They did the work before we moved in while the house was empty for a week. We had to trust that everything would go smoothly and it did. The floors look wonderful and seem to be holding up great.

The company provided an excellent service, they were on-time every day and completed the project one day ahead of schedule. They treated our furniture with care and made sure to seal every room, so when they worked on the floors, the dust would not get into other rooms. My only minor complaint is, I wish they would have replaced or discussed with me the replacement of a few pieces of hardwood floor to make it look better.

We chose this outfit as it came highly recommended by a friend and the price was right. For what we needed (refinishing already existing hardwoods), they gave an over-the-phone estimate of $3-4/sq. foot (based on the quality of the existing wood). We were hoping to get this service done in a VERY tight time-frame in the days between the previous owner moving out of our house and our moving date. They were happy to oblige, coming out for an estimate on a Wednesday, returning the following morning to start the job, and finishing by Friday. Our floors look gorgeous and very move-in ready! Our only real complaint was that they were hard to get a hold of at the beginning of process (pre-estimate). It is a small outfit, so you really are working one-on-one with the owner, and you are at the mercy of his getting back to you. But, I would not hesitate to use this excellent company again!

Montgomery Floor Services was one of about 7 companies that I had come out to bid on a fairly large staining and refinishing job in a home we’d recently purchased that was undergoing a complete renovation. These included a couple of the big local names along with independent, single-crew vendors. After reviewing the work with the other vendors and not feeling overly confident, I was referred to Alberto, the owner, by another contractor who I've worked with for several years on a lot of different projects. He was able to come out quickly and we discussed what we were trying to achieve. The floors in the house were original, unstained oak from 1995, and we had also just installed some new hardwood in a large room which had previously been carpeted. We had three goals: apply a dark stain that wouldn't overemphasize oak's dark grain to achieve a more consistent color, ensure that the new hardwood came out looking the same as the old floors, and find a reasonable price. Alberto delivered on all 3, and he and his team did it in half the time the large companies said it would take. Alberto was very knowledgeable about wood types, stains, and finishes, and did an excellent job at figuring out how to do what we wanted given the materials. He did several tests to get the right color, then had his team apply water to the floors just before staining to achieve the kind of modern, consistent color we were looking for, avoiding the 70’s high-contrast “zebra” striping that can happen with staining oak. Very few of the other vendors understood this problem, and the ones who did came in at thousands more. His price was very fair, his team was cautious and clean with very little dust, the work was done quickly, and the end result is beautiful floors. I rehab homes for a living, and because this is my own house I took a lot of interest in getting this vendor choice right. I can’t imagine using another company for any hardwood job going forward.
