Jim and his team did a great job. They gave us a thorough review of the ways in which our home could be more energy efficient. They were knowledgeable, helpful, and obviously cared about the quality of their work. I was impressed.

Angela Stewart, the Building Analyst was first-rate. On-time, professional. Personally installed energy-saving devices. Explained reasons well and gave good answers to all questions. Angela was energetic, pleasant and easy to understand. Seemed very knowledgeable and well-trained. Replaced shower head with one for lower energy use. Installed outlet strips to shut off printer and TV accessories. All at no cost! Explained how to spot possible leaks in my hot water heater.

The test went fine and gave us similar results to the test that was done by the company that we eventually selected to do the actual insulation work. The energy audit report looked very professional. The reasons that we didn't go with them for the actual work were that they didn't really inspire any confidence in them as to the quality of work that would be done and we had the impression that they would be subcontracting out the labor for insulating to third party vendors. They also indicated that we were on our own with BGE for filing and receiving the rebate. The company we went with for the labor took care of all of that for us.

+The men arrived super promptly, and were very professional in presenting the plan of operation. They then proceeded to inspect the interior and exterior of the house, taking the necessary measurements to build a computer model later. nt door, to do the They then set up the frame in the front doorway, to perform the air flow test. The test was amazing, and there was such air flow from an unfinished closet in the loft, they knew that a big solution to the houses energy and ice dams were to finish the closet, and provide air seals. They also determined that the knee wall areas of the loft needed insulation, which will be done via access panels In the unfinished portion of the basement, added insulation and air sealing will provide additional insulation. Justin and Nick were excited that they could provide such reasonable solutions to the leaks in the house, and prevent ice dams next winter. Nick wants to be the Lead on the work that needs to be done, so we talked possible scheduling once the contract is presented. I am so grateful to Josh Ralls of Alternative Roofing for recommending the energy Audits.

This company is terrific. Nick and jorge and their of 2 evaluated our house for energy loss, proposed reasonable solutions to maximize efficiency and out down energy bills and then worked in basement and attic. They were punctual, polite and smart about their solutions, having to modify their approaches creatively due to surprises that always come with old houses. Many of the drafts i felt throughout my house disappeared and i'm getting a fat rebate to help cover their cost. Fantastic!

They were right on time, and put down canvas to walk on, so as not to get the floors and carpeting dirty. They were courteous and friendly, and were able to answer all my questions. I had requested a specific type of air sealing and they were very accommodating in arranging that ahead of time. They used a shop vac to clean up afterwards, and followed up with information on available tax credits. I was very happy with the work they did.

I was thoroughly pleased with their inspection and will get a written report of the results within a week. The report will include issues that need addressing, estimated cost of repair and cost effectiveness recommendations.

Although the crew leader worked diligently and the process did seem somewhat effective in air sealing and insulating my house, there were just too many problems with the job, including one issue that they company has thus far failed to address, for me to reccomend them to others. Specifically: 1) Some members of the crew were inexperienced and got caulk all over my steps because they didn't know how to caulk. I spent hours cleaning up after them. 2) They originally sprayed orange foam on the interior walls and trim of my home! They basically address this issue once I complained, although there are a couple spots I will need to paint over. 3) They sprayed organge foam on the exterior walls of my home under the porch where it was visable. They did come back to my house and fixe this. 4) They didn't follow instructions about where to spray the cellulose insulation in the attic. As a result, when I put the plywood boards back where they originated so I could put back the items in the attic, the plaster ceiling cracked. They have thus far refused my request that they address this problem. 5) They should have been more clear about things they would not be doing (like sealing doors and outlets) that we talked about when they came out to write the bid. 6) I haven't received my refund check from DC and I haven't heard back from Elysian re: what I need to do to receive it.

Elysian first came conduct an energy review as part of a DC program to encourage homeowners to conserve energy. After they submitted a report I decided to get my attic insulated with Elysian too. On the day of service, they arrived 3 hours late which meant they had to come the following day to finish, a major inconvenience for me. On the end of the second day I went up to inspect the work before they left and was very surprised at what they did. The contract called for installing Tenmat covers over the recessed lights. Instead they built individual 1/4 inch thick styrofoam boxes. They were so poorly built that the edges were not sealed all the way and I could easily take them apart. I complained about this and added that I thought this was a safety hazard. First they tried to deny that styrofoam was flammable and quot;not anymore than the wood your house is built ofand quot;. When they finally agreed to install the covers I had lost confidence in their workmanship and their ethics. What made me completely loose confidence was when I discovered that a and quot;blower door sealant testand quot; for which they wanted to charge me $675 was advertised on their web site for $125. When I protested about that they replied that their test exceeded the requirements set by the DC government of a 10% reduction in energy loss. I contend the insulation alone did that, and the blower door test was just a big fan they stuck in my door to measure the loss. Again, their web site advertises the same thing for a fraction. I have pictures of the workmanship and I took screen shots of the web site in case anyone tries to change it. Do not use this company!!!

Everything went well, but the report was a bit lengthy.

I thought the initial assessment was very thorough, and I received a lot of helpful information from it. I thought that the crew who later installed the energy efficient upgrades in my home did a good job as well. My only issue is that Elysian notified me much later that my $500 government rebate was being postponed because carbon monoxide had been detected from my water heater and my boiler. Obviously, carbon monoxide is a serious safety issue, and my primary concern was that the company took so long to notify me. Fortunately, my plumber inspected the water heater and my boiler and found no evidence of carbon monoxide. Thus, I will be receiving the rebate.

Elysian was great! They provided a detailed report that highlighted problem areas and explained how we could address them. They also gave me lots of materials that explained how we could we could get rebates for certain energy efficient upgrades.

They were very knowledgeable and provided a thorough evaluation of the house. Everything went well.

It was great! I was very pleased with their comprehensive report as well as the adjustments they made. Thanks to them, we have seen our utility bills decrease.

They were very efficient, very polite, and did a great job. They installed a water efficient shower head, replaced all of the incandescent bulbs with CFLs, and placed insulation on the basement piping at no cost as well. They also provided very helpful information on how to improve my home's energy efficiency.

They were timely, kept everything clean, and provided a comprehensive report after the audit. Basically, they did everything as promised and I'm satisfied with the work.

They were extremely professional, thorough, and knowledgeable. They spent a longer time performing the audit than expected, but they didn't charge any additional fees which we appreciated. Furthermore, they had excellent follow up, and their report was clear and easily understood.

The crew was excellent, showed up on time, performed work as quoted and cleaned up thoroughly. We have an older house (1947) that was very drafty. Installation of insul-bags in the second floor crawl spaces and blow-in insulation in the attic have greatly improved our comfort level.

Overall, I think it was a great experience. I loved them. They forgot to do a couple of items into the bozo, but when I e-mailed them, they immediately came back and fixed the problem.

I received an energy audit for my 100 year old home through the DC Home free audits. They were really responsive. Fantastic education on what the best way to improve the energy efficiency of our home, and a really great step by step plan for what things to tackle first.

Elysian worked with us to identify and pretest products before installing them to ensure that the chemically sensitive member of our household would be OK with the materials selected. This included dropping off samples for us to and quot;liveand quot; with for a few days. Once they started their work on site, things took longer than Elysian expected, but they worked hard to finish the job as quickly as they could. Every member of their crew was a pleasure to have in our home - respectful, responsive, and clearly committed to their work. We have two large dogs that often got in their way, but Elysian's crew just worked around them with a smile (of course as soon as we realized the dogs were in the way we took steps to move them to a better spot in the house). The crew cleaned up carefully after themselves , and Elysian also worked with us to get all of the rebate paperwork processed as quickly as possible. They were a pleasure to have in our home. And the temperature levels in our house are much more constant and much more comfortable now we are using both the air conditioner and the furnace less and expect to see significant energy usage savings over the long haul.

I had an excellent experience with the home energy audit. It was a very thorough and comprehensive evaluation. This included info red, checking of Co2 emissions, furnace and hot water efficiency, they checked for air leaks in our doors and windows for this they did a blower door test. I was able to ask questions to the auditor. They helped me apply to the state of Maryland for the energy rebate program. It was a great experience. I learned a lot from this process. After completion of any of their suggestions they will come back to your home to retest the energy audit.
