Description of Work: Needed to remove gate, saw off part of the frame and replace the gate so it will close. Gate is very heavy and thick. Karl was able to figure out to do it that works and still looks ok. It took about 2 hours

Description of Work: Mr Fixit was sought to place a number of paintings, plaques and other wall hung artworks desired for completion before Thanksgiving 2012 in our house. There were approximately 15-20 items and was accepted almost immediately. It was not necessary to acquire additional equipment or tools. Quality of work was excellent. We have acquired services of Karl Kosok several times. He is highly recommended.

+ -1 moreKarl is great. He arrived on time, evaluated the different projects I was interested in having him work on, gave me quotes then went ahead and did the work. He's a very pleasant guy who sets you at ease. He's willing to tackle most jobs and will tell you if he thinks he can't. He came back a second time several weeks later when my sump pump failed and the basement was at risk of flooding. He arrived around 7 PM and worked until about 10:30 until the new pump was working properly. He was a life-saver!
Description of Work: Replaced molding around two doors damaged by a dog, fixed shed door, gave estimates on additional work. Second visit several weeks later to replace broken sump pump

+ -1 moreKarl was professional and proficient in his work skills. He answered all my emails and calls promptly, gave email advice, provided accurate rate information over the phone, called to confirm appointment ime, and did a great job.
Description of Work: I had a tub stopper that was stuck in the open position, and nothing I could do would free up the mechanism. I don't know how he did it, but in less than an hour, Karl had removed the old mechanism, cleaned out the drain and installed a totally new device.

I asked him to come give an in-person estimate so it would be more accurate and I would have it in writing and he complied. Karl arrived on time to do the work and did a great job. My one complaint is that he charged me about $200 more than the estimate. He does charge by the hour and both jobs took longer than he thought. But he sure didn't estimate very accurately. When I saw the bill, it was a bit of a shock!
Description of Work: Half of the stairs in my two story condo had no backs on them. Karl installed backs so the stairs would all look uniform. He also installed a new thermostat.

+ -1 moreGreat! Karl came very well prepared (his van is loaded with tools and bits of wood). He and my husband worked together on a few of the projects and that went very smoothly. Karl certainly knows his stuff! He is friendly, professional, and prompt. He offered to come at an earlier date when we discussed the work because we are trying to get settled into a new house.
Description of Work: Karl reversed a interior door for us (so that the doorknob is on the left rather than right), hung new wall cabinets in the laundry room, study, and two bathrooms, installed new base cabinets in the laundry room, installed counter top in the laundry room, repaired two deadbolts on exterior doors. Installed missing wood toe kicks on several cabinets.
