The owner of this company, Gil Martinez, came to my home to measure two storm doors and to provide me with a quote to install the doors and to repair the door frames. He told me the doors were 36X80 and made a recommendation on the specific doors to purchase at Home Depot, which I did. We also agreed upon, in writing, a specific deposit amount, which I paid, with the understanding that the balance would be paid upon completion of the stated work. He arrived to my home and was 3/4 of the way through fixing one of the door frames when he told me the doors were the wrong size; now, he told me the doors should be 32x80 and told me, "don't worry, it's not your fault." We returned the doors to Home Depot, and I purchased two new doors in the 32x80 size. The doors were on special order and would take about 2 weeks to arrive. Gil told me his company would finish repairing the door frames when they came back to install the new doors. He also repainted the flashing on my deck which he badly scratched when he haphazardly threw the old screens around without consideration for my home. He asked if I could pay some more deposit monies up front since they were not able to complete the job as he incorrectly measured the doors. I agreed to out of good faith, as Gil told me he would return to finish the job. When I reached out to him to tell him that the new doors were arriving on a particular date, he told me he was now too busy to finish the job he contracted with me. So, he basically left me with a half-finished repair job, no doors installed, and a false promise of returning to finish the job. I am being punished for his measuring mistakes. And by the way, the doors aren't 32x80 either, as a new contractor has determined. I am filing complaints with the appropriate authorities to have the additional monies I paid to him returned, and to let the Maryland licensing board know of Mr. Martinez' business practices. Needless to say, I would never personally use this company again.
