Description of Work: In September 2014, a neighbor's fire damaged my terrace roof, townhouse roof, front copper gutters and downspouts, my front door and locks. I was referred to Jarman Co. by my State Farm insurance agent.

Description of Work: LONG story. Termite remediation in a mid century modern house with many challenges, and stunning ceiling that had to be delicately worked around. They were fantastic. It took a LONG time to find the right person for this delicate job

Description of Work: In September 2015, my next door neighbor had a fire that damaged my 1943 contemporary row house. These damages included: destruction of my wooden front door and locks, and terrace roof by the fireman, smoke damage to the terrace ceiling, burnt left terrace columns,partial removal of the terrace ceiling (fireman), melted top of copper downspout, destroyed copper gutters and gutter guards. My home is directly across from Rock Creek Park, so all repairs required DC building permits and the approval by he US Fine Arts Commission. | |Jarman was one of two contractors recommended by my insurer, State Farm. I checked Angie's list, before selecting them. The repairs were delayed due to the lengthy process to obtain approval from the commission and the extremely cold winter. Jarman Construction worked closely with my State Farm and provided detailed estimates of all costs. I met with their architect who presented the proposed renovation plan to the Arts Commission. The commission approved the design in late April. I returned from a business trip on May 7. While I was away Jarman staff had demolished the old terrace roof and framed a new one. They checked the electrical system on my terrace, found no damage and were able to use my existing recessed light fixtures, etc. They replaced my flat roof, which now has a higher pitch than the old one. They used copper flashing and added a barrier to protect my roof in the event that my neighbor has another fire. They also restored, at the commission's direction, some original features to the terrace. I was most impressed by their ability to repair my copper downspout and was delighted with my new gutter, gutter covers and flashing. The fireman had hacked up my wooden door , which was original to the house. Jarman examined the door and explained that it was repairable. They removed the damaged door section, inserted a new section, used wood putty to cover the seams, sanded, routed matching grooves, and installed new door hardware before painting the front door. They also replaced the metal framing that the fireman damaged. |Once the Fine Arts Commission approved my design, Jarman completed the entire project within 4 weeks. My home looks better than before, as the Arts Commission mandated that some original features be restored. For example, they pulled a 1994 picture of the house (I purchased it in 1998) and decided that the open lateral feature on the terrace roof must be restored - the previous owners had covered this feature). | |I enjoyed working with Jarman Construction staff and will definitely select them for future projects.

Description of Work: I had a pipe freeze and burst in my basement. They did plumbing work, door installation, sink and vanity installation, drywall, and painting. I also had them replace a chimney cap and a gutter elbow for me.

Description of Work: Jarman Co provided project oversight for repairs due to water damage in my home. This was an insurance claim, so I don't know the final cost; State Farm paid the contractors directly. Jarman replaced dry wall and painted, and they managed repairs to the flooring and cabinets. They scheduled repairs and arranged to be at my home to admit the sub-contractors and to oversee the work.
