Jose did a great job at a great price. The new and old exchange units needed to be carried through the house and up 3 flights of stairs to the balcony closet. Everything is working perfectly now and all the old equipment was removed with no mess. Would highly recommend.

I recently purchased a house with an older HVAC system (14+ years). With the warmer weather, the A/C was running continuously and barely maintaining the set temperature. I decided to contact HC United for a diagnosis based on good reviews both here and elsewhere. The owner, Jose Arias, scheduled me for a day later and arrived midway between the promised arrival time (8-10am) and proceeded to check the common issues (dirty filter, unit had power, etc.). He diagnosed, as I expected, that the A/C was low on refrigerant. I accompanied Jose outside as he hooked up his gauges and checked levels. He was friendly and polite and gave me three options to deal with the issue: find the refrigerant leak (with appropriate fee), add more R-22, or replace the entire unit. Given that I've only owned the home for a short period, I opted to refill the R-22 and hope that it was a slow leak. He was very understanding of my choice and recognized that it was a reasonable solution, not trying to push a more expensive option. While I observed, he provided me with a couple zip ties to reattach the thermostat wire, and he cleaned off all the debris from the wiring and circuit board before reattaching the condenser panel. He took his time to make sure that the lines were reading appropriate temp/pressure and check the temperature in the house. During further conversation, he even recommended that I get multiple estimates from other companies if I ultimately decided to replace the A/C, ignoring the lowest price and the highest price. And if I did decide to get a new unit, hopefully his estimate would be fair enough to earn my business. I would use his service again and recommend him to others, and his price was better than other HVAC companies I've used previously.

When one of our air conditioner systems stopped blowing cold air in early June, HC United Co. was recommended to us by another Angie's List contractor we use. My home has two split system A/C units, one heat pump system for use upstairs and one A/C unit tied into the central air system for the first floor and basement. The first floor unit stopped blowing cool air and turned out to have a busted coil. Due to the age of the system, we need to replace the coil and the compressor (outdoor part of unit). We had 4 companies come in and provide quotes. Jose Arias (HC United CO..) came by and walked us through most of the options and was very honest about what we needed versus what we wanted. Because the expense was unexpected and we did not truly have the budget to redo both systems at the time, Jose's advice on what we really needed greatly influenced what we decided to replace (one mid line system vs. replacing all the systems). After looking at all the other systems (heating and 2nd floor system), he told us there really was no need to replace them at this time. When we received all the quotes in an apples to apples comparison, Jose's came in $500 below the nearest other estimate for the same or better A/C unit. Once we choose HC United Co., Jose arranged to get the unit and install it the following week. This was in June where all A/C companies are overbooked. Jose and his install team showed up on time and finished the complete job in about four hours. Jose coordinated the installation himself and walked us through everything when completed. The unit he originally quoted us was no longer in stock at Carrier so he provide the next step up Carrier unit at no additional charge. He also threw in a programmable thermostat. His team put mats down in my house and left zero trace after the were done. They were at all times courteous and professional. After install, we noticed one vent had no air coming out, so we called Jose. He came out the next day and found that a dampener had to be opened. He resolved the issue and the A/C unit has been working great for the past month since installation. Our experience with HC United CO and Jose Arias was easy and honest so we will definitely look to HC United CO. in the future for our heating and cooling needs.

I have a single level house with slab on grade and a old furnace in one of the hallway closets that has been given me some problems for the past three years. I have had the furnace repaired three different times until the last repair cost me to much. I decided that it was time to stop fixing it and get quotes from different professionals. The quotes I got to relocate and replace the old furnace, AC unit and redo the supplies and returns were from $9,800 up to $11,200. I met Mr. Jose Arias with (HC United Co) in Washington, DC he was doing a service call for a customer, I explained to him the problem I was having with the furnace and also with the air pressure in the entire house and all the bedrooms were not even. In the winter time we had to use the furnace as well as the electrical heaters in two of the bedrooms. I needed to relocate the furnace and AC unit because I have plans to increase the dimentions in the existing hallway bathroom which is located next to the utility closet. The existing AC unit is located where a new patio will be placed so he suggested to came and check the units before anyone replaced them. (in case they were still in good conditions) Mr. Jose Arias came to look at the job and he confirmed the furnace needed to be replaced and he suggested to replace it with a new (Furnace 80% with 100,000 BTUS) in the attic of the house to increase square footage for a new bathroom. He also suggested to relocate the AC unit with a (Train 2.5 Tons) and to install a new supply, return and complete duct work with a R-8 insulated to each room of the house including the bathrooms. They recommended to install a trunk reducer to keep the static preasure for all the rooms even. I did as they suggested in replacing the AC unit, furnance and trunk reducer in which now I have excellent preasure in the entire house. They understand the customer needs and perform the work per contract time and amount, very professional and clean. I have referred six people since then and they have completed the work. I will defently use HC United Co. in the future.

We had a great experience with HC United. Jose Arias had serviced our HVAC system before and made it last as long as it did before we needed to replace it, since this was the original furnace from the 1970s. When our AC started making a loud noise and stopped cooling, we called Jose who came the very next day. We were impressed because this was at the beginning of the summer, the start of the busy season, but he was very responsive. Jose was very candid and honest with us and said that we could choose to just replace the fan, which would have been over $500 or replace the whole system, which we knew was what we needed. We scheduled the replacement for the following week and again everything went according to schedule and budget. One of his team members came to replace the system. We couldn't be more pleased, the new system works great, is energy efficient and extremely quiet. In addition, they left our laundry room clean and uncluttered. After the installation, we had a few questions about the system and Jose was very helpful in answering all of our concerns. Most importantly, the price was very reasonable compared to other vendors. Nowadays, it is difficult to find affordable, dependable and trustworthy contractors, but we are extremely satisfied with HC United and highly recommend their services.
