Masters Of The Lawn

I have been using Masters since May 2009 and provided a review on Angie's List on May 5, 2015. Jorge, the owner, is responsive and willing to come out and give estimates for work not normally performed, e.g., a huge branch from my neighbor's yard came down on my shed during a storm, dangled precariously for a week and then snapped. Jorge said his company did not have the huge ladders or equipment to climb the tree and gave me the name of another company that could do it. The other company was too busy so I asked Rachel, the Office Manager, if they could at least cut half the branch to take the pressure off the shed. Masters' crew came out the very next day, slung ropes around that tree and took that branch down. It was like a circus act - they did a terrific job, and cleaned up, all for a very reasonable price. This year I was lucky enough to get Wagner and Maximo to mow and trim my front and back yard. Wagner is the ultimate professional: I call him the Master of the Edger as he does the work with geometric precision and cuts the grass so it looks like a golf course. My yard has never looked this great since Wagner came along. Maximo does the blowing and takes care that the clippings don't fall on my flower beds. They are always on time, extremely reliable and make sure to close all gates when they leave. Rachel even offered to replace a window well when it got accidentally nicked but I declined. I cannot recommend this company enough for their dedication, courtesy and fine work. Hats off especially to Wagner! Try to get him if you can.

I think we got them through Angie's List. I was happy that I was able to negotiate a price with them. I asked them to do twice a week but they would not do that. It seems like it is more expensive than my previous lawn mower. If you give directions they do it. They don't have a time; you just get put on the schedule and then they mow your lawn when they get to it. They try to do you every Wednesday. Their punctuality is fine for the field that they are in. We just auto pay.

Masters of the Lawn did an amazing job clearing away years of growth from our Mother's property. They continued providing service by cutting grass every two weeks ongoing through the Summer and Fall. We paid from a distance, and would recommend this company with great enthusiasm. It was challenging to find a company that would perform the required services, send us photos (we live in the Chicagoland area), and not take advantage of us nor our aging parent.

I have been using Masters of the Lawn since May 2009. Their prices are very reasonable. They are extremely punctual and if they have been unable to mow because of rain they catch up as soon as it's dry. They do not require an annual contract and one year when I was having my patio and front walk repaired and mowing could not be done they were very reasonable, did not charge me even though it disrupted their schedule, and just caught up again when the patio work was finished. They will always try to fit you in even if you drag your feet and don't call until the last minute, like this spring when it seemed the snow would never end. I have plastic window wells that are very susceptible to breakage because of those devilish weed whackers. Two years in a row Jorge da Costa, the owner, has had them replaced at no cost to me. The company has done this at a loss as the labor and cost of replacing them was quite high. This year I decided to block off the area so they don't need to trim anywhere near the wells. Rachel, the Office Manager, is very prompt about returning calls and does an excellent job with e-mail correspondence. She is courteous, professional, competent and a pleasure to deal with. Jorge goes out of his way to provide excellent service to his customers and makes sure that they are satisfied. Joel does my lawn because the other crews had problems with my window wells. If you are lucky enough to get Joel, you will be very pleased as he works hard, does a thorough job and the results are excellent. His trimming and edging are neat, he edges around the pavers, and I cannot recommend him, Jorge and Rachel highly enough.

Price was rock-bottom. $30 per lawn more was significantly lower than other providers. Quality was consistent with price: specifically, the guys cutting the lawn didn't speak English, so communicating with them was virtually impossible. I had to send an email to customer service and then they had to relay to the team. When i asked for the lawn to be cut a certain way, it was not modified to meet my reasonable request. Really good price, but way too much time spent managing the lawn-cutting process. To their credit, they have expressed an interest in improving their service for next year, so I'm considering giving them a second-chance.

It was OK although there arrival dates were a little difficult to pin down but they managed to show up well enough to stay on top of the leaf and twigs blowing. They were not very well supervised, however, and the boss, George, who is a very responsible person, was usually not with them and it was hard to know who was in charge. The reason I am not continuing with them is because I have retained a new service which provides all garden work within their group. Previously, I had been working with as many as four different services and it was too complicated.

They generally show up on time, quickly mow the lawn and are off again. In autumn they also blow leaves to the curb.

We have used Masters of the Lawn for 2 years and plan on using them next year as well. They are punctual and very reasonable. It is hard to contact them by phone, but they respond to e-mails very fast. There were a couple of instances we were not very happy with the job, and they sent someone to redo it the same week. I have absolutely no hesitation recommending them.

Masters of the Lawn provides good service. They always come on schedule and do a good, job. In addition to mowing the lawn, they always remove all leaves and other debris in the yard. We also have them trim our shrubs, mulch, etc. and clean up the leaves every fall. They are fairly reasonably priced.

Jorge took care of my parents lawn for many years as well as mine. He was great to work with and never disappointed. I stopped having him come to my house because of financial issues but am hopeful to bring him back next year. They will do as much or as little as you ask of them and reliably show up within a certain timeframe, weather permitting of course.

The entire experience was very good, from the initial phone call to the service provided. They are very professional and work at a reasonable price. I could not be happier

I have been using them for about four years now. They are very good.

I first called Masters of the Lawn nearly a month ago to request an estimate. I was told the owner was out of the country and that it may take some time to get an estimate. To my surprise, a week later I found an estimate in my mailbox. Apparently, someone came to my property when I was not home and did a survey. I called back to schedule service and was told that the owner was still away and that I would not be able to make an appointment until he returned. I called a week later to see if I could make an appointment and was told that I should expect to hear from someone on September 30. September 30 came and went with no call. Finally, I called October 4 and was able to get an appointment for October 8. George came out and took a look around and then told me he did not have time to do the job and that it would cost nearly twice the estimate! I rescheduled but have now taken to looking for yard help on Craigslist as everyone on Angie's List so far seems to be overpriced or unresponsive when it comes to basic yard care. Perhaps I would have better luck if I were looking for a higher value service like a full overhaul of my yard.

They do good work for a reasonable price. I can count on them to do what we ask.

An amazing transformation of my yard, which now looks 20 times better than before, and will undoubtedly increase the curb appeal of my house (which I am trying to sell). Very impressed with the quality of their work and their reasonable price. They responded very quickly to my request for an estimate, and once I accepted their offer, they were able to complete the work within one week. I am very happy with the result.

Great service, cheap and good quality. We live in NW DC and since we started using them, I have not needed to pull out the mower even once. Saves a ton of time and lets us focus on the other 1000000 things going on.

We have used this company for several years and they do an excellent job. There is attention to detail when mowing the lawn and cleaning the driveway. The fall and spring clean up, gutters included, are excellent.

It's been a long time since we were so universally pleased with a service provider! After receiving their estimate and several others, we decided to choose Masters of the Lawn. They were the least expensive option. I called on Monday afternoon to confirm service and by the next afternoon, my lawn had already been mowed. Their spring clean up and mulching service was fast and beautiful - my yard has not looked this good since we moved in. Everything was neat and tidy, and it made us want to spend a lot more time outside! Their mowing service is great (they even move my toddler's toys out of the way). We are so happy to have this service set up!

I must say that I am very disappointed, based on the great reviews Masters of the Lawn received here on Angie's List - it was a major factor in my choosing to engage them for my job, versus other companies we received estimates from. I scheduled my estimate in early March and within a week Masters of the Lawn were at my house to provide an estimate. The quote I was given was fair - very close to the three other estimates I received from other companies. I received my service quote on March 14, 2012 and immediately called the main office to accept the estimate and schedule a date for the work to be completed. However, I was told (upon calling to schedule) that no specific date would be given - simply, the work would be completed within 2 weeks. The receptionist told me to call back if the work wasn't completed within two weeks. Two weeks passed and I called to find out when the crew would provide the service. THe receptionist then told me that it would and quot;be at least three more weeksand quot; before the crew came to my town (?) As I have an important event at my house next week, I had to cancel the service. So, unless you are comfortable waiting indefinitely for your yard service, I am not sure I would use this company, regardless of the quality of actual work they do. Timing is also an important element of service.

We have been happy with them and have been using them for quite a while. Other people in the neighborhood use them too. They were here this week with the mulch and the last week they were cleaning out the dead stuff in the garden. In the summer they mow about once a week. We think they are reasonably priced. My husband is a gardener and knows a lot about gardening. He cares a lot about it than I do and he is been happy with them so they are quite good and we would recommend them. Our overall experience with them has been good. My husband has never complained about them and they do what he wants them to do promptly.

Jorge came out, did the estimate. He was not sure of schedule, but showed up several hours later. He and his team did an excellent job. The work was meticulous, and we were most appreciative of the cleanliness and removal of leaves and grass cuttings. Definitely worth the several day wait for us. (I did get an email about 48 hours that they were coming out).

We pay $25 for mowing, they do minor clean-up along with that. When we need additional services they are happy to provide an estimate before scheduling the work and take care of things quickly. They are willing to come back and address any issues with your service for 2 weeks after work was completed. Any question or problem I have had has been addressed promptly. I would highly recommend them. I contacted them for an estimate of their mowing and yard clean-up and mulching service. They came out quickly and gave their estimate. We chose them over a couple of other options based on promptness and price. We have been using them for about 4 years and get our lawn mowed biweekly. This mowing schedule is easily adjustable if you give them enough notice. They do not mow if there are drought conditions and the grass has not grown at all/
