This work was done through a time-related (hours of work) voucher. The crew worked diligently for the entire time and accomplished all the tasks agreed upon, with very satisfactory results.

The service provided was excellent. So good in fact that we will use them again. Very professional and did more than we expected.

I was very impressed with the work that was done - my yard looks terrific - and the two gentlemen who did the work. They arrived on time ( a little early even!!) and did everything I asked very thoroughly. They cleaned up after themselves and left the lawn bags organized for pickup. I would definitely hire them again.

It went well. Plants were moved, some landscaping to remove older brush (I found afterwards they were just cut off) was done. In general we were happy. Time will tell if the plants survive. I do feel though that the overall price was a bit steep, and this will influence my choice of service provider in the future.

They arrived half an hour after the promised 2-hour window, but got right to work. I asked about costs for seeding and fertilizing, but decided not to have them do that as their price was too high. They worked efficiently and when they were through, my yard actually looked better than when they arrived, despite the small clods of soil all over from the aeration. They cleaned up the walkways very nicely. The 2-man crew were polite and professional.

MA’s service was incomplete, unprofessional, and left damage to my driveway. Now we have to hire someone else to finish the jobs they started, fix the damage to the driveway, and they refuse to honor the $299 Angie’s List deal we purchased at all. We purchased the $299 Angie’s List deal for 8 hours of landscape labor and, after they contacted us after the purchase, MA said they would just charge us for materials and any extra labor at the deal price to finish all of the projects we had. Simple, right? Nope. We should have known better when MA insisted that we NOT buy the additional mulch deal from Angie’s List but do it directly from them (even though they listed it as an Angie’s list deal internally). To use the Angie’s List $299 labor deal we bought, MA insisted on a contract on a set pricing basis (edging = $XX price, etc.) not time and materials as we originally agreed. They said the Angie’s List $299 deal was only good for $250 off that contract. We told them that was not what we bought. After several conversations with the MA office staff over the phone, they finally agreed to let us use the Angie’s List deal for the full promotional value on OTHER work if we signed the contract. Since we had other work to do, had other contractors lined up by that point for work that depended on the landscaping being done, and we needed to get our plants in the ground immediately, we finally said okay to the contract. What a mistake. MA was the most unprofessional landscape company we’ve ever dealt with. The job is still left undone and, now, they refuse to honor the Angie’s List deal for 8 hours of labor. Nothing the MA crew did was right the first time and the MA owners provided no oversight of their crew. Though MA insisted that the main three-man crew was an experienced crew they used for 8 years, that crew either had no idea what they were doing or didn’t care at all about the quality of their work. More importantly, though, the crew lacked any direct oversight by MA’s owners. First, the crew did not know how to put plants in the ground properly. They started off by digging holes the same size as the plants’ root balls. When we asked to dig holes twice the size of the root ball (pretty standard), they complained repeatedly that digging holes was difficult (which is obviously why someone hires a company to do it in the first place). The crew also had to be shown how to (or perhaps cajoled into) breaking up the plants’ root balls as necessary. Indeed, the crew (with supposedly 8 years’ landscape experience) even complained repeatedly that the fertilizer we were using for the plants smelled like manure—no really, the landscape crew with years of experience actually complained that fertilizer smelled like manure. Second, the crew had no idea how to install landscape edging. Despite their (supposed) 8 years’ experience, the crew kept saying that they were still learning on the job—and it showed. At the start, they installed the plastic edging backwards without using the required landscape spikes. When asked to use spikes, they insisted that spikes were not necessary. After reading the MA owner (by phone, since he wasn’t onsite) the instructions for the edging from the box that said spikes were required, the owner finally capitulated, brought spikes, and then promptly left his workers there unsupervised. The crew, however, desperately needed oversight. With spikes in hand, they installed the landscape edging backwards, again. Once we talked them through the installation again (per the picture on the box), they installed—wait for it—the spikes backwards. Fourth time out, they finally got it right after we took some edging and demonstrated specifically how to do it. Third, topping all of that off, the crew damaged two sections of our driveway with their pick axes and shovels when installing the edging. And not just chipped—smashed to pieces. When MA was informed of the damage, they insisted that it might be preexisting (even though it was a brand new driveway, less than a year old) and that they would have to inspect it. So we sent MA the multiple videos that our security cameras caught of the crew damaging the driveway, laughing about it, and then trying to cover it up after we complained. Eventually, the MA owners reluctantly agreed to pay for the damage to the driveway after getting that video proof-positive evidence. Fourth, after all of that, the edging was not even completed. MA talked us into black metal edging for our walk that was 3 times more expensive than plastic. On the day of the work, MA brought rusted metal edging that they later admitted they previously removed from another site. After complaining, MA said they would replace it, but then decided—unilaterally—to not replace the incomplete metal edging after they (reluctantly) agreed to pay for the driveway damage. Fifth, for the downspout replacement, a different MA crew the next day (yes, a 3-man crew could not finish 120 feet of edging and planting about 50 plants in one full day of work) proved that training was seemingly lacking for all MA crews. That crew started the next day off by digging up nearly a dozen newly installed plants and several old plants to reroute the buried downspout that was just supposed to be replaced in the same location. According to the crew, it would be easier to just run it straight to the street. After we demanded that they get elbows to replace the downspout as agreed in the same location, they finally relented, got the elbows, and started to replace the existing pipe in the same location. Of course, once again, MA’s crew had little idea what they were doing—and absolutely no managerial oversight at all. They tried to glue the PVC extension without first dry-fitting it to get the right pitch and by applying PVC cleaner/glue only to one pipe/fitting. Last, we asked the crew to leave 2 bags of mulch for us to use when we put in some plants on the side in the coming weeks. The crew left (and did not spread) 15 bags of mulch instead (25% of the mulch we paid to be spread), leaving only just an inch of new mulch on the new bed (which was supposed to have three inches). In the end, we had hoped to use the Angie’s List deal for labor for our other remaining projects once MA provided better supervision for their workers and fixed the projects they left unfinished or property damaged as promised. But, after conceding to the driveway damage, MA unilaterally said they would not finish the job we contracted for and would not honor the $299 Angie’s List deal, period. Such a vindictive response to a legitimate client complaint (backed up by rock-solid video evidence) is shocking, particularly when there is work left undone. MA is simply not a good company to hire for big landscaping jobs. I see a lot of great reviews for them on Angie’s List, so perhaps they are good for simple jobs, e.g., cleaning up a bed, raking leaves, or basic lawn care. But clearly they lack the management expertise and experience to perform professional landscape services beyond that. At bottom, though, regardless of the size of the job to be done, a reasonable person should definitely not hire a company that has owners who think they can unilaterally breach contracts, break promises, and refuse to perform work on contracts or on promotional deals purchased through Angie’s List.

Bought Angie's list deal for lawn aeration. Decided to get over-seeding too. The biggest issue was it was extremely hard to get in contact with company - emails take 2-3 days to get a response, phone calls do not get returned. After I settled on a date and agreed to pay extra service multiple times, the actual work performed was pretty straightforward. Apparently, there are two separate teams to aerate and over-seed.

They did a wonderful job -- got more done in a few hours than I would have in a month's worth of weekends -- and were kind and courteous from start to finish. Every time I step outside, I'm grateful to myself for hiring them.

Had to cancel due to the weater, but were very good about keeping in touch and the work was completed. They did an excellent job and will use them again in the future.

The company was incredible. The team showed up on time and got startes right away. I've never seen landscapers work so quickly! We were concerned that they would run out of daylight before they finished, but they took care of removing over a dozen rose bushes and other bushes, weeding our massively overgrown landscaping, and edging the garden beds. They finished before the allotted time was up so we informed them they could leave, but they spent the remaining time making sure everyrhing looked perfect.

Great! They were on time (early in fact) and cleaned up the sidewalk after they were done.

Experienced some delays in getting service scheduled but otherwise the actual service went very well.

It went very well. The yards front & back looked fantastic!

Was scheduled for the AM but they arrived around 2:30. The aeration equipment was rudimentary. A 6 prong aeration punch was ineffective, it did not make holes as much as it disturbed the top 3/4inch of lawn. The small concrete weights and the hard soil made for a less than effective work. A second motor driven machine aerator was a little better. Directions to stay away from certain areas, freshly seeded, were not followed but the attempt to get to every square foot was the motivation, so okay, nice try. Bottom line, if they do the work, make sure the lawn has been watered or a recent rain event softens the lawn.

The service was quick and as agreed.
