MARK PLOW'S FIREWOOD & MULCH

We've used Mark for firewood for many years. Prompt/courteous delivery, fulfills order, fair price. And it's good wood -- all cut to proper/consistent length, and burns well -- not like fire-resistant load we had from another vendor some time ago. Negative reviews/ratings are puzzling -- sounds like a different company!. Better number to use than what's listed here: 703-565-3435

Not sure what's happened to him or why. I'm very sad that I have to find a new wood provider. Though he didn't usually show up on the first promised day, his price, quality and attitude up until 2012 were second to none. Great guy that always delivered with a smile. Sometimes he's bring it out himself and I'd have the treat of talking with him for a few minutes!!! After reading his review I was frustrated by having to get a "face cord" from some guy in DC and called him out on his responsiveness. After sending the text Mark called 15 seconds later and I listened a verbal meltdown on the phone about how I have no idea how many people call his phone during the day, he just had a tragedy happen in his life, how good he's treated me over the years and if I wanted to get wood elsewhere nothing would make him happier. Why did I deserve that? I was just looking to buy some wood, know how much to make the check out for and have some idea when he was going to get it here. He then apologized and said Sunday the 22nd was the best he could do and I had his word that it would be there. I again tried to narrow the price and amount as well as suggest that the 26th or 27th may be better since he was so bogged down with life and work but never heard back from him until Friday the 24th of January with some attitude filled text full of typo's suggesting something to the effect he tried to deliver that Sunday and gave up after I sent him a courtesy text saying I would be out until 2pm or so. I sent the text that day hoping he would call me so we could coordinate dumping the wood and me getting payment to him somehow since he never told me how much or confirmed he was coming. It's frustrating to try numerous times to call someone to find out how much was being brought and how much it cost and for him to not show up on the promised day.

I have used Mark for firewood for the last five years. Great guy, really pleasant. Shorts me on the firewood every year. Each year, I plead with him to give me an honest measure. Each year, when I stack the wood, it is always less than the full cordage that I ordered. Mark is perfectly pleasant and brings out more wood to make me whole but it is a total pain to have to call him again and again each year to get him to bring out the right amount. This year, no answer on his phone. Evenings and weekends it rings 8 times, goes to voicemail and then the voicemail is full. During the day it rings once and goes straight to the full voicemail box. Hard to order firewood even if I wanted to.

Mark has always had high quality firewood, but I found it very unprofessional to stand up a long-standing customer like myself 5 times.

Overall, this company used to be able to respond to firewood delivery requests within a week. This year I was given a delivery date, which was a no show. The second time I was given a delivery date, and another no show. I kept calling and was unable to speak with a person nor could I leave an email. My guess is the mailbox was full of others trying to get their wood deliveries.

Some trees could be used for lumber, others great for firewood. Since Mark has a lumber mill and sells firewood all around the price was lower than someone who just cuts trees. Mark conducts business as if he were still in the outback - his word pretty much binds. I wanted a contract, so he produced one but it seemed coincidental to him. He did an excellent job, trees fell where they were supposed to, stumps cut close to the ground, no brush left. No chip grinding and chips left behind since he uses the wood. All the others would have left mounds of chips. All went smoothly. Mark is a hard working guy. His main tree guy had a wonderful mix of knowledge, practicality and skill combined with an ability to clearly explain.

Ordered firewood. Not delivered. Called company. Was told it will be the next day. Not delivered the next day. Called several days later after no deliveries. Set up new delivery date. Not delivered again. When called to find out why not delivered again and complain, was hung up on.
