KingCaire Construction did a superb job on our basement renovation. Our space feels more welcoming, warm, safe, and overall more inhabitable! Besides installing a new ceiling and lighting, and flooring, and stair bannister, his team addressed some long-standing and recent plumbing and electric issues. Billy was extremely responsive and the work was very reasonably priced and completed on time even after we added some new elements. The team were punctual, professional, and friendly. The team worked downstairs while we were home and took measures to keep us all safe in the covid environment. We would recommend and hire him again for future home improvement projects.

KIngCaire carried out a major seven month remodeling project on our large older house (over 100 years old) and did a superb job. Although we had an architect design the project, a number of unforseen challenges came up that were not apparent in the planning stages, such as some significant structural issues behind walls. Billy readily adapted to these and implemented very sensible, effective, and economical solutions, and kept this complex project on track. In addition, as the project proceeded, we made a number of changes and add-on requests to the original plans, such as the installation of custom made cabinets/bookshelves. Again, Billy worked closely with us and some of these add-ons turned out to be the highlights of the whole project. We were endlessly impressed by Billy's desire to do very high quality work but in the most economical way possible. We stayed in the house during the project and Billy and his team were exceptionally careful to work with us to minimize disruptions and inconveniences. The renovations exceeded our expectations and we could not be more pleased with the outcome.

KingCaire Construction did several different major projects for us including a full Kitchen re-model, Basement remodeling, Powder room, Attic construction and adding insulation. (work included- complex major plumbing. insulation, carpentry, insulation, Tiles, flooring, painting, and electrical work). They were extremely easy to work with and always really responsive. The team was professional, gave us honest advice for the project, resulting in cost-saving ideas, and ultimately the work they did was Beautiful and finished on time. Mr. Mulcaire and his team renovated both bathrooms in my condo, and did an excellent job. Very happy with how the bathrooms turned out, and the work came at a very fair price The team were punctual and professional throughout the job. Do not employ this company. Billy Mulcaire is dishonest, incompetent, rude, unprofessional and fraudulent with laughable “workmanship.” He overcharged me ($2600) to install metal flashing on my balcony railing to prevent water from leaking into the apt below. The work looked absolutely terrible- uneven, bumpy, with ridges and pockets that would collect water and dirt. I asked him to fix it and he tried to charge me another $1000! You know you're working with someone terrible when they do clearly awful work and then refuse to fix their mistake. I strongly suspect he would never have done that to a man. The work didn’t even last six months, and now I’m left with a PVC layer he put on top that’s raised an inch in places, with dips in others that collect puddles and dirt. The trim fell off, and it looks terrible. I asked Billy to fix it and he insulted me saying he "knows what I am like" and said he wouldn’t touch it. Worst contractor and worst human being I have ever encountered in my life.

"Sorry you are disappointed with the efforts we made to solve the water issues. As a reputable company we work diligently to keep you the customer satisfied. I decided to help my friend who owns the condo directly below Ms. [Member Name Removed] when he asked me to find the source of water damaging his ceilings etc. After following the leaks to Ms. [Member Name Removed]'s 3rd floor balcony, my friend offered my services to Ms. [Member Name Removed]. I decided to take on the repair to bail out my friend, literally. I was very clear on how we were going to solve the problems and as to the material and multiple layers we would use to eliminate the moisture problems. Ms. [Member Name Removed] recently had work done that resulted in the flow of rain water entering the building in several areas which is why the insurance refused to reimburse for the damage . After many failed DIY attempts I got involved. 125+ man hours later which included: removing the broken wrap around heavy metal railing, demolition of tile to access the scupper hole which was one of the moisture entry points which we rebuilt and added [Member Information Removed] waterproof layers then replaced the tile with new; we covered the balcony with several layers such as Ice and water shield, Weatherwatch roof leak barrier, custom metal flashing, Roof Mate fabric over top, 2 coats of Roof Mate base coat and 3 of Roof Mate top coat (a rubberized/elastomeric water proofer; repaired the broken railing and reset with new bolts. We also did [Member Information Removed] stucco repairs, repaired the rotten wood on door frame and sidelites, sealed a window which we had to use a harness to reach, painted the stucco and door frame entirely, repaired a leak beneath a bedroom window. All debris, material and tools were man carried up and down 3 levels of fire escape ladders. We power washed the yard and repaired the water pipes that were causing the mold and mosquito infestation. Although the process and finish had been explained in detail prior to the onset of the job, Ms. [Member Name Removed] explained that she wanted to place plants on top of the work we had done, which was not, and had never intended to be a smooth surface, but more of a rubberized textured finish. Even though the original scope of work had been completed we tried to accommodate your demands so we removed and reset a railing and placed FRP panel on top to protect the work. It was explained to Ms. [Member Name Removed] that this was only a thin layer of plastic attached by a clipping mechanism, so as not to damage the previous work with any penetrations, this was not part of the original job to solve the leakage of water damaging her property and that of her neighbor's. Upon a recent visit to the property to perform work on a neighboring unit, I was approached on the public street, with language, not suitable to share at any time. The scope of work paid $2,600, the real cost was $5,400+. Absolutely no leaks since which was the goal, at least the neighbors are happy people. We are all equal until shown different. The entire process from start to finish was professional, punctual, and good value for money. They are excellent and we highly recommend using them. They did what they said they'd do, when they said they'd do it. All the work was top quality and the workers communicated well and thoroughly at each stage. The entirely job took 1 and a half months, even given some very difficult weather (Dec-Jan). The team turned a dingy somewhat unsafe area into a bright, welcoming space that has added value to our lives and our house. In the basement, they laid a tile floor over the concrete; replaced the outdated acoustic-style tiles and fluorescent lighting with recessed lighting and plaster (raising the ceiling as well); replaced the rickety non-code staircase with an oak staircase (moving it back to provide more head height); built an alcove around the boiler, etc.; created and installed an enclosed shower, toilet, sink and mirror; painted the whole area; added a door going to the workroom area (old garage). On the deck, replaced all decking and railings, making it secure. Replaced 2 outdated grimy fabric awnings with smart porticoes that match our green roof shingles. Inside, repaired some water-damaged drywall upstairs. Fixed all the elderly electrical and plumbing issues (the house was built in 1938). They cleaned everything up inside and out very professionally.

This is the best general contractor - Billy, with whom I have had the pleasure of working. This is my third home renovation project in 15 years. Billy is a certified Master Carpenter, and it shows. I am looking forward to hiring his team again in the next two months for additional projects. Thanks to Angie’s list I was able to find this wonderful general contractor. Billy is my first choice for any construction project. He is the contractor’s contractor - he is THAT good.

Billy (the owner) and his team did a fantastic job! When we purchased an older home as-is, we knew it was going to need quite a bit of work. The plaster ceilings upstairs had major cracks that were actively crumbling, and we hired Billy to take out the whole ceiling and replace with drywall. Billy stopped by to take a look and talk us through our options. He provided us with a quote right away that was very reasonable, and was able to get started almost immediately thanks to a break in a different project. Over the course of a few days, Billy and his team worked tirelessly on what turned out to be a challenging job! The ceilings were essentially several inches of very heavy concrete that took a lot of work to get out, plus one of the rooms had custom bookcases that needed to be carefully removed and set aside to access the ceiling. Billy's crew showed up on time every day and worked through tirelessly. Billy even threw in some extra insulation at no additional charge! The guys even worked over the weekend to make sure it was finished with minimal disruption to us. They did a great job of ceiling off the closets and other rooms to keep the space clean as well. They also did a beautiful job tailoring the new drywall to fit our ceilings, which are actually somewhat curved and therefore needed precisely cut pieces. Now we have beautiful, freshly painted ceilings that are even a bit higher than the original, since the plaster had been so thick. The lines where they accounted for the ceiling curves are clean and precise. It completely transformed the upstairs, and we are so thrilled with the work that Billy and his crew did! We plan to use Billy for future projects in our house, starting with completely overhauling a the decrepit screened-in porch on the side of our house. Highly recommend Kingcaire Construction for any of your home improvement needs!

Billy and his crew were thorough, professional, and did a great job. Work was documented throughout all stages with photos. The roof was opened up, water damage was addresses and also black mold found was remediated. New insulation was installed and the roof was closed, sealed, and now it looks like it was never open. Painting was done throughout the condo.

From our initial contact to final punch-lists, Billy and his team exceeded our expectations at every turn. Billy transformed an old, dark, and dirty mud/storage room off our dining room into an open, bright sunroom. To finish it off, he moved the old door to the side and built a perfectly proportioned deck. With his expert advice and experience, we created a space we use and love every day. To further sing Billy's praises, when we encountered some unexpected rot and water damage in the eves of the room, he took the time to show us the issues and provided two options to solve the problem. Billy completed all work within the allotted timelines detailed in the contract despite some unexpected extra work that needed to be done. We were very impressed and pleased. We felt totally confident in the work, found prices reasonable, and believe he was always looking out for our best interests (especially with regard to budget). KingCaire Construction (owned and operated by Billy Mulcaire) did a great job on our basement remodel. We chose them over several other companies based on feedback from other customers and what we felt was a good initial connection with Billy. Out of everyone we spoke with, he seemed to listen the most to our preferences, and had some good solutions to several of the issues we were trying to solve. His estimate was the most detailed of those we received (which we really appreciated), and while it was not the cheapest, the pricing was fair. After we signed the contract, KingCaire was able to begin construction promptly, and Billy initially estimated 4 weeks to complete the job. Early on, he and his guys discovered a problem with termite-damaged wood that necessitated some significant additional work before the job could move forward. In the end, this added a little over a week and more expense to the job, but we were glad to get the problem fixed and appreciated his honesty in not trying to avoid it to stay within the initial estimated timeline. Otherwise, the job itself went smoothly, and we were pleased with the overall pace of progress and quality of the work done. When we had questions, Billy was responsive, and he would usually update us no less often than once a week on how things were progressing and whether any decisions had come up that required action on our part. He was also patient with us when we were indecisive or changed our mind. When he finished the job, Billy promised to take care of any associated issues that came up. When a minor issue arose a few weeks afterward, he was true to his word and took care of it. Overall, Billy and his guys did great work. They paid attention to detail, and the fact that Billy often did a lot of the work himself (or at least knows how to do it) was a big asset that allowed them to speed up the pace when necessary. We were happy with almost every facet of the job and would use them again.

We hit about every hurdle possible in the formation of our new business, and hurdles are unavoidable, but a good contractor can make all those problems seem much smaller. Billy and the guys from KingCaire Construction really went above and beyond to help us every step of the way. They built to code even when our plans were sub-par. Their work was impeccable, the pricing fair, and the staff were timely and professional. I highly recommend them. I will upload photos of the finished project when we finish our part.

Billy Mulcaire is fantastic! The workmanship is top notch and beautiful, the professionalism is excellent (always on time or early, always does what he says), but I got so much value from his extensive experience. That turned out to be the best part. He knows this stuff inside and out. He's quick and efficient, and he's always seeing the big picture and 10 steps ahead. He can look at a plan and immediately see the flaws (like fitting appliances through a 28" laundry room doorway). Saves time and money. He knows how to put value in a design (like the new window that totally transformed the apartment space, or leaving the brick exposed in the powder room). I also had complete trust that my house was in good hands, meaning I didn't have to sweat the day-to-day stuff. If he's doing the job, he's 100% responsible and thinking of every detail. Billy also runs a clean job site. He's respectful and friendly and so are his guys. They were easy to have around. Everything came out great! Really, really nice. The craftsmanship is obvious, particularly where the old had to blend with the new. Or when salvaged materials were retrofitted. I would hire Kingcaire again for the quality of work alone. The expertise and professionalism are the icing on top.

Billy and his crew were amazing. They showed up on time every day, worked hard, and got the job done promptly without overcharging for extras. Billy was very patient and helpful as we talked through design issues. He has a lot of experience and wisdom and had some great ideas which were better choices for the space and saved us money. His craftsman skills added a lot to the finished product. They worked hard to contain the dust and cleaned up the space each night. We are very thankful for their care and professionalism and will be hiring them again.

It went great. The project finished on time, and the only thing that went over budget was our decision to go with quartz over granite counters. The best part - Billy negotiated with the quartz supplier so the additional cost was nominal ($150!!).
We love the new kitchen, and it's totally changed the look of our house. We have a post WWII colonial in a traditional Bethesda neighborhood. We love the classic look, but needed to modernize inside. The KingCaire team did exactly that.
Also, they were great to work with. 2 Examples:
1) We had picked out a dark charcoal grout. Before the grout went down Billy called to recommend we consider a lighter shade, otherwise the grout would really stand out against the grey tile. He was right, we made the change, and it looks great.
2) We wanted a shelving unit to go in over the island, but didn't know exactly what we were looking for. Billy and his crew put in a cool shelf, but not what we wanted. We explained a bit more what we were looking for, and within 24 hours they had pulled down the original shelves and replaced it with a pair of floating shelves that were exactly what we were looking for.

Kingcaire Construction did an excellent job throughout the construction process - down to the finishing details. We had a tight deadline and a fixed budget which the owner effectively worked within. We had a limited amount of insurance money and Kingcaire helped us develop a budget and plan to upgrade the kitchen and baths with attractive finishings and upgrades without breaking the budget. The owner was incredibly resourceful in identifying products of high quality without the attached high price tag. We had frequent communication with the owner to get a progress update and to discuss project milestones that would be met. Kingcaire stayed on schedule despite some hiccups that were out of their control. He had a good crew that made sure they cleaned up after themselves. The owner, Billy Mulcaire is courteous and has a great sense of Irish humor which goes a long way when your doing such a large project.
We put the house on the market to sell and we received an offer in less than a week. At the open house, we received so many compliments on the quality of work from both buyers and brokers.
Kingcaire provided a high level of professional courtesy and did quality work within budget - which I wish I could say the same for the insurance company that we had to deal with. Kingcaire Construction did a wonderful job with renovations to our kitchen, living room, and basement. The work included: reconfiguring walls in kitchen and living area to open up space, replacing kitchen cabinetry, installing new exterior door with small deck, installing new wood floors throughout main floor of house, adding drainage and sump pump in basement, and replacing windows in basement. We are very happy with the work, and they were always punctual, very courteous, and a pleasure to work with. I plan to contact them again for future projects!

Billy is fantastic, I have no idea why someone would rate him less then perfect! I called Billy up late on Friday, and he was at my house Saturday morning. After hiring/ firing 3 contractors for incompetence, I know quality when I see it and Kingcaire Construction fits the bill.

My mother shipped to me three pieces of family furniture from Europe: a chest, a desk and a secretary desk - all in perfect condition. Unfortunately, the shipper did a horrible job packing the furniture and all three pieces arrived damaged. Two of them severely damaged - I literally had pieces of wood falling from them. These pieces of furniture are over 50 years old, and the third one is 40 years old. I was devastated beyond tears, because I grew up with this furniture, and that was the main reason I wanted it shipped to my home in the US. I was extremely fortunate to hire Mr. Billy Mulcaire of KingCaire Construction to repair my beloved furniture.
Mr. Mulcaire repaired all three pieces so that I cannot even tell that they were damaged, let alone where they were damaged. When I saw my repaired furniture, I literally cried out of happiness!
And, here is another amazing thing Mr. Mulcaire did. The top of the desk had been painted to another color at some point over the years. Mr. Mulcaire brought it back to its original color. Being print journalists, my parents used the desk when writing at home, and I still vividly remember its original color from my childhood. I was speechless to see the desk back in its original color after all these years!
Now I know whom to call if I need any work done on my furniture in the future!
