Buckle up for a bumpy ride and open your wallet/purse wide if you plan on using this company. We contacted them for a move from Maryland to Florida, after receiving a quote we decided to sign the contract. We told them several times on the phone that we did not have an apartment secured for our destination and were told that it would not be a problem. First thing is that they do not have their own trucks, they rent, which is fine, but weird for a "professional" moving company. They show up 3 hours late on the day of the move out, and let us know that we may have a "little" more cubic feet than the initial estimate listed. That's understandable and usually part of the process, but little did we know that they were intentionally packing boxes 25-50% full, increasing our cubic footage for the move and also causing over a thousand dollars in damages to our property because of how loose the boxes were packed. The new estimate was over DOUBLE the initial estimate (which they lowballed and did not include everything we had listed for them). We asked them several times for a breakdown of the charges and were never given an itemized list explaining everything. After arriving to Florida and eventually finding an apartment, we called to let them know our new address and tried to schedule a move. Our apartment would not be ready for a few days, but we were told by the horrible customer service department that we would have to move in within the next 2 days or wait up to 14 business days to receive our items. They did mention that they could charge us an additional several hundred dollar fee to deliver our items when we chose to do so. We went back and forth with them and they claimed that they never knew that we would not have a destination or date when we signed the contract, despite saying in the contract that free storage is included for up to 1 month. This fee to deliver our items when we requested changed on a daily basis, doubling one day and going back to the original amount the next. Not wanting to pay the additional $200-$400 fee, and with no leeway from the company, we reluctantly started the clock on the 14 business days. They were essentially holding our property hostage for ransom. After waiting nearly the full 14 business days, they reached out to schedule the move and gave us a date, which we confirmed and thought we would be nearing the end of this nightmare. On the date of the scheduled move-in, they reached out to us around 3:00 PM to say that they would be there at 10:30 PM. 10:30 PM?!?!?!?! REALLY!?!?! What kind of professional moving company tries to do a move-in at 10:30 at night? Apart from being just plain weird, most apartment/townhome complexes have noise ordinances that prevent this type of thing. They mentioned that they would be "quick". The only other time slot that was available? The next morning at 6:30 AM. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Not wanting to wait another 14 business days, we reluctantly accepted the 6:30 AM time slot. Another note for this company, they only accept Post Office money orders or cash for the final payment, despite accepting cash, check, and all major credit cards for the initial deposit and second payment. Postal money orders have a limit of $1000 per, so if your move is any more than that, you need to have several to complete the job, or just casually walk around with thousands of dollars in cash. We handed over the money orders, got our items in our new apartment and thought we were done with this nightmare. But unpacking our items we discovered the absolute con, poorly packed boxes and lots of damage. They also used wardrobe boxes, but just shoved all of our clothes on hangers in them, causing them all to be horribly wrinkled. No attempt by the owner to make up for any of the damages. The summary of this review is that this company is a SCAM. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They also claim to be BBB accredited in their contract, and they are absolutely not.

We contacted several moving companies to assist with moving our household effects for a local move within Bethesda, MD. Since it was a local move, we were looking for assistance with major furniture items, planning to move smaller items ourselves. One firm visited our home for an estimate and gave us a quote of $3000 for the move. DC Pro Movers, who had been used by a friend recenlty and was recommended by them, quoted about $850 for the move over the phone, without seeing what was involved. We decided to go with DPM because of their low price and the recommendation of our friends. I should add that our friends said they had to closely supervise the move to make sure it went as planned, but basically if you kept close control of the process DPM did satisfactory work. Unfortunatelly, on the day of the move, my spouse needed to be out of town for work, so I needed to manage the move single-handedly. The movers arrived a bit late on the first day and immediately said that this was a bigger move than they had anticipated. They asked me to sign an authoriziation for packing materials which I unfortunately did. The three-man team then proceeded to move everything. Although I repeatedly stated that we only wanted major furniture moved, it was impossible to manage the process in two places at once (and admittedly it was probably a larger move than was discussed with my spouse over the phone). Avi, the DPM supervisor visited in the afternoon and said I should "relax and let them deal with everything". I repeated that we only wanted the major furniture moved, and asked what the cost implications would be (since it looked loike the crew would need two days to finish), but did not receive an immediate reply. The crew worked more or less steadily until about 11:00pm and still had work to do. Aside from a rather long lunch break, the crew seemed to work well, although I could not monitor both locations all the time. They returned the next day and worked another full day to complete the move. Toward the end of the day, DPM provided me with an invoice for $5,500 for the move. This was far more than I thought was reasonable, given the alternative quote that I had of $3000, so we haggled, but in the end I was stuck with a charge of $4,500 for the move (they would not complete unloading the final load until I agreed on a price). While I would agree that the move was larger than DPM estimated over the phone, I feel their charges for the services provided were exorbitant. Basically, they took advantage of a situation where I could not adequately supervise the process and without a clear prior agreement on a revised price. The DPM crew was hard-working, honest, and pleasant (onlly one broken item has been discoverd thus far), but I do not feel DPM as a company were good value, and I do not feel the firm acted in good faith re pricing. I would not recommend or use them again.

I've moved many times across country, to Hawaii and back using a moving company and never had the issues that we had to deal with with this company. It has been one of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with.
Description of Work: This company was one of several that provided a quote for moving household good from my daughter's home in Virgina out-of-state. They provided the lowest quote ($2,900) and were pretty responsive initially, they arrived to pick the household goods when they said they would. That was the last good thing I can say. Dealing with this company has been a very bad experieicne. My daughter's things were to be in storage for a month until she got a place to live and started her new job. Due to circumstances beyond her control we needed to contact DC ProMovers to extend the time to keep her things in storage and change the delivery date. Both the cell phone number and the office phone number's voicemails were full. Both my daughter and I tried calling numerous times over a three to four week period. I finally sent an email on 6/21 to explain the situation and find out about the storage fees, Avi responded three days later and stated he had scheduled my daughter's things for auction. On the back of the receipt it states that the company will provide 30 days written notice through US Postal Service, the customer has 15 days to respond before items are placed on an auction list. No such notice was given. He said he had been out of the country for several weeks, he said he would be back in the country on June 26, he also said he had tried to get in touch with my daughter many times. The last call he made to her was on May 21st (cell phone call log). After many phone calls he finally agreed not to auction her things but wanted to be paid in full in cash. He already had charged my credit card $500, he said she owed $2900 and another $320 for storage. I agreed to pay in full, but would not pay him in cash. I would give him part cash and the rest I would put on a credit card after my daughter had a delivery date. After many attempts to meet with him to pay him he finally sent some to my home to pick up the money, I also proivde a credit card number. By the time I met him the price had gone up $400 supposedly for storage fees. He had told my daughter he would have her things delivered July 14, again he kept changing the date using various excuses as to why her things could not be delivered. Today is July 26 she still does not have her things, but the driver of the moving van did call her and said he was enroute.

I solicited bids on a website for moving and DC Pro Movers were the first to contact me. Mr. Alvi was very professional and gave me a quote that was very comparable to most others. I explained that I wanted to pack my own things and I just needed them to move the heavy furniture. He asked if I would book with them right away and I informed him I needed to contact other movers to determine the best value for myself. He understood and was very pleasant. I felt really good about the conversation and about the company after speaking with him. When I called back to try to book the move with them I left a message and did not receive a call back for two - three days. I booked with another company. Alvi finally called me back and said the office was closed for a holiday (it was the Jewish holiday) I understood and canceled the other company to go ahead and book with them. The movers came on-time and began work right away. They took much longer than I expected, but I wasn't alarmed. I expected them to drag it out as long as possible. I began to be alarmed when I was told they had to move my things in two trips...CHA-CHING! The movers left to take my load and were expected to meet my other family members at the new location. I left shortly after them and spotted them having lunch at the 7-11. I thought I would not be charged for this break, but they never told me they took a break. No big deal -- they are entitled to lunch. I made my way down to Woodbridge. Unloading went as expected. Prior to unloading the second shipment I received the sticker shock! My bill which should have been less than $1000 ended up being twice as much. They charged $410 just for the bubble wrap used to wrap my china cabinet and tvs (CHA-CHING!, CHA-CHING!, CHA-CHING!) When I asked what that was all about, I was told the bubble wrap was $1.25 per foot and they used 328 feet of it. Shocking!! They also charged for the oodles of tape and they charged for the break they took at 7-11 as well and the additional travel time for the second trip. THESE ARE THE HIDDEN CHARGES THEY DON'T TELL YOU ABOUT! Even after giving them a second chance, they still got me!! AND, AS IF THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH, they attempted to dispose of a chair that had been left on the truck from a previous move in my townhouse courtyard. My sister had to tell them a neighbor saw them dispose of it and reported them before they would get it. I would say you get what you pay for, but I think the guys you pick up at 7-11 would have been a better value. I paid too much for this kind of service.
