentation ended cordially and we were given an estimate that is good for a year should we decide to have the work done. The Follow up About 3 days later, I received a call back from the sales rep that he would like to meet with me again because he thought that he could give us a better price. I entertained the idea and we tried to set a time up, but again, he wanted to meet with me and my wife at the same time which was not going to happen. (We had already sat through the presentation and had a detailed understanding of the company and the product). A week or so later I received a call from another sales rep (assumed to be a manager) who wanted to meet with me to talk about new numbers. At this point I made it clear that my wife and I would not be available and that if we could offer me the quote right there we might be able to come to an agreement. His response was polite but firm "I am sorry but we don't work that way" to which I politely noted that I would have to "pass" on his offer. Conclusion My experience with this company has been reasonably good with respect to the actual product and installation. Their business model is to market to high end clients that are willing to pay for high quality product and service. They are up front with this philosophy, however when using them prospective clients need to be aware that they may not offer their "best an final" offer up front and you will need to be patient as they work through their "process" to get to that best and final offer. In this particular case I did not have that patience nor did I require such a high quality product at this time. However, understanding all this, it would not preclude me from using them in the future.
Description of Work: My wife and I met with Power Home Remodeling representatives in November/2015 to have our roof inspected and obtain an estimate for replacing it. We have used the company in the past to replace our garage doors and had a very positive experience (i.e., good service, good quality product). When the marketing representative came by my house again, I took the opportunity to engage them again. In the end, we chose not to use Power for this job because of the estimated expense.

I usually avoid door-to-door but have talked with this company several times over the years and they have good reviews on Angie's list and other sources. They are persistent but showed up on time and completed the job in one day. Cleaned up very well. Roof looks good. Price is probably toward high end for this job but I am very satisfied with their work and recommend them for exterior work.

There were three projects: windows, siding, and gutters. Consistently, we found the workmen to be courteous and really about their business. They worked diligently and left the worksite spotlessly clean and neat. There were a few concerns about the sales/office side of things. PROJECT 1A - WINDOWS The installer came in with a smile, introduction, and reviewed what would happen. He re-measured the windows (?measure twice cut once!?) then went out to get drop cloths. Our concern over not having the 4? space around each window recommended by the office he cheerfully dismissed with: ?We?re small people, it?s fine.? This 2-man team worked steadily and were finished installing 4 windows, framing 8, and repairing 2 window sills within a 9-hour period. PROJECT 2 - SIDING The crew arrived a little after 8am and set to work removing siding, insulation and the house?s original asbestos-laden shingles. It would?ve been nice to not have cigarette smoke wafting through the construction, there was one smoker. They were able to complete installation of insulation and siding on the back and most of the sides on demo day. A smaller crew returned around 9am the next day and were finished by 2pm. It looks great although the homeowner would?ve preferred to have the slats set so there were no line breaks visible across the front of the house. In the next day or two, a few small things were noticed which the quality inspector said someone would come out to remedy. PROJECTS 1B & 3 - GUTTERS A small crew came out to install a new gutter on the back of the house. They were finished probably within an hour. Work crew arrived a little after 9am and, after reviewing what needed to be done, got to work. Since only the front gutter and down spouts needed to be installed, they were finished around 9:45. Sadly, the flowers didn?t survive being covered by the tarp. GOOD THINGS Reviewing scope of work before starting Sending a quality inspector out at day?s end to not only check the work done but to address any concerns/complaints Courteous staff NOT SO GOOD THINGS HOURS-long initial sales process About 45 minutes after inviting buyer to comparison shop, sales rep was practically having her make a sacred vow that, once she signed the contract (right then, not after having time to comparison shop), she wouldn?t change her mind during the 3-day grace period. (Since she?d already decided to proceed, it was a moot point.) Quality inspection for Project 1 segued into sales pitch for Project 2 Rather than give time to arrange her own financing, they went with their usual arrangement. Power uses two banks to finance projects meaning two monthly bills for a single project (as it turned out, homeowner was able to get financing at a single institution at a rate 4 percent lower than what PHGR could arrange) Second downspout installed is, I think, more for cosmetics; it?s a modest-sized house. Now there?s nothing to channel the water away from the neighbor?s driveway or, now I think of it, to keep the newly planted elephant ears from drowning from water deluging their space Homeowner changed her mind about having the front gutter replaced. She called the office and explained that the gutter had just been installed just a few months earlier. On installation day, before work started, I called and spoke with a project manager. He explained that they didn?t put gutters back up once removed because it might void a warranty in place. Since that wasn?t the case for us, I was told that the new soffit and fascia could be ?tucked in? around the gutter. Homeowner talked to onsite project manager; he initially agreed to leaving the gutter in place but later came back to say it would be replaced because that?s what was in the contract. So although they did the install at no cost, homeowner still lost out on the cost of the ~4-month old guttering that was torn down and trashed. Being a researcher by trade, I went to Nolo* (a consumer legal information website) and other sources and learned that it is possible to change the terms of a contract if both parties agree and before work begins. To be sure, I called the Consumer Protection Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. The volunteer there agreed it was possible but stressed that this depends on the language of the contract. *Stim, R. Amending an Existing Contract. Nolo.com SUMMARY This big house upgrade stemmed from concerns about the condition of the house, not to pretty up. The house feels better and I believe the electric bill has come down a bit in the almost 2 months since the windows were installed. With the exception of those few details mentioned earlier, the house looks great and, without the nuisance of having to pay two banks, we?re satisfied.
Description of Work: 1. Replaced 4 windows, reframed 8 (exterior), and repaired 2 window sills (interior) 2. Removed siding, original shingles and insulation and put up new insulation, siding, and trim. 3. Replaced front and back gutters and front soffit and fascia

Work crews showed up on time both days. David Horn, the project manager followed through on both days. QC inspector Adam Zettler was thorough and professional, as well as a nice young man. Window work crew, William and Eddie, assisted by Dave, did a superb installation on the window. Siding work crew, Jose & his guys were professional craftsmen. The siding job looks like a million bucks! Ian, the initial salesman, was knowledgeable and professional. Both projects were worth every penny. The workmanship was excellent. From start to finish, the project exceeded all our expectations. We were sufficiently impressed to order another job, replacing our front entrance door. We suspect the workmanship will be excellent, since William and Eddy are the ones who will come back to do that project. Highly recommend this outfit. Glad to talk about it.

Power Home Remodeling Group's team, was patient and supportive during our decision-making process which included dealing with our home owners' association. The attitude of all Power Home Remodeling members was consistently professional, pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Appointments for sales, pre-installation inspection, and installation were at our convenience and all went exceeding smoothly. The installation crew worked very efficiently and did a beautiful job. They also cleaned up all outside areas leaving yard, deck and porch neater than found. The statement that "you get what you pay for" could not be more true when it comes to a roofing installation.
Description of Work: Removed old roof, skylight, and shutters. Installed new shingles, increased size of ridge vent, installed Power Vent, all new polyester underlayment and flashing, new skylight, new shutters.

I usually make it a practice of never buying anything from someone going door to door. This purchase was definitely different. When two young men came to our door in early June of this year, we decided to see what it would cost to replace the doors and perhaps a few of the drafty windows in our house, not thinking that it was anything more than just information for future purchase. When the sales representative followed up, we were very interested in the company and the manufacturer of the window and doors and ended up ordering all of our 21 windows and 3 doors to be replaced in our home. These were installed in the last week of August over a two day period. The actual installation went well over the two days with very few issues to be resolved. I was very impressed with the thoroughness. Throughout the order process and before installation the windows and doors everything was measured carefully several times. The crew was careful to cleanup thoroughly afterward. They were professional and courteous throughout. The crew finished i n the early evening of the second day and after a cursory inspection we signed off on the job. However, in the light of the daylight the next day we were bothered by 3 small cosmetic issues with the front door installation. We continued to be bothered by these issues whereupon we emailed the Project Concierge was assigned to us before the job (a very good feature of the company by the way.) We were called shortly after that. We emailed photos of the issues and were promptly given a date and time that someone would come to fix the problems. The men came at the appointed time and resolved all 3 of the problems to our satisfaction. Summary: Power Home Remodeling Group stands by their work and by theproducts that they install. If you are not happy, they will make it right. Your warranty covers the work and the windows and doors and any other materials that they install. The warranty is fully transferable to a new owner in the event that you sell the home. You are given a Project Concierge at the beginning of the project and you can call or email them at any time. The installation is done over the shortest period of time and the crews are polite and considerate of the inconvenience and also consult the homeowner as the project proceeds. So far we are very happy with the windows and doors and 2 of our neighbors have commented on how nice it looks and wanted to know about the company.

Power comes knocking on my door almost once a month. Since I work from home I usually wind up speaking with the rep and twice I asked for them send some one over to work up a quote for some roof work. Why twice? Well, the first time I had an appointment set up for 11AM and set aside some time to speak to the sales person. The night before I received a call from Power to confirm my appointment. The day of the appointment at the time of the appoint, I received a call from the sales rep confirming the appointment. I told him I was waiting for him right than. He told me he could come by in a couple of hours! I told him to forget it and he got very upset and told me this was standard practice and there was a "window" of time that he worked within. Well, my window closed and I was pretty p*****. A couple of months later yet another rep knocked on my door. When I told him about my previous experience he assured me that would not happen again and they had new policies and new people. So, I set up another appointment and can you believer the exact same thing happened! The sales rep called me at the time of the appointment to confirm! I told him I set time aside to meet with him and expected him at the time of the appointment not some time later. He told me to re-schedule and gave me a number to call....ha. ha no way! I will never use Power not would I ever recommend this company.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. We never want a customer walking away from their experience with the company feeling as you do. We have a confirmation process in place for all of our appointments to ensure the set time is still convenient for the homeowner. Unfortunately, if we are unable to confirm the appointment with the homeowner ahead of time, we are also unable to send a sales rep out. After reading your review I looked into our system to try and determine what occurred relating to your scheduled appointment. It looks like we were unable to confirm your appointment ahead of time, which is why the sales rep did not arrive at the time of the appointment. If you have any questions, or wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to reach out. They were a little delayed (weather or another job- do not know.) It was threatening rain all day. The crew that came worked for six hours and got the job done in one day, despite some obstacles from previous work done by someone else before I purchased the house. They took out part of my home alarm system - and the alarm company must come to fix that - but I knew that would happen - they told me before the install. Well satisfied with the work. The crew was courteous and professional. The only thing is that they cleaned up too well. They took the box with UPC needed to fill out the manufacturer warranty on the lock. Also no one knew how to reprogram the electronic lock. I will call the manufacturer and should get help from them. Too late in the day to call them when work was done. I have had a lot of work done by this group and am happy with everything.

These people are sales people not contractors. Their quote for the work was 3 to 4 times more than the other quotes I received for the same work using GAF shingles. The sales pitch were very long and the sales guys showed up 1 hour later to my house during our dinner time. When I ask him to leave he just continued going on about the sales. I used to work in sales and I know he is taught to close the deal, but when we are clearly not interested in the service, he just need to quit trying. I would recommend deal with a local contractor that will give you an estaimte in 30 mintues and provide you the full proposal on the same day. The sales guys woudn't even let me keep the estimate, because he knows it is way too high. Don't deal with anyone that randomly shows up at your door and offer home services. If this company is so great, then I don't think they would need to implment this type of high pressue sales tatics.

We never want a customer walking away from their first impression with the company feeling as you do and we certainly understand your concern about the discrepancy in price for the quotes you received. That being said, in our 23 years of business and over 250,000 installations that we’ve completed, we’ve never been the cheapest option – but we’ve always delivered one of the best experiences in the industry. Our belief is that $10,000, $12,000, $15,000 is a significant amount of money. But for the scope of the work you requested, installing a project for that price is going to leave you dissatisfied with the quality of the product and the level of service and communication received. We’ve seen this exact scenario play out hundreds of times. Due to the significant amount of the project, the homeowners are forced to keep the inferior product - often times incorrectly installed – which often times results in a very expensive learning experience. At Power, we feel it is always better to invest a little more than you thought than to not invest as much as you should have. From start to finish they did a superb job. The initial sales person took measurements and provided a quote. The pre-install person came by a week later and confirmed the measurements and what we wanted. We changed the color of the outside shudders. On install day the crew arrived on time and worked hard all day. They had to rebuild two window openings as the wood was rotten in one and the other was trashed by a previous installer. The stuck by their price and the completed product looks and works great!

I only went through the sales pitch and pricing with them. They were way, way too expensive. They use all top-of-the-line materials and probably do an awesome job, but they are out of my price range. Their estimate for the roof alone was about *4 times* the estimate from other, reliable, "A" recommended, Angie's List roofers. And they wanted to upsell me other services to double that price! They apply a low key hard sell. They keep you for an extremely long time - hours - I think the first hour was just about the company alone, we went two hours before we started actually talking about my roof, and total sales pitch time over two visits was about 4 hours.. They try to wear you down, hoping you'll buy just so you didn't waste all that time. Part of the hard sell is "X% off but you must buy today". That leaves me cold. When I said no, too expensive, suddenly they started finding more and more ways to drop the price, and even called weeks later to offer to lower it further. This gave me a sleazy feeling - why couldn't you have quoted a fair price to begin with? Even after all the discounts they offered they were still much more than 2 times more expensive than the others. They seem to use the topmost of the line materials, and probably do the work super professionally. I thought of them as the Mercedes of roofs, and that's OK. Maybe not for me, but that's OK. There are plenty of people with that kind of money. But then the outrageous high-ball initial price and continual discounts made them appear shady.

A company representative came to my door offering a free, no obligation estimate for a roof replacement. I spent 10-15 minutes with him answering questions about the house & was very clear that I was only looking for an estimate on a roof at this time & not interested in a sales pitch, financing, siding, windows, or any other offer. He reassured me that they would take measurements from the ground, produce the estimate & answer any questions. He put me on the phone with a scheduler who asked the same questions & scheduled the estimate for that evening at 7:30. At 7:15, I got a third call from the company asking to push the estimate back to 8:00, and asked the same questions a third time. When I balked at answering the same questions again and reiterated that i wanted the estimate the company offered and based on that information, would make a decision on future work, he emphasized the other services the offered, such as siding & window replacement & explained that they would take measurements & show options for the work. I reiterated that I was only interested in a roof estimate at this time, not a sales pitch, he cancelled the appointment. I told him several times that I wanted an estimate, but wasn't going to spend time looking at samples at this time. He became belligerent & rude, refused to give his name & ended up hanging up on me. As the consumer, I expect professional behavior from a vendor, like I received from the first two representatives of the company. The third rep lost the business for his company for 2 reasons; he was unwilling to follow through & provide the service the company offered, and his condescending, rude attitude.
Description of Work: Refused to provide the promised service. Rude & unprofessional, hung up on me. Lost a potential customer

Earlier this year, in June, I had Powers HRG replace the gutters on the house, that went perfectly from beginning to end. Although I found the sales pitch too lengthy, the quality and timeliness of the work was great. This time the work was timely, but did not go perfectly. The first hiccup occurred when it was discovered after the shingles were removed, that all the plywood would need to be replaced. The project manager showed me, pictures, and I also climbed a ladder to see more closely the damage to the plywood. Then the project needed to change to include getting and replacing the plywood, plus the added cost. Although I eventually went with getting the additional financing through my own bank, the project manager helped to get the additional cost financed through the company's finance option. The second thing that went awry was a bigger problem due to my house having cathedral ceilings. A workman's foot slipped and punched through the ceiling drywall. After we both determined the worker was not hurt, they very quickly got a piece of drywall to repair the hole the same afternoon. The next day they had someone spackle and paint the patch. The patch looks great. They put down drop cloths, and completely cleaned up after as well. The last issue occurred at the end of the day. Even though no rain had been predicted, a sudden storm appeared, and it started raining as the crew was putting down tarps, to cover the roof. The crew then left, but enough wind came up with the rain to blow the tarp in one area of the roof. Rain started coming in through a window, because the tarp had moved. When I called the project manager, he had the crew turn around and come back and replace the tarp correctly, and add more weight to keep it in place. The rain no longer came in through the window. Then the next day the work proceeded normally and smoothly. The roof looks great, my roof is now solid and in good shape, and they did a great job in cleaning up. The dumpster was removed that day the work was completed. I gave the Power HRG an excellent rating, because I felt that it was more impressive that the work was done well, and completely when the job was actually had some issues. Then the gutter job that went smoothly from beginning to end. The only negative thing I have to say is, that the sales pitches seem long, and take awhile, although I did like that they outlined exactly what steps the job would have. The other point that made them worth a higher price than some others, was adding an intake ventilation, on a house that has no attic, or soffits to allow the roof to breathe.
Description of Work: Removed existing shingles, replaced existing plywood, add a ridge vent and an intake ventilation vent, new shingles and the rest of the steps in the Power HRG roof system.

Crew was very professional and careful. Put plastic down over everything and prepped areas before work. The window installation was quick and well done. The crew cleaned up after themselves and removed all trash. At the final walk thru we discovered one section of window that was not caulked and they came back and caulked it right away. Everyone I dealt with at Power Home Remodeling was a delight. Great company and the windows are beautiful!
